I liked it, some of you may not like it though.
Okay, first off, you gotta keep in mind how much you pay for it. Comparing to other hotels in Cairns City, The Hotel Cairns is a bit cheaper. Wifi: I just occasionally needed a short wifi connection to use messenger in my cell: so if you need a constant internet connection and it is important for you, this may not be the hotel you want. I had to walk down to the reception desk area in order to get a better reception of wifi. Wifi was on and off. But it was free anyway. Some of hotels have really bad wifi reception but you still have to pay just to use it. Air-conditioning wasn't bad but very weak wind: but since I don't want my room too cold, this was actually one I liked about. Swimming towels provided. I read before I booked this hotel that the breakfast is Chinese style. The hotel is internally connected to the next door Chinese restaurant where the breakfast is provided. However, it certainly is a western style breakfast, just with a noddle within the selection. Fruit was so fresh and good. Would have been even better if there was an egg scramble (no egg scramble for the entire stay) It seems the hotel is run by Chinese owner: many staffs are Chinese but they can speak English okay so no problem with communication. They were all nice. My room made a loud noise when I turned on the tap water so the receptionist changed my room in the next day. Furniture are not new. A bit old but I liked it. Homely and cosy.

I stayed in 30 dec. ~ 2 jan. host was really friendly and they gave me a family room so I really enjoyed using 3 beds by myself. the only thing that bothered me was the wifi. too slow in the room.. otherwise great hotel.

Excellent location. Beds were comfortable. Attentive staff. Property in general was just tired. Needs to be updated. Worst shower I’ve ever seen in a hotel. No way to shower without getting water all over the toilet, floor, etc. terrible design. That said, hotel was cheap and close to everything we needed.

The power was out and once it came back on the AC and Internet would not work which prompted several trips down to reception. The bins were emptied before dawn and the hotel is not sound proofed at all. The shower over tub makes access cumbersome for anyone with interrupted mobility.

Dirty rooms, mouldy bathrooms, pool hadn't been cleaned in a long time with milky looking water. No longer functioning hot tub had been converted into a swampy water "garden". Just no.

Well located hotel. Efficient and friendly reception staff. property is a little dated but offered good value for money for our short stay. Spacious room with balcony, good linens, pool was a nice temperature, not too warm not too cool.

Very old property, a two star at best. The location however is very good. Adequate for an overnight stay I suppose. Staff was nice.

This property is under renovation, a lot of construction noise. Leaking taps, towel rail fell off and we still got charged full price without Expedia advising of these issues. The hotel upgraded us to their credit, and were helpful. I won't book through Expedia again though.

The room was okay, but for a high quality resort, this used to be better. The pool was cloudy and uninviting. The room was outdated and old. Construction works next door made it quite uncomfortable during the day. The blinds in the room let light in while you were trying to sleep. The bar fridge did not freeze. I bought ice cream and it was melted within an hour. I bought salads and they went bad. Overall needs an upgrade in color and design.

The place is in need of an overhaul, I remember it years ago and it was nice and modern. Staff were lovely and the cleaning was great with the ageing facilities.

The air conditioner did not operated accordingly to the temperature of the switch. Basically the room was warm. Also the elevator is extremely slow and needs maintenance.

Better than it may look.
Although it has a tired appearance this motel style hotel has alot going for it in terms of location, comfort, room size,secure onsite parking and walking distance to restaurants and sight seeing. It is across the road from the Cairns Aquarium and also very conveniently located for patients attending Cairns Day Surgery on the next block. The beds were very comfortable for a good nights sleep.

It is fine. It’s an older hotel that hasn’t been updated. The room was clean, the balcony needed a pressure wash. Parking on site was good. Interactions with staff were good but not great. Bring your own body wash. If you don’t mind walking we found it easy enough to walk to most of the attractions in the cbd.

Very clean, great breakfast fab area. Only negative was the fire alarm went off at 4am and there was no direction or communication during the time. The fire brigade attended. It was through whispers from other people that we found out it was safe to return to our rooms. It is a shame that was our last as the rest of the stay was very good.
