Stair Inn weekend break.
Very enjoyable 2 night stay. Good Breakfast and good choice for lunches or evening meals. Bedroom a good standard. Ours was the kingsize which is slightly more spacious than others. Only grumble would be the shower which is not at all powerful. Very friendly staff and landlady gave us some excellent advice on places to visit nearby, the highlight of which was Dumfries House. An absolute must . The gardens and grounds are very child friendly and free to visit. The house tour has a £10 charge but well worth it for the enthusiastic guides who showcase the Chippendale furniture collection , the largest in the world apparently under one roof. Delightful countryside and coast are all very near and if you want city activities then Glasgow driveable or catch the train.

Lovely Hotel
Absolutely lovely hotel: would recommend it highly to anyone. Friendly staff, quiet, pretty setting. Loved it.

It was a nice stay for two days. I was on business so did not spend much time there. The service was prompt, friendly and accurate. The food was very good with out being pricey. It is a quiet social pub, where people talk rather than shout over the music. The down side (if you can say that) was the stairs are old fashioned steep so maybe not suitable for older people and the bath hose does not have a wall fitting, so it’s back to the Seventies ‘stand up and rinse down’. I liked it and will be back.

Great service, great food.
Myself & a colleague stayed at the Stair for 1 night recently whilst working locally. I can say that the Inn itself has a lovely cosy bar with a super open fire and a selection of draught beers with real ale. The meals were of good quality with generous quantities both in the evening & at breakfast. We asked for an early breakfast (standard time 8.00) for 7.00am & this was no trouble. The rooms were ok, a decent size with Tea & coffee facilities however I found the bed a little squeaky & maybe a new mattress wouldn't go a miss. My only area for real concern was the shower (room 5) it was no more than a dribble of water, yet the pressure at the sink was fine, this needs urgent attention! The area is extremely quite, which is what I wanted, but would not suit anyone who may like to walk out at night for a beer elsewhere.

Wonderful stay
Everything about our stay was wonderful. Friendly staff. Comfortable accommodations. Nice little pub and restaurant. Breakfast was very good. While some may find the rural location a negative, we found it to be part of the charm. Sitting outside on a picnic table on a warm late-spring evening, having a pint and watching the cows across the quiet road provided a lasting memory.

Lovely Inn and escape from the world
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the room itself was lovely and very clean. The restaurant and bar were also great and highly recommend the food! Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic.

Very friendly - nothing too much trouble
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff most helpful. It gave easy access to surrounding towns. Nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly want to use it again.

Quaint hotel close to where my ancestors lived.
Great breakfast. The hotel staff was a bit snippy when I asked to turn the heat on. It was chilly and rainy outside.

Single Room
Room and Service was great. Stayed to play golf locally which was also good, no hassle at all. Service in the restauraunt was flawless and the ribs and chicken wings were very tasty! Only thing that might put someone off was the room had a bathtap shower. Worked for me though! Would go back anytime..

Quiet location. Comfortable hotel.
Remote location with plenty of parking. Beautiful scenery. Homely and welcoming. Bar looked very comfortable but I was too late and tired to try it. Room was small but very clean, comfortable and well equipped, except for a lack of proper shower and a non functioning shaver socket. Breakfast was excellent. A fair price for a nice hotel.

The great little "Stair Inn".
An adequate ( not very exciting vegetarian ) dinner menu is the only slight fault with this wonderful hideaway in rural Ayrshire. I plan a return stay before the end of the year. A little gem of a country inn.
