I’ve stayed here twice in the same building. The room is excellent but the door is not soundproof and the bottom of the door is too short and this week there was so much cold air blowing in that we had to stuff towels under it.

Great Starting Point for Cape Breton
What an unexpected surprise. This motel is well kept, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was awesome. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed for one night, as planned. Our room was supposed to have a lake view. it did not. Check-in was easy and staff was friendly. Buffet breakfast was just OK. Lots of food but quality was mediocre. Restaurant on site not opened for lunch. Our room was in a building next to the main building but there was no lock on that building's door. Microwave in hallway for everyone to use was broken and not clean. Room door locks were not great. Husband ended up being locked in the laundry room as the lock on that door was broken. We stayed in Cape Breton for 10 days and this was the most expensive accommodation. I was certainly expecting a lot more value for $251.00

Absolutely stunning view of the lake and if the weather had cooperated, we would have sat on the deck with morning coffee or have enjoyed a before bed beverage at night. It is centrally located so daily excursions were not too long in any direction. The management is extremely friendly. The dining room overlooks this view too!! It is a standard motel but with qualities like these, it makes staying there a great option. We basically were there to sleep as we were out during the day and returned quite late at night...Celtic Colours Season. We stayed 4 nights with no regrets.

Room 52 was unsanitary. The pictures in the advertisement does not reflect the room. I spoke with Mack very professional in person, offered a room replacement which I declined. He said he will issue a refund after reaching out to Expedia. However, Expedia said it was the responsibility of the management to issue a refund. Called back the receptionist who made few excuses. I was promised a callback which never happened. Expedia Agent advised that Mack refused to issue a refund. We were fooled.

Good experience for family!
Good experience overall! We checked in late and received warm welcome at the office was upgraded to Lakeview room. The owner was very courteous and was supervising breakfast himself. Breakfast is worth mentioning- fresh and with a view! I would recommend to my friends and family!

Good breakfast options, room was comfortable and clean. very close to road so daytime car noise made it hard to open the front window, but at night it was quiet. No AC so keep that in mind if that is important to you. This property was convenient for our stay. Easy 10 minutes to Baddeck, easy to reach the Cabot Trail and other sights in Cape Breton area. I would stay here again and recommend it for other travellers.

Convenient location for accessing the Cabot Trail. Beautiful location on the water. Breakfast (included) is great. Restaurant onsite offers fried chicken only but is good. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

We so enjoyed our stay at Trailsman Lodge. Beautiful property and well kept. Lovely lake view and we were able to enjoy the full moon rising over the lake. Continental breakfast was fresh and good. We had our 1st poutine the night before. Very good. We would stay again if in the area.

Convenient for visiting Cape Breton. Parking outside the room door was great. Fabulous view of the Lake. Good breakfast. Staff were friendly. The room did have a few cobwebs but daily cleaning was good. Dining in evening was chicken n chips/burger n chips. so a bit limited. The aircon was very noisy. It would have been good to be able to open the windows with screens and have fresh air. Overall, a good base for exploring the area.

Room was dirty and smelled also had stained bed sheets. Found garbage on the floor by the bed and food in the chair beside. I canceled my second night and slept in my clothes on top of the bedding.

Fantastic stay. Staff were very nice. Breakfast was good, typical free hotel breakfast but no complaints. The restaurant is good. They really only serve chicken but it's quite good and hot!! Great view of the lake from the lake view rooms. Only real downside is that the exhaust fan in the bathroom really doesn't remove any moisture from showering and the windows don't open so it makes the room very humid. Other than that, a very nice property with nicely updated rooms.

Stayed in lovely clean room with king bed overlooking the bay. Recommend to others. Restaurant and breakfast that was included excellent. You can tell owner and his family take pride in their property. Laundry onsite a bonus after 2 weeks of travelling .

Great accommodation!
We had a very good 6 day stay. Our room with king sized bed and lake view was very comfortable. Breakfast with some hot dishes was quite adequate although there was little change over our 6 days. Best of all was the great attitude of the staff who were always glad to happily provide whatever assistance we needed. A large motel professionally operated.
