I politely let them know we were unsatisfied both during the stay and in an email afterwards. No actions were taken at all. They say ‘thank you for raising this”. Really loud music going on when we arrived and until past 11pm. We were very close to the noise though they said that if we didn’t attend the celebration they have a policy of assigning us a room far from the noise. Did not happen. They strongly advised we book a table for breakfast so as to get any food at all. The latest possible time for it was 8:30am. Almost completely empty restaurant even after 9:30 am so we were really not sure why they made us wake up early on our holiday. Restaurant closed early in the evening, we ordered Chinese which was the only option. The ceiling panels in the spa are almost falling down. The steam room was out of order. The gym requires an additional payment, no note on that on their website. Definitely not worth the steep price. Never going back. The receptionist was great though, booked us a taxi driver that took extra care that we would be at the train station on time.

Thank you for your comments. We did ask you in your confirmation if you were attending the function and advised in this same letter the hotel will be noisier than normal. You did not respond to this therefore not giving us the opportunity to allocate your room accordingly prior to arrival. Breakfast is bookable on arrival and the latest time is 09.45, when you booked the only available time was 08.30, due to having 60 residents that evening. Swim Steam and sauna is free during your stay all other facilities are chargeable as taken as per your confirmation letter, we do appreciate not every one reads this fully.

We chose this hotel for its location for a family matter we needed to take care of. On approaching the hotel, the views across the firth were amazing!! The online check in completed a day before meant we had minimal to do at reception, with staff member being really helpful and explained that the swimming pool, gym and games area were included in the price, and xould be used as often as we liked and positively encouraged us to use it. The food served for breakfast and evening meal was fantastic. The choices for the evenings were not overwhelming so it was very easy to select something. The hotel room was very clean, super large bed and very good shower. I was so happy with this choice and would happily stay there again.

Im sorry to say that my stay was not so good. At night there was pipe noise every so often, couldnt sleep because of this. Swimming pool area looked filthy. Something wasnt covered in the steamroom so there was a puddle of boiling water there which burned my foot. That is a massive health and safety hazard. Staff member did go to sort this out after we said something, but there was no empathy, apology or nothing. No care in the world. I screamed when this happened. Nobody bothered to even look what happened until we said something. Breakfast was cold and not nice, vegetarian option is not good could of added a veggie sausage for example. Scramble Eggs tasted like powdered eggs Coffee not good. When checking out explained our experience, but reception didnt seem bothered just seemed like wanted rid of us only said 'shame' no im sorry, not caring or empathic at all. I get it I cant expect much from a 3star hotel but everyone seemed miserable, could atlest improve try to be more apologetic and show some empathy to unhappy customer that pays to have half decent service. Came home hungry, tired and with burned foot instead of rested and happy

Poor quality
We arrived before 6pm but we’re told the only available times that we had to book for breakfast was between 8am and 8:45am! The hotel simply wasn’t 4 star although rated as such on hotels.com website. The room needed updated. The shower had a sunken shower tray which almost flooded over each time it was used and took ages for the water to drain away. There was no hot tub as advertised and the swimming pool steam room and sauna were very disappointing. When dining in the restaurant it seemed like we were on a conveyor belt being pushed along - not at all relaxing or enjoyable!

Happy customer!
Lovely hotel with fantastic views and short walk to beach. Room was spacious and had everything you needed. Restaurant provided excellent meals, although basic choice. Only slight down side was the pool was small and shared with caravan park so had quite a few children in it but did not detract from stay. Location was good for sightseeing in the Fife/Dundee area.

Our stay at pettycur Bay hotel
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff very attentive and friendly. The bay was spotless. Our breakfast and evening meal were excellent.

This is a family-oriented property with facilities for children (pool, various game rooms, near beach). It would e less suitable for anyone seeking walkable nightlife or off-premises dining. Staff is friendly and efficient.

The wifi is complementary should you come to the desk and ask for a code, my apologise you weren't aware.All rates are inclusive of breakfast and complementary Swim Steam and Sauna, all other services are chargeable as taken.

We have an option for a code for the Wifi at the Reception should you have required this. The beds are zip and link to enable us to interchange from twin to Kingsize which is a relatively large bed.I am unsure to your comment regarding the choice at breakfast, there is a large selection of continental options, and a variety of hot options.Kind regards

Overnight stay at the beautiful Bay
Very friendly welcome and check in. The room was spacious and had very good facilities. We used the Horizon restaurant which was excellent and we had lovely food which was good value for money and had fantastic views over the bay. Breakfast was superb too. Thanks for a wonderful overnight stay. We will be returning.

We made reservations for a Deluxe room with an ocean view at The Bay Hotel back in April. We were not happy to arrive in August to find we were direcrly beside a party room where there was a function that evening. We asked to be moved to another room with a view and were told the only room available was considered an upgrade and that we would have to pay to have that room. (There WAS a small written statement at the very bottom of the confirmation email that asks if you are part of any private function at the hotel and that it could be noisy, so they felt they covered themselves and were not responsible for moving us).The party went on until midnight and it was like we were right in the party room with them. The email address we were given to contact the General Manager bounced back and nobody followed up with us or offered any kind of compensation. The confirmation email also gave us a link asking us to pre-register before arriving which did not work. The facility was nice and food good but we definitely feel like we were taken advantage of. Most facilities do NOT put rooms beside banquet halls and we feel that the onus should have been on the hotel to notify us about the room location and not tell us they are in the clear because of a tiny clause at the bottom of the confirmation email. Be aware when registering!

Wi fi very poor. Shower lacking in pressure. All the front facing rooms are for Families. Not as Luxurious as expected for the price paid. Room not serviced although the sign left on door. They had two weddings on so very busy. Best bit was the breakfast which was huge and possibly too much.

Genuinely awful. Room not clean, offered a downgrade of room but would not change price. Couldn’t be less helpful. Pool swarmed. People could see into my room.

deluxe room with sea view.well for a start the so called sea view was part hidden by trees and a overgrown and unattended plant area,the terrace in front of the room has never been cleaned in weeks making the sitting area unpleasant.in the room itself the fridge was found to be dirty,a lot of areas had never seen duster for a while,the shower in the bathroom had lacked power upgrade to power shower required,all in all expected better.the horizon resturant is the one bright spot serving good food.
