1. Car parking not available. Booked this hotel in part because of its car park. Confusing diversion road signs and not being able to book a space ahead of time, meant that the car park was already full by the time we arrived and we ended up parking some distance away. Not warned of this at the time of booking. 2. Check-in time delayed and offered nowhere to store suitcase. The room was not still not ready by the check-in time of 3 pm and we were not offered anywhere to stow our suitcase while we waited. 3. WiFi terrible. WiFi signal was patchy and slow. 4. Staff were so-so and service was disappointing for a 4 star hotel. Overall was 'meh' and would not recommend.

The Francis hotel was beautiful! The staff checking us in was friendly and the room itself was also very comfortable. It's located right in the center of town and it was very easy to walk around. We loved our stay in Bath and would recommend his hotel to others visiting.

This was a same day/late booking, as the original accommodation for this stay had been double booked, which I only found out 20 mins before leaving home. I was happy to book the hotel as I had previously visited to attend an afternoon "Perfume Experience", so I did have an idea of what to expect. For this visit I was attending the "Perfume Experience" as part of a very special friend's 50th birthday present which als included overnight stay. Having had the stress & diappointment of dealing the alternative accommodation's double booking, I can honestly say that we were both more than happy to have stayed with you. From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely welcoming and couldn't have done more for us, weren’t able to check in as we were too ealy, however we were able to leave our overnight bags at reception and after explaining the stress of the accommodation fiasco, we were given a voucher for a free bottle of prosecco to help the birthday celebrations. When we did actually check in, we were informed our bags had already been put in our room. The room as well as the rest of the hotel were extremely clean and provide us with all that we needed for our stay. The complimentary teas, hot chocolate, milk and biscuits were greatly appreciated. Although, I had booked on a "room only" basis we paid for breakfast, which we took full advantage of - there was a good choice of cereals, fruit, drinks, bread, pastries and of course cooked items, which were still hot at 9.45am

Disappointed
I made a reservation at the Francis Hotel, Bath through hotels.com to celebrate a wedding anniversary on the 28th December 2023, for a cost of £219. Unfortunately, my wife and I both came down with COVID shortly before our stay and decided to be safe and not attend. I contacted the Francis Hotel on the 26th December 2023 to inform them that we could not attend, requesting either a refund or change of date. The reception staff informed me that as the reservation was made through a third party (Hotels.com), there was nothing they could do, and encouraged me to contact Hotels.com direct. I subsequently contacted Hotels.com, who informed me that the decision on a refund or change of dates lies with the Francis Hotel, and not them. Confused as to who I should contact, I again emailed the Francis Hotel requesting a refund or change of date to the booking but have heard nothing in reply. Disappointed that neither hotels.com or the Francis Hotel can assist in this matter.

Excellent staff but tired old rooms. I've never changed rooms in my life before but had to change twice for a one night stay. Reiterate that the staff were very helpful with this and indeed upgraded my room and comped me a glass of wine

Overpriced Travel Lodge
Came for New Year’s Eve, only one barman on, he said he couldn’t do a mojito cocktail as had no mint for four days, could no one have gone to a local shop to get some? No atmosphere in hotel despite being New Year. Very noisy outside our bedroom from various noises, very expensive for what it was and breakfast not even included!! Also, we found a needle in the car park which when we arrived set the tone for not a great stay. Tables on bar had no mats so were very sticky from where drinks had been sitting, also, a £20 parking charge for what was already a very overpriced stay.

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful, friendly and convenient hotel. Centred in the middle of Bath we were right where we needed to be. The only negative is the pricey parking…. A shame we had to pay so much to keep our car in site.

Lovely hotel - Breakfast £22
Lovely hotel, especially the communal areas and breakfast room and awesome location in central Bath. I wasnt impressed with the rooms apart from the bathroom which was well designed. Bedroom is drafty and cold, the heating didnt turn on. Breakfast is good but they charge you £22 this includes a service charge even for guests staying at the hotel. Staff everywhere are nice and helpful. Thanks!

Really enjoyed our stay especially as it was for our anniversary we even got a complimentary bottle of bubbles. Just ashame the prive for next year has literally doubled in price so unfortunately wont be coming back next year

Arrived with friends who booked direct - we felt like 2nd class guests as we had booked through Expedia.Breakfast cost £19.95 pp although another guest was offered breakfast for £15 pp. £15 rate requested but refused. Our perceptions were compounded when our friends had vouchers for free drinks but were not offered to us. If you don’t book direct - you’re not valued. Aside from this it’s a very pleasant hotel in great location m.

Great find in the centre of Bath. Room was well presented and comfortable. Bar service was good. Food and drink pricey. Long stay car park a short walk away. Loved this hotel and will be back.

All good except for: the heating system in the rooms. The controls seemed to cut out regularly and it was never quite warm enough The pillows - rock hard, the cheapest kind of fillings. The hotel should pay more attention to these basic things and less on things like fake antique telephones

Ideally located to walk around the beautiful historic city. Window in room needed replaced so was drafty. Some of the front desk staff were not that helpful. If they did not know the answer about parking and tours, they should have offered to find out. Great fish and chips though!

Great Location, Staff brilliant, fantastic Hotel, food and service was spot on, Parking was easy in the hotel Car park, although as I guest the £20 was nothing, but would have thought as staying at the Hotel should have been free.

Comfortable stay right in the centre of Bath. Great position, with parking as a bonus. Friendly helpful staff. The mini fridge with fresh milk and water was a great touch.

The Francis is beautifully located on Queen Square, within easy walking distance of Bath’s major tourist attractions. The room was clean and comfortable. Our evening meal in the restaurant was phenomenal. The restaurant is a hid gem. I can’t recommend it enough.
