The Rolson is superbly managed. The rooms are super clean, and the restaurant is among the best around San Ignacio, with great food right on through to dessert. Awesome drinks as well… The wife and I recently purchased property nearby, and we now we plan to make “The Rolson” our base in Cayo during the construction of our new home. It’s that good!

If you are lucky enough to be in Belize you'll know differently places different standards. This place has a wonderful staff, helpful and friendly. The hotel has a beautiful pool views and the restaurant has a great selection of fresh foods.

The Rolson was a great stay in San Ignacio…the staff was so friendly and accommodating….it was convenient to have a restaurant on the premises that served delicious food. The tour guides were able to pick us up there at the lobby for our excersions. I would definitely stay at the Rolson again.

Nice hotel stay to tour the area.
Excellent hotel in San Ignacio. We used it as our base to explore this part of the country. (Caracol. Xunantunich, Cahal Pech, etc.). On site restaurant, we had the house specialty- BBQ pork ribs with rice, cole slaw. Delicious!!! 4-7pm Happy hour- Bucket of 6 bottles beer, $12.50 US. Get the mountain view rooms, great view of valley.

We stayed here for 3 nights….it is a mid range hotel with a great pool. The restaurant is awesome and it has amazing views. We loved the staff at this hotel and they set us up with a once in a lifetime day trip to Tikal.

I wouldn't stay here again even if it was free. I called for a shuttle pickup, it came but picked up other guests who arrived later and didnt have room for us so we waited over an hour to get to the hotel. Check in process was interrupted multiple times by other guest needs. Room floor was dirty, bathtub was full of hair and used toiletries, clearly overlooked by the housekeeping department. I went to use the hair dryer, it fell apart, I'm lucky I didn't get electrocuted. When I asked the front desk for one, the agent said he would check some other rooms for one and bring it by IF he found one. He did show up wth one 25 minutes later! I needed it to dry a bag, they did inform me that there was a dryer for $2. I told them I didn't have US change so had to wait for the hair dryer. Maybe the front desk person could have taken this opportunity to go above and beyond and dryed my bag or put a few quarters into a machine for me that they would have gotten back. I would have requested a room change or gotten a different hotel if we had more time. General hotel cleanliness not great either, dirt, qtip on stairs etc.Food tasty and service was friendly. Should have had another server scheduled, one was not enough. He was helpful polite and efficent for how busy it was! I cut my finger in the morning and the front desk agent couldnt even find me a bandaid. Seriously? Your staff are capable, train them and give them the tools they need.to do their jobs. Hotel shuttle.pickup was on time.

Hi Cheryl, it's unfortunate to hear that you received such a bad service at a hotel. However, we feel the need to tell you that we truly believe you are mistaken our hotel with another. We don't have any rooms with a bathtub in them. Our rooms are inspected daily and thoroughly. Our hair dryers cannot be removed from the wall so there is no way the front desk could have checked other rooms for one and bring it to you. We always have extra at front desk and we do not charge for it. We do not have any machine/dryers either so this is why we truly believe you are mistaking us with another hotel that you stayed at. Lastly, we do not have any male servers, female waitresses only!

Not the best
Top be fair, I'm not sure there are many great options in San Ignacio unless perhaps if you're staying in one of the resorts. The main issue with this hotel is the location - it's an unpleasant and hilly 30 minute walk on the shoulder of the highway to get to downtown, which is the only area where you'll find some decent food options. The room was large but in a poor state. Stains, spider webs, etc. Water pressure in the shower was very low, and the shower was very moody and required a lot of tinkering to get any kind of warm water, at which point the water would immediately become scorching hot. Office hours are short, so there is no way to get any food before you leave on an excursion of any sort, for example. Laundry service is very expensive.

Hi Yotam, First off I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. However, allow me to address this not so fair review... Firstly, your "main" issue was beyond our control. The location of our hotel is on google maps and it is also stated that it is a 15-20 minute walk to town and about 5 minutes driving. You chose our hotel despite having other options closer to town. Secondly, on our reservation forms we specifically ask if our guests would like housekeeping which is free of charge, you chose no housekeeping for your 3 nights stay. Thirdly, the water pressure needs to be adjusted to the temperature you like and you didn't come down for assistance so we were unaware that you needed help with this. Fourthly, you stayed with us during a holiday season in Belize (in regards to short hours).

Very nice and clean. On the hill just out side of town it was a little cooler than town. It was about a 15 minute walk to town, and a $2.50 USD taxi ride back up the hill. The staff was really helpful about finding tourist activities.

The staff went out of their way to open the restaurant for breakfast two hours early for us. And they miraculously found mimosas when we asked for them. On site massages were very nice.

Le personnel est aimable et les chambres sont propres. Nous avions une odeur dans la salle de bain qui a disparu après la première nuit. La climatisation est bruyante. La piscine est très propre et très agréable. Le seul soucis que nous avons eu est d’avoir dû payer 10usd supplémentaire par nuit pour notre fille de 12 ans. Ce n’etait pas précisé dans les conditions de vente Hôtel.com. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. We had a smell in the bathroom that disappeared after the first night. The air conditioning is noisy. The pool is very clean and very nice. During Check-in, we had was to pay 10USD extra per night for our 12 year old daughter. This was not specified in the Hotel.com sales conditions.

However, on the date you checked in, management received your complaint and went in the room immediately and no smell whatsoever was in the air, which you then said that the scent had vanish. Our policies clearly states that children above the age of 12 years is charge $10US per night and is advertised on all our websites. Once again thank you for choosing Rolson Hotel for your accommodation stay while in beautiful Belize.

Thank you for choosing Rolson Hotel for your accommodation stay in lovely Belize. In regards to your review our hotel is less than a mile from the center of town, its really a walking distance(20mins). December to April is our high season so most of our rooms are booked daily, our checkout time is 11am so we need the time frame for the room to be cleaned for our new guest which we emphasize that check in time is at 2pm. Early Check-ins are welcome to enjoy the food at our Mexican style restaurant.

Great stay at Rolson Hotel
Rolson Hotel had great service, wonderful staff, comfortable beds, nice pool. We ate at their restaurant quite a bit and the food was very good.Beautiful views of San Ignacio and surrounding area from hotel. It is located a little ways from the centre of town but walkable. I would recommend taxi to return because of uphill walk back and taxis are cheap and easily accessible. There is grocery store nearby but not many restaurants. And yes there are a lot of dogs barking at night but you seem to have that a lot in Belize.

Had to check-in a little late due to room not being ready but was allowed to sit by pool. Had great stuffed jalapeño and great breakfast. Enjoyed the pool even though a little strict on clothing and kids swimming on next end. All in all was a good time.

However, when the person prior to you checking in checks out at 11 we have to allow the housekeepers time to clean the room an prepare it for you. Nice Hotel
This hotel was very nice, the staff was helpful, the room was clean, the WIFI worked well and the air conditioning was nice (if a bit loud). It's a tiny bit outside of town but a cab was only $5BZD ($2.5USD) one direction (cab prices appear to be set since it was the same price every time). It was nice and quiet since it was a bit further away. The pool was nice although I couldn't find the towels. The restaurant was yummy and the breakfast was delicious. Only issue was the restaurant is definitely on "island" time (yes, I know it's not an island). They're very relaxed which is nice but also means if you have an early pick up you may not have time to eat breakfast. Overall a very nice stay and a very nice price.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rolson Hotel. Felipe was beyond helpful and booked all of our tours for us and made our stay very fun and memorable. The hotel was sitiuated a few kilometers outside San Ignacio. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly and the restaurant good.
