It was a lovely old pub. Our room was on the third floor up six flights of steps with a heavy suitcase we are in our 60’s the staff didn’t offer to help. Food and beer was excellent

There is no lift. We were in third floor, 4th including the pub below. We were climbing 67 steps twice a day. Not recommended if you have a big luggage. We stayed there for 3 nights. Noisy. Building was shaking when a bus passing by. Unhygienic to obtain a water from the toilet basin to make a hot drink. That’s what you get in the room. Mould on the bathroom and smell of urine, looks like it has not been cleaned and vacuumed for months. Nobody cleaned the room for first day. We spoke to the manager/ the staff who served us during check in and he said it will be only cleaned after the second night. Nobody came to clean at all. So we used the wet damp towel for 3 days. Broken light shade cover on the hallway exposing the light bulb. Small room, It’s a shame because the building looks nice outside.

スカイシティのすぐそばで空港へのバスの発着乗り場に近いので、便利。街中へもすぐ。古い風情の建物は魅力があります。また一階がパブ、二階がレストランなので、食事も便利でした。エレベーターはないので、重い荷物の場合は、上階まで持ち上げるのはちょっと大変。パブのカウンターがホテルの受付でもあるので、ちょっとわかりにくいかも。部屋はとても小綺麗で好感が持てました。

It is a great concept Brewery, Restaurant and Hotel. It is centrally located and can walk to alot ie: Bay Harbor,Museums, Sky tower, food, and public transit options. They do not have a front desk. So don't get in earlier than said check in. The room I was is could use an upgrade. But it had what I needed a bed and shower. And when I asked for a hair dryer I forgot mine. They let me borrow one.

It’s not a place for proper people to stay. It stings and filthy. No private bathroom or shower. Complete ripoff. Won’t trust to Expedia antif I don’t get my full refund because I had to leave the place to find somewhere to stay

The price and location were awesome. The place is very old and you get what you pay for. Also, the parking nearby is pretty expensive. You’re better off staying here if you don’t have a car, want to save some money and be the middle of everything.

It was a wonderful hotel that I would like to visit again. The staff were very kind to me even though I didn't speak much English.

Room was at the top of 3 flights of stairs. It was pokey and dirty. No remote for tv. The bed was on the floor, with no legs so u didn't hit your head on the ceiling. G.M was rude and they promise to return our $300.00 bond the next morning but didn't. We rang to follow-up and were told, 'sorry our G.M is off today'. Very disappointing. Don't waste your money here!

You have to remind them about deposit refund :(
A hell of a palaver trying to get into the room. Required ID - but only a passport or NZ Drivers Licence - of which I had neither on me. Asked for $300 deposit (after we had paid for the stay) promising to refund this if it wasn't needed. 2 weeks later, after emailing the hotel, they said 'oh thanks for the reminder'. Very poor. How many folk don't 'remind' them? Room very pokey. Parking was $40/day. Not $30 as advertised. Not going back.

only thing positive was location, central to everything we wanted to do. The hallway smelt very musty, nearly knocked you over when you opened the door. the window did not have a lock, towel rail in bathroom was not there. The remote for Tv did not work, the mattress was stained .

Won't go back there
Really disappointed, would not recommend, rundown, old, dirty, bed didn't have a duvet or blanket, took ages to get it sorted, food was ok. Manager was not very helpful but bar staff were excellent.

Eine schreckliche Unterkunft, mit Schimmel in der Dusche, Blutflecke am Bettlaken, schmutzig und klebrigen Kaugummi Teppich. Das Bier an der Bar war aber Richtig gut.

Friendly staff, small but clean room, handy to Sky City bus depot for Intercity & airport. Bar & food on site. Be aware there is no lift if you have heavy luggage and are in a 3rd floor room (storage lockers available at bus depot).

Had to drive round looking for somewhere to park close enough then had to pay $40 for a 24hr parking permit no housekeeping would b ok if renovated 4 flights stairs to walk up

Hi, Sorry to hear about your experience. The city rail link project is currently underway due to most roads are blocked. Shakespeare Hotel is a heritage building constructed in 1898 with no elevators.

So, it is an older property in a building with great character. A little challenge to find in that the Pub is obvious but not so obvious is the hotel above the pub. No elevator. Small rooms that will need some attention over time. Great location in central downtown. Fit all the things we needed.

Staff and service were super friendly and accommodating. Having the pub on the bottom floor was so convenient and they offered guests a discount on pub food and drink which was awesome as the pub food was super good 😊 Unfortunately no elevator which I can see being an issue for older visitors or those with a lot of luggage, but it was fine for us. We honestly did not mind the 4 floor walk up to our room every night. The building is old, but that adds to the charm and they provided us with plenty of blankets and a space heater to help with the Auckland winter. Had to keep the bathroom window open a crack to help with ventilation but after an hour or two it was fine to be shut. The hotel as a whole is super conveniently located and we could walk to anything located within the city center area, or just take the short walk to a bus/train stop(s) close by. From our room we could hear the regular city/street noises, but nothing too loud to keep us awake, and I'm a pretty light sleeper, so it doesn't take much to wake me up.

Good location, not so great room
The location is good and it's nice having a bar downstairs where you can grab a drink before calling it a night, but the room was definitely lacking. The room was small with a small window with no real view. The toilet was gross, and after taking a shower the condensation accumulated on the bathroom ceiling and dripped down onto me. Opening the bathroom window did nothing, since it was humid outside too. My allergies went crazy during my visit, so I'm sure the room had dust and/or mold hanging around.

Overnighter for work one staff was helpful the other female bartender was non engaging and didnt seem to want to be there. Room was fine but had a funny smell in it like curry smell maybe from the kitchen below but was a bit off putting. not worth it though was a cheap price i get what i paid for.

We booked this hotel specifically because it was a heritage builiding / there was not elevator but we were told our room was on the 2nd floor - it was on the 4th / manager refused to call a shuttle for us - he said he'd call a taxi but not a shuttle ($140 vs $40). We walked down the street to IBIS and they gladly called a shuttle and made a reservation / comfy bed - but besides that, a hard no for us
