Spacious condo steps to the beach
Our family of 4 enjoyed our week-long stay at Tranquility Bay Antigua, a quiet and peaceful condo resort steps from the beautiful Jolly Beach on the Caribbean (western) side of the island, with access to the swimming pools, gym, tennis, activities and evening programs at the lively all-inclusive resort next door with an international crowd, including plenty of families with kids. Our 2 Br/ 2 Bath condo was spacious and well equipped for our family, we were able to prepare breakfasts and lunches in our condo kitchen , dine outdoors on the covered balcony and walk to nearby restaurants at Jolly Harbor Marina for dinners. Hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful at scheduling tours and excursions of the island. TBA felt safe and secure. Condo building was older but clean, Beds were comfortable, washer/dryer was provided in our condo, housekeeping services were provided and this was a good home base for us as we explored Antigua. We had rented a car to drive/explore ourselves but driving was treacherous as roads are narrow, potholed, not always paved and driving is on the left. We were often dodging pedestrians, livestock and other vehicles. I would recommend using taxis.

NOT SO TRANQUIIL!!!
Sadly Tranquility isn't all that tranquil after all! Major problems with my booking upon arrival.................I was not alone.....other guests had the same issues! The place is very dated, needs serious work done......if you Google the place it comes up as one of the top hotels in Antigua!!! No it isn't! Certainly no where near 4 star as it claims....more 2 star!!! Staff, pleasant enough but not that interested nor helpful when there''s a problem.....too many 'Island smiles' and not enough done efficiently. On the plus side.....bed very comfortable, sun always hot and beach lovely and close by. Would definately NOT stay there again unless someone else paid! Not value for money, overpriced......so NOT RECOMMENDED AS A PLACE TO STAY!!! Antigua itself is a beautiful island but an expensive island too, lots of extra costs when dining 10% service + 15% island tax..... ie....non-alcoholic smoothie on the beach EC$15.00 - US$8.00+++!!!!! Almost glad to be home even if the weather sucks!!!

Very disappointed
The worst air conditioning we've ever run into while traveling & it's quite warm as u can imagine . Water was cold , the all place smells bed . We lost cable every single day . We were very disappointed and never coming back to this place again .

Wir (59/59) waren 8 Tage im Mai 2015 im Tranquility Bay und waren begeistert. Wenn man im Meer schwimmen will, gibt es keinen schöneren Strand auf Antigua als den Jolly Beach. Restaurants, Supermarkt, Auto- und Fahrradverleih ist alles in 5 min. zu Fuß erreichbar. Auch die Wohnungen im Tranquility waren super - nur die Klimaanlage schwächelte etwas. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit

Front desk person was very friendly but gave horrible directions and did not even know there was a donkey sanctuary on the island. Our room had a broken dryer which was not repaired the entire week we were there. Air conditioning was poor which left the bedding and clothes damp. Livingroom furniture was uncomfortable.

Nice 2 bedroom suite right off the beach
Suite was very clean although dated. Good size for a family of four and having a full kitchen made it nice to stock items for the week instead on eating out for every meal. 1 of the 3 air conditioners was not working (barely running as a fan) but weather was pleasant enough to get by without it. I would say they should change the feature about free Wi-Fi in room since we were never able to get a signal from any device to connect. Only small area by reception could get you on the Internet (no cell service at all which was fine by me - remember we are on vacation)! Grounds were kept very clean and they even helped us take groceries back from supermarket using a golf cart. Master bedroom was very spacious.

Best Bang For your money
Excellent front desk staff, welcoming, friendly and informative. Rooms are spacious clean and well stocked with clean towels, dishes great for family vacations. Call for a golf cart pickup to dinner and back at ant if the great restaurants in around the area. The beach is in your door step just put on your sandals or barefoot it to the beach on the property.

Wonderful Experience!
My and family and I were very happy that we stayed at Tranquility Bay Hotel and highly recommend this hotel to others. We felt safe, the staff was extremely nice, especially Jerron, Joanne and Filomena. Jerron was very helpful. The beach is beautiful and safe to swim in. Our two bedroom suite was close to the beach. We love the spaciousness and the cleanliness of our two bedroom suite. The decor of the suite was nice. The washer and dryer was a plus it felt wonderful not having to do laundry on our return back from vacation. The supermarket in the area was also an added bonus. I, therefore, recommend Tranquility Bay to others without hesitation. We had a wonderful safe, time staying there.

Friendly hotel, close to wonderful beach
Pleasant hotel stay - close to Wonderful beach and clear blue sea - what's not to like? Spacious, clean rooms with helpful staff. Decor is slightly dated, and facilities may be in some need of upgrading, but that does not detract from the benefits of a great location in an area of natural beauty.

Good location
We hauled out our boat at Jolly Harbour Marina and needed some place so sleep the last nights. This place was great.

No Air-Conditioning. At All!!
DO NOT STAY HERE! No working AC even after multiple complaints from us and from other vacationers. When I spoke to the Operations Manager, Mrs Watty, (after three nights in a row of no working AC) she shamed me for needing an AC. She doesn't have AC at her house or ceiling fans, why should I need one? Because I paid for a room with a working AC!!!! Save your money and go elsewhere for a few extra dollars.

Family Stacation
The facilities were great and located just two minutes walk to an amazing beach, 5 minutes to a large supermarket and 5 minutes walk to a large family friendly pool. The gym was small but adequate. we bought and cooked our own food and there were a few really nice restaurants close by. Love it will plan to do this again as soon as possible.

Needs renovating. If you don't mind not staying in a hotel that is not modern nor updated than this hotel is an option for your stay in Antigua.

A very " Jolly" place to stay!
Hotel was in a great location and the staff was extremely helpful the rooms were spacious and contained two balconies. The one bedroom in which we stayed in contained a large shower, living room,and full kitchen. The Maids provided us with fresh towel daily and we're extremely helpful and polite they provided us with anything that was missing in our rooms with a smile. We were there during the week of Carnivale and participated in their parade and by the end of the stay we were fortunate enough to be relocated to a room that had a view of the beach.. the staff went out of their way to make sure that our stay was memorable.

Awesome Trip
It was my family first trip to Antigua. Our Stay at Tranquility Bay was awesome. We had a two bedroom and a one bedroom for six of my family members. The beach was so close and the supermarket was within walking distance. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Blue water and white sandy beach. My only downside was the noisy air conditioning unit. I would go back to Antigua again and will stay at the Tranquility Bay Resort. Jolly beach my family and I will be back. And if you need a good cab driver to show you around the island please ask for cab driver Trini at the airport such a nice and friendly man.

Great location
The hotel staff was friendly and they did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The beach is so close and you can walk to it . Great for families.

Great apartments and fantastic beach
We had 2 enormous rooms with our apartment and the apartment was great. The staff is very friendly and the facilities we could use at the Jolly Beach Resort are fantastic. The wifi was good when it works - but it was down for 3 days which was a pain. They are very strict on check out time at 11am. I requested a check out at 12 noon but they insisted on charging for the extra time!! I think most hotels would have been more flexible on this as they were not expecting any other guests and the resort was pretty empty.

Great Beach, Great Location
This is what I would call a 3 star hotel. I was looking for something from which I could walk to the beach and from which you could walk to stores and restaurants. This was in my budget but significantly less expensive than many of the other hotels on the beach. This is connected to to Jolly Harbor resort which you share facilities with. The beach is really nice and we enjoyed hanging out there. One thing you need to keep in mind is that this place is basically an all inclusive which is optional and we did not do, so if we wanted to drink on the beach we had to either buy a cash card or go next door to Castaways, which we did. This was not a problem for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only knock would be that they were never able to get me a working CD player and the complimentery toiletries seemed to change every day and we occasionally had to request things we were running out of. I enjoyed having the kitchen as we made our own breakfast everyday which saved us money as the restaurants are expensive. For dinner we went to some of the number of good restaurants within walking distance. The Acropolis was one of my favorites , the best lamb shanks I have ever had, and Miracles, out on the corner of the main street, with some truly great curry and lobster. I also liked being able to walk 5 minutes to the grocery store. Over all the place has some minor imperfections but we enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

Location, location, location
The location of this property was excellent, We had one of the 3 units in the entire resort that actually faced the ocean and provided beuatiful sunset views from the good sized balcony deck. The unit we had provided a small kitchen and living area, with a large bedroom. Closet space was good and the King Sized bed was comfy. The kitchen was well equiped. There were plenty of places for pictures to hang, but someone must have liked them as there was nothing left on the walls but the nails.Towels for the beach and having them replaced was a big issue as there was never any to be had. Chairs on the beach? Forget it! The air conditioning was noisy like a jet and failed to cool well. Remote controls for the air were missing and once replaced did not function well. hot water was an issue, maybe becasue wewere at the end of a long unit. The livng area had furnitire that was not really usable, but who spends time sitting inside anyway. Our unit we had was linked to another and therefore noisy at times. I think generally the resort needs to renovate all suites. The resort cuts off the room keys early on the last day and that casued some issues for sure,that doesn't need to be included in the vacation package. All in all, now that we have seen the entire island, this location was best for us and very convienient, including a great grocery store. The beach was 1 mile long and awesome. I would rent one of the condos on the harbour next time!

We stayed in "the Captain", one of the suite-buildings on the resort , supposedly the upmarket sister of the all-inclusive Jolly Beach Resort, but stangely enough this Tranquility Resort is further away from the beach than the Jolly Resort, with no be beach/sea views from the accommodation; the 3 floor suite buildings look a bit outdated, but the suite was huge (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sitting room/kitchen) and comfortable, except there were no (black-out) curtains, just blinds that let the light through. The beach is beautiful, the staff is nice and helpful, a faulty airco-unit was repaired the same evening!, the resort feels safe and secure, ample parking spaces for rental car; forget about the all-inclusive more down-market Jolly Beach Resort, there are various restaurant off-site not far away (in Jolly Harbour, as well as a bit further driving along the coast); the pool area is shared with the Jolly Beach Resort (which seemed to have varioius aweful restaurants, avoid those).

Plenty of room!
Having two bedrooms with their own bathrooms made it feel like home. Separate washer dryer room made a weeks stay easy to do without too much packing. The dryer took so long, I thought it might be broken, but it eventually dryed everything OK. Location is great as it is a short walk to the very large and modern grocery store. We stocked up on breakfast food and drinks which really reduced our expenses for eating out, not to mention the convenience. We made a few spagetti dinners easily with the well equipped kitchen. Toaster oven for pizzas. No oven, so forget any major cooking. WIFI worked well. Beach is a five minute or less walk. Free sailboats at the next door Jolly Resort with a nice pool area. Very clean and the beds were particularly comfortable. Rent a car is useful to see the rest of the islands many beaches. Long Bay Beach on the NE end of the island has the best off beach snorkeling. Stingray city tour is fun for everyone. Circle island tours are fun, but be advised that when snorkeling, you MUST wear a flotaion belt on some tours, so getting underwater is almost impossible. North end of Darkwood beach has good offshore snorkeling that's really close to the resort.. We also did the Zipline kayaking excursion that was fun. The biggest negative was the weather with more rain than sunshine for the week we were there in early May.

Flott beliggenhet
Fint hotell med flott beliggenhet ved sranda, kort vei til marinaen med mange fasiliteter og restauranter.Vi hadde bestilt uten mat, men hadde mulighet til å kjøpe mat pakker og benytte på hotellet ved siden av. Vi spiste all mat utenfor hotellet, og det var veldig bra! Det var ikke basseng på hotellet, men man kunne benytte alle fasiliteter på nabohotellet. Store fine rom med stue,kjøkken,soverom og bad, og to balkonger. Anbefales!

Great Location, Beach, Use of Jolly Beach resort
This place is great for families that want a 2 Bedroom spacious apartment with all the amenities of a hotel room like daily maid service and a concierge and use of all the water equipment and activities at the Jolly Beach Resort next door. The beach is great and you can't beat the walking distance to Jolly Harbor restaurants and supermarket. Great day trips kayaking, snorkling and zip-lining close by. Only suggestion is to get your towels for the beach the day before or as soon as you get there. I highly recommend Tranquility Bay.

Unpretentious, relaxed, gets all the basics right
On a white sand beach, with a view of the sunset over the sea just alongside Montserrat on the horizon, pure blue water with that milkiness you get with white sand in the tropics. Calm enough water to let my 5 yr old swim without me in the water most of the time, though the waves picked up when a cold front came in. Great dive shop right on the beach - they know excellent spots. Don't bother with getting the all inclusive armbands from next door's Jolly Beach Resort - not worth it unless you want an all day cocktail bender - just get a drink at the beach bar Castaways which is just as near as the JBR as the sun goes down. Must do activity is the sunset and steel band barbecue at Shirley Heights on a Sunday - even if you go Saturday to Saturday, it's worth this first full day trip out. Hotel a little careworn in places (need to replace a bulb on the tennis court floodlights and the carpet on 2 courts getting quite worn; the 2 hard courts a little better). Only gripes would be inconsistency of what's provided in each room (we had coffee filter papers and useful tupperware boxes in one suite, but not another when we changed as our travelling party became smaller), paper thin walls so that you hear every word in the room next door, and outdoor furniture that's a little too big to fit the balconies. Not a lot to moan about really!

Tranquility Bay - Antigua Sunsets
Quiet, convenient, clean and comfortable. Tranquility Bay's building's are located quietly between Jolly Harbor and the Jolly Beach Resort. We asked for quiet and received a room about 150 meters from the beach, with minimal noise as requested. The buildings are newer than the adjacent beach resort and located conveniently walking distance close to the Jolly Harbor complex of restaurants and supermarket. We made good use of the kitchen for breakfast & snacks with food & drink from the local supermarket. The free WiFi proved excellent for Skype calls and keeping in touch with modern life's communication services. The Taxi to St. John, rental car service for a day around the Island, and restaurants booked through Tranquility Bay were excellent. We sailed Hobie Cats and swam in the heated pool, available for free use through the adjacent resort, almost every day of our stay. The sunsets and food from OJ's Restaurant on the beach and Carmichael's on the top of Sugar Ridge were great (both places less than ten minutes drive away), although our intimate sunset on the local beach with bubbles and deli favorites from the supermarket proved almost as satisfying (and much more economical). Night life and people watching is only a quick walk down to the beach at Castaways beach bar & grille (with excellent burgers and the best bread pudding). One week was not enough.

convenient and friendly
Tranquility Bay Suites are good. A bedroom with big firm bed , a lounge with sofas and a small well equipped kitchenette, all with air con. Perfect for a couple. Room service was very willing with clean sheets and towels on request, also a daily change of special beach towels. The larger suites (for 4) were really good, two bedrooms, large lounge, shower room and bathroom, plus a laundry room. Try to get a non ground floor room. The balconies are dark and have little view, as well as being overlooked from the road in some places. Lots of nice eateries by the harbour, better value than the Jolly Beach Resort facilities that are suggested, unless Karaoke is your thing! Good supermarket 5 minutes walk away. Nice beach with soft sand - and sand flies - so take repellent. They do need a proper handbook for guests, said it is in production. Helpful staff deal with queries with humour. All in all good value
