Phka Villa is a lovely, family run hotel not too far from the centre of the city on the eastern side of the Sangker river. Overall the ambience is good and the breakfast is a choice of Khmer food or a western style continental breakfast. If there’s a low point, the bacon - when they have some - is the usual stripy stuff that wouldn’t be considered worthy of the name in Britain.
The coffee is excellent and the omelette always light and delicious.
There is a nice small swimming pool for the guests which does it’s job well or paddle and swim in or just sit around the outside drinking beer. (The pool would be better if its tiles were a brighter blue, but otherwise fine.)
The rooms are good, with an ensuite shower room and a balcony to let you sit in the shade.
Please remember, this is Asia, there will be mosquitoes, lizards, geckos and ants. If you can’t cope with these, you’ve come to the wrong continent, it’s not the hotels fault!
The Phka Villa is thoroughly recommended for solo visitors or couples and families.
