You do get what you pay for
Room was clean enough to stay in for a night. Showers did have a mild amount of black mould in them so could do with a clean! Location is ok not too far from town new street by taxi. You get the very basic so no hair dryer or trouser press (as to be expected for the price) so bring your own. You do get towels, a TV and some draws. Shared kitchen with tea and coffee making facit that are stocked but no milk in the fridge when I went. The rooms are not amazingly big

Booked ... turned up that was about it . Smelly damp . Dont mind ruffing it but that was a joke. Didnt stay slept in my van !!!

Extremely Basic and primitive.
Extremely basic and tatty rooms with shared bathrooms also very tatty. Tea and Coffee making on landing! Very disappointed in the comfort levels and bathroom set up.

More of a hostel than a hotel. Shared facilities between rooms. Facilities not been cleaned (lots of hairs in showers, and stains on toilets). Shower drains blocked. Light fittings not attached to ceilings, smoke alarms covered with bubble wrap (is that even safe??). Walls incomplete with timber frames showing. Blinds not covering windows so lack of privacy. Hole in bathroom door so again lack of privacy.

Liked nothing . It was dirty, noisy and uncomfortable , didn't get any sleep, hated every minute left by 7.30 next morning couldn't wait to get out, if we had been able to drive we would not have stayed.

Very polite service and easy checkout but...
No hot water in the showers and the radiators were not exactly working either. Also a group of guests was very loud all night long. Appreciate that there is only so much management can do but I got zero rest that night.

People that came to the hotel who we happened to know. Booked separate rooms. One of them broke the glass in the door when we were all asleep. I have been charged and I think it is appalling. I booked a room In the day time. They booked a SEPERATE room on the night. As far as I’m concerned they are just another customer. Doesn’t matter whether I know then or not. Ridiculous I will not pay it as it is not my responsibility and it had nothing to do with me doesn’t matter whether I know the people or not

Adaquit for what we needed at good price.
Staff nice and helpful. Small room. But was what we needed, 3 beds and our own toilet / shower. Room not finished but not unusable. Buses stops close. Easy to get to tram and busses to down town core. Heating had an issue but they have extra heater when needed.

Just needed somewhere quick to stay overnight . Staff welcoming and friendly . Quiet . Bed comfy. Car park not very big but plenty of space just outside gate with no parking fees which was a bonus . Ok for what we wanted and would use again

Quiet location which was easily accessible to the city centre via local buses. Was made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Included a shared kitchen, we were told that we could help ourselves to tea and coffee which was a great gesture. Also, we were told which Wi-Fi to use, which was free.

For the extremely low price I wasn’t expecting much from this hotel, but it really exceeded my expectations! Aside from a little dust on the tv (which really doesn’t bother me) the room was clean and cosy. The bathroom and kitchen are communal but both well stocked with toiletries and tea/coffee/crockery etc respectively. The bathroom could be a bit cleaner but of course it’s always going to be hard to keep a communal bathroom spotless and overall it was fine. The guy who runs the place was so lovely, approachable and really helpful. Luckily we didn’t have to bother him for anything in the night but I really got the impression that if we had needed anything he would have been happy to help. There isn’t much parking space at all, but fortunately the parking on the residential roads surrounding the hotel was (as far as I could see) free, which was a plus. It is a short and very cheap taxi journey into the city centre so not a bad location. We found it to be good value for money!

Cheap & cheerful.
Cheap & perfect for or 4 lads to stay for a concert. Only a 5 min taxi drive in to Broad St. Rooms were simple but very clean and comfy beds. You can tell it's going through a bit if a refurb but don't let that detract from its simplicity in what you need. Definitely stay here again, nice friendly staff who were very accomadating. Cheers :-)

Not a Hotel a Hostel.
This hotel is really a hostel. It is currently under redevelopment which doesn't help your first reaction. Staff are helpful. However, room wasn't very clear, floor was a little dirty. My room was near the front door and wasn't very well sound proofed which meant I could hear everyone come in. The only saving grace was that it was cheap.

A nice clean room ,despite the ongoing building work. We had a small booking issue but this was dealt with promptly by a very helpful and pleasant young man. We are sure that when all the improvements are complete this will be a good place to stay if a bit out of city centre.

Friendly service and close to town.
The lodge was clearly under going work but the guy who runs it is so friendly and helpful. It is so cheap and close to town it was perfect for us. Brilliant for what it is.

(1) No room key..Only a lock on the door needing numbers and letters which was complicated to say the least. As there were 2 different codes for the front door and the room I stayed in written on a paper card that had been crumpled and used many times before.. (2)When we opened the door to the room we noticed that there were NO curtains only ill fitting latts in the windows which can be seen on the upstairs right on the photo!! As soon as the sun came up at 4.30am the room was flooded with light and was impossible to remain asleep!!!! (3)The laminate floor was dirty, and there was dust on the furniture... (4) The T.V. only had an internal antenna which was not connected to the wall which we had to stick to the top of the screen as whenever anyone moved in the room the T.V. signal was lost.. (5) Beds hard and uncomfortable!! (6) There were only (2) plug sockets in the room with extension blocks attached. One on the tallboy drawers that the T.V. was taking all the space so that anything plugged in was in front of the smeared screen. (7) No ensuite hot drink making facility!!! We had to leave the room and use a communal kitchen area that was under repair!!! (8) No way to refill kettle other than to take a cup to the nearest bathroom and use the sink to fill and take back!!! (9) Human blood on communal hall floor outside kitchen area. That was not noticed or cleaned by hotel staff!!! (10) Glass windows behind toilets!!! (11) Bathrooms missing mirrors above sinks!!

A nice place to stay great for self catering accom
A nice clean room with TV and plenty of sockets for phones pc etc no need for a portable kettle as there was a fully operational kitchen with kettle toaster and cooker, only requirements maybe a can opener and pots but for microwave meals and reheating food it'd be great, there was central heating and the rooms were lovely and warm of an evening,however I would suggest a shower before bed as the heating system turns off in the morning and with a full hotel the hot water soon runs cold, but I had a great stay and would stay again, as much tea and coffee as you need with sugar available and milk tubs too suggest buying a bottle of long life before arrival, as local shops are not so close and those that are, are a tad unfriendly, The Brothers that own the hotel were great hosts, there is a lot of work still in progress, I would like to see the finished product, Thanks for a very enjoyable stay, Highly recommended,

Friendly and good price but lots of guest noise
The hotelier greeted me and ended up in a better room with two beds instead of one. Everything explained to me. Bed was nice and had tv although some channels had interference. Very good price for what you get. Free coffee, tea etc which was a nice perk. Only problem is noise of others in house getting up at all sorts of hours.

You get what you pay for.
Make no mistake, this is a very low budget hotel. The beds are small single size beds. The floors creak rather loudly. While there are several bathrooms, they are small. And shared, just like the small kitchenette. The back yard is messy and unkempt, just like most of Birmingham in general. However, my room was very clean and comfortable. It smelled just fine. The WiFi was strong. I got lucky and had a nice view from the second story room. And best of all, the staff were very polite and eager to please. Honestly, no one could have done better given an old house and small space. There are several eateries within walking distance, as long as you're into Indian food, mostly. Stay here only if you want a low price and a quiet street, not necessarily for all the extra comforts.

Friendly staff.
Really nice guy who was very helpful. Has a kitchen available with fridge, microwave and sink. I stayed on the ground floor and only issue is that you can hear pretty much any movement going on upstairs. I’m a deep sleeper so didn’t really effect me.

The photo's of the rooms are close to accurate but the photo's of the building are a total misrepresentation . The building its self is the one hidden behind the railings - the old church building and grand house are total fabrication. This place is more like a temp bed sit for asylum seekers or temp housing for DHSS claimants There is NO reception all you are provided is a text message with the door lock codes - if you want tea / coffee they do provide a community kitchen but remember to take all your own coffee, milk, sugar and cup/spoon etc. The area / location appeared to be a desolate part of the town with a mini scrap yard to one side of the house, in general we didn't feel safe there and only stayed as we had nothing else booked

Not worth your money. It's a hostel not hotel!!
This is worst then hostel type of accomdation not an hotel. In the freezing winter night the heating was turned off. We were left with very thin quilt. Not worth the money. The building was very noisy at night where people getting in and out of room made lot of noise. The money charged is far too much and not worth for the room and service you get. I was given wrong codes for the property and had to call the owner or caretaker several times. The location is rubbish too with the dumps seen across the place. Not worth
