Myself & a colleague stayed at the Stair for 1 night recently whilst working locally.
I can say that the Inn itself has a lovely cosy bar with a super open fire and a selection of draught beers with real ale.
The meals were of good quality with generous quantities both in the evening & at breakfast.
We asked for an early breakfast (standard time 8.00) for 7.00am & this was no trouble.
The rooms were ok, a decent size with Tea & coffee facilities however I found the bed a little squeaky & maybe a new mattress wouldn't go a miss.
My only area for real concern was the shower (room 5) it was no more than a dribble of water, yet the pressure at the sink was fine, this needs urgent attention!
The area is extremely quite, which is what I wanted, but would not suit anyone who may like to walk out at night for a beer elsewhere.
