The bar was quaint and seemed popular. The accommodation was appauling. We did not stay! The room was cramped, badly stained carpet, far too hot (November!) which explaines the huge black dirty tower fan next to the bed. The ensuite had a wash bowl encrusted with years of green limescale over the whole bowl. The shower head constantly poured water and was left to drain laid over the drain in the tray. We were warned not to trip over the shoes strewn in the corridor!! Do not stay here.

Lovely pub in the countryside, on a main road but traffic eased about 11pm, i stayed in the captains room which at 5ft 9in there was a bit of ducking to be done, the manager advised they are slowly (due to cv19) refurbishing the rooms, mine was due one but was certainly comfortable. What sold it for me was the food and atmosphere, friendly staff and much nicer for a single person business traveller than a big faceless hotel group.

Very nice, comfortable and clean.
This Hotel is for me the perfect example of a cosy, clean and high quality hotel. Very helpfull and friendly staff and a great restaurant with very tastfull food!

Weekend break
Very lovely stay, good service, excellent breakfast and evening meals. Our room was very comfortable if a little hot at night. Bathroom facilities were small but clean and with a good shower. Popular pub with a good atmosphere.

The Ivy House is a quaint old style place to stay. The staff were very pleasant and polite.The room we had ( Captains) was adequate in size although I would prefer a little more room in the shower, as it was a bit on the small size. I only mention this as I’m not a big man.(12 stone,5ft 7ins ) Bed was comfortable and bedding clean. Breakfast was excellent, just right amount of food, not over facing, and well presented. Endless coffee. Brilliant for my wife. Pricing was on the top side, but you are staying just outside London, which is probably to be expected. Our stay overall was very pleasant and would stay again. Quaint pub/ inn located in the beautiful foot of the Chilterns. Rooms are small but clean, overall the place gives off a warm, friendly feeling.Dinner was excellent, one of the best fish pies I've ever had.

Staff were superb.Friendly and helpful Food was excellent We just felt the en-suite needed some TLC. The basin was cracked and grouting in the shower was grubby. However we would certainly not hesitate to stay there again

Clean room, with everything needed for a nights stay. Could hear the music from the bar downstairs but not too intrusive. Good breakfast. Evening meal at the the restaurant was great. A nice quick and easy check in and out. I would stay again.

Nice hotel lovely breakfast
This was a nice friendly hotel. The bed comfortable and bathroom clean and nice. However, the live band was very loud till midnight on both the nights we stayed, plus the noise of the road kept me awake for most of the night. It would've been nice to have bottled water in the room rather than tap in a bottle. Taste not very good. Nice people and nice breakfast and restaurant was handy on arrival, but once again band too loud.

Plenty of positives and only one real negative...
I’ll start with the negatives, or I should negative, as there was only really one - the hotel is situated next to a main road. My room was on the side of the road and it being a warm night, I had the window cracked. As a result, you could hear road noise. Because I am a regular traveller I always use earplugs at night and therefore did not hear a thing. The room I stayed in was very quaint - not the largest room but was very well decorated, had an original oak beam and had everything I needed - especially a very comfortable bed, a powerful shower, good Wi-fi and very nice coffee bags (not bog standard Nescafé granules). The breakfast was excellent (made from quality ingredients) and came with a proper Americano. I would rate this as 4/5 and would definitely stay again.

Nice place but disappointing bathroom
The staff and general facilities were pleasant but the bathroom had not extractor and the small closet shower and bathroom ceiling were covered in mould.

Excellent hotel, slightly noisy
Nice small, local hotel. Excellent restaurant for breakfast and dinner (higher end wine 'n' dine). The only downside is that the road next to it produces a bit of sounds. Hopefully more isolation can be put in a next refurbishment.

Lovely room in a really nice country pub. The room was really comfortable and clean, I had a great night's sleep and a tasty breakfast in the morning. I stayed in the Captain's Room, and I can't speak for the others, but I would say that if you're over about 5'6" I wouldn't choose that room, as very picturesque exposed beams are extremely low! Great night's sleep in a lovely hotel, but I'd recommend more strongly to those of a smaller stature...

A really pleasant small hotel with good food. Excellent value. There are only 2 minor things I could in any way suggest could be improved on. I had some trouble getting the radiator to turn off, but it was fine in the end, and the car park emerges straight onto a major road. I shall be back in the area in a few weeks and if there is a room will book again.

Great place and amazing staff
The location is beautiful, with views over fields. There is a large car park, and it is easy to find. The pub itself is a lovely traditional room, and the bedroom was wonderful. It was perfect for my overnight stay, however I wish I could have stayed longer! The bed was very comfortable and there was a big fan which was useful during the hot night. The bathroom is lovely and clean, and the shower very hot and powerful! Most importantly, the staff were incredible and I cannot thank them enough. Shortly after my arrival my phone decided to go for a swim in the toilet, and therefore broke. Being in a new place, hundreds of miles from home, and on my own, it was tough as I needed to contact family to let them know I had arrived safe. Not only did they allow me to use their phone to ring home, one member of staff allowed me to use her personal mobile to find the location of my job interview the next day, as well as contact my boyfriend to let him know what had happened. They also provided me with a bowl of rice to dry my phone out (luckily its working now!). Breakfast in the morning was great, made to order fry up, tea and orange. If I didn't have to rush off for the interview I could have stayed longer to enjoy every bite! Overall this is a fantastic place to stay, and I would love to come back in the future.
