I was initially given a room I hadn't booked, so had to go through the rigmarole of changing rooms then moving all my stuff. The bed and pillows were far too soft and I woke up with horrendous back pain. For a huge bathroom, the bath was tiny and uncomfortable. There were blinds in the bathroom, but they didn't fit the windows perfectly so, especially at night, I didn't feel comfortable in the bathroom. The food in the restaurant was expensive and the portion sizes too small. I wouldn't have minded the price if there was more on the plate. Not a pleasant experience really.

Unexpected overnighter
Service at reception was superb upon arrival. Room was spacious with a nice bathroom. A bit tired but character features. Room could have been cleaner which is the only disappointment. Had dinner and breakfast and both meals were excellent.

One night Saturday stay
We stayed a Saturday night when a wedding was in full flow. Check in was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet, being separate from the main building. The bar area was relatively small and dominated by wedding guests which was a negative. The kitchen shut at 9pm and no hot food available from room service which was disappointing. Breakfast was good and buffet style. The room was comfortable but the TV and channel options basic. I think it was slightly expensive for what it was.

A little gem
Upon arrival we were made to feel at home with very good service and a nice lovely large comfortable room, that had excellent views of the grounds and the wider countryside.

Terrible - don’t let the outside photos fool you! Firstly there was a sick stain on the carpet which wasn’t very pleasant. The room was unbearably hot despite turning heating off and opening windows. There was a wedding which went on to at least 3pm and it was incredibly loud and we had no sleep at all. Table was dirty at breakfast with really bad buffet style fry up - that was not worth the money at all get better in ikea. Room key never worked meaning we had to go down to lobby to get it changed every time we went into room. Very limited parking I suspect due to wedding and not the best conditions for a low car!

Very quiet and safe hotel which includes the annex rooms with great views. The rooms smelt a little fusty because the carpets need a good clean or changing. Situated on the first floor and being non smokers we did notice in the morning that a smoker was on the ground floor room terrace below our room smoking, not pleasant if your having a lay in. If the rooms could be updated the room rate would be acceptable, unfortunately a little overpriced.

Manoir avec un certain cachet, mais qui n’est pas très chaleureux. Par chance, les employées à la réception, de jour, sont super gentilles et serviables. Il manque d’ambiance dans le bar, j’y ai pris un lunch en début d’après-midi, pas de musique, plate à mort… La propreté de la chambre laisse à désirer, surtout au niveau des tapis, ils sont dûs pour un bon lavage, au minimum, un coup d’aspirateur. Il y avait des cernes de tasse de café sur le rebord des fenêtres, des toiles d’araignées après les cadrages intérieurs… Et en terminant, c’est loin de tout. En moins de 24h, il m’en a coûté 135 livres stirling de taxi..de l’aéroport au Manoir, à la gare de Redhill, retour de la gare et retour à l’aéroport. C’est perdu au milieu de nulle part. Si vous y venez en voiture c’est parfait, mais si vous dépendez des taxis, c’est autre chose. Et il n’y a pas d’Uber dans ce coin…

We had an excellent stay at Hartsfield Manor. The staff were all very friendly and it was nice to stay in a manor hotel. Only minor complaint would be the bathroom was small and the bed was only a double not king!

This is a well maintained historical manor hotel which situated in a quiet little village about 40 minutes away from Gatwick airport by Taxi. Our room was Modern and clean. We love their Typical English countryside view from their backyard. Breakfast and dinner are served nicely. The only issue we had is the check in time took too long. Even we were the only guest at that time to do the check in.

Great stay, even if the rooms are tired
Great stay! Room was a bit tired and there was a slight issue with reception putting my payment against another room! But overall the grounds themselves are nice and the service was decent too.

Filthy place. Avoid.
Turned up at the hotel to be told the restaurant was shut. The hotel could have called or emailed ahead to advise this then i wouldn't have stayed without food. My room was in the annex building which in 31 degree heat and no air con, was quite frankly like being in the desert. The whole annex building was disgustingly filthy. Floors on the way through have not seen a vacuum in weeks. The floor in the room was no better. The floor has not seen a vacuum in weeks, with old clothes plastic tags, crumbs of food and general dirt on the floor. Surfaces are stained and dirty. Kettle is dirty and manky. The cleaner should be ashamed of themselves

Dear Suzanne, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I do apologise for no information being sent to you with regards to the restaurant being unavailable. We do have a new system launched, sending an email over to all guests three days before their visit to inform them that we do have weddings throughout the week that could cause for the restaurant to be unavailable. I will have a look into this to make sure that they are being received. I have passed your comments about the cleanliness in the charlwood building onto my housekeeping team to make sure this does not happen again. Manor stay
Overall good stay ,reception a little slow with not knowing if i booked breakfast,in restraunt a little slow in service ,but staff pleasant and riom very good
