No reason to stay
No reason to stay unless you have a confirence/meeting at the hotel. Room was very small. No lift with many stairs. The staff was not helpful.

Stay here for the WOW factor when you drive up the long driveway. Beautiful gardens, large bedrooms, large breakfast and a great university vibe. And they serve meals in the bar each evening which was a real bonus after a long drive.

Great for a one night work stop. Could perhaps do with a few more dinner options. A little worn around the edges but nothing bad, all nice and clean.

Lovely Building But We Won't Be Back
Beautiful building and lands. But, I'm afraid that's where it ended for us. When we booked there was 'restaurant' listed but when we asked about it we were sent to the bar area of the hotel which only did bar snacks - not what we were expecting at all. Luckily we found the Three Horseshoes across the road and although on the pricey side the meals were lovely. Breakfast was included in our two night package and the first day it was fine. The second morning was very poor. The coffee machine broke down and after someone tried to mend it and failed a pot of coffee was brought out which was soon emptied and taken away never to be seen again. The hot food was cold - not even mildly cold - and the times we had to ask for plates/bread/butter etc . . . We also feel we should have been told before we booked that the hotel didn't have their heating on before November as we had to sit in our rooms in our coats for warmth.

No heating despite the cold spell. We were told it was university policy not to put on central heating until November. What a silly way to determine when heating should be on. If we had known earlier we would have cancelled our stay. On this occasion I was disappointed the room was not cleaned throughly; it was superficially cleaned but there was long standing dust and dirt over the radiators and the telephone. Very poor experience which is unlike what we had experienced on previous stays

Lovely building in beautiful grounds. As it says this is not a hotel, it’s more like university student accommodation; simple but acceptable. The issue for me was cleanliness. It was quite dusty and needed vacuuming. A little more care and attention and this would be good.

Pretty Meh, but not the worst. Friendly staff.
It was ok, single room offered the basics well. TV was small and could only be viewed if you were in the bathroom. Lovely building. Little or no water pressure with a very very sensitive hot/cold dial. Pretty noisy, every time someone in a room near by goes in or out the doors bang loudly. Great staff and food and drink was good in the evening. Breakfast was basic and in the galley layout, which was novel.

Spectacular setting
The grounds are spectacular. The building is very beautiful. The rooms are very nice however the bathroom was adequate. The included buffet breakfast was a nice touch however the hot food was not even warm.

Er du ute etter et fredfullt og stille opphold i rolige flotte naturomgivelser, er dette stedet for deg. Her bor man i ekte engelsk stil med engelsk frokost. I parkanlegget kan man bevege seg helt fritt døgnet rundt. Ta med deg en pint å sett deg i hagen. Meget enkel og rask innsjekking av hyggelig personell. Det serveres ikke middag her, men det er ikke noe problem. Det er kun 10 min gange ned til Three Horses Shoes som er et prisbelønnet spisested/pub. Her er det alltid masse gjester, så husk bestille bord. Matservering frem til kl.21 og pub oppe til kl.23.

Disappointing
It would have been a good idea to tell me that it was run by Cambridge University as the room was student accommodation standard. It was as though were in a caravan. The bathroom sink was so low I had to kneel down to use it! It took 5 minutes for the hot water to come through. The Terrace Bar was not serving meals and the Three Horseshoes pub in the village not open on Mondays, so eating out was a challenge, in fact we gave it a miss! The house and grounds are amazing. The breakfast was very good.

Lovely place to stay
The hotel itself was lovely, very old building with beautiful grounds. The decor was a little tired in places but doesn’t detract from your stay. The bed could have been more comfortable but was ok. The buffet breakfast was excellent and was topped up often rather than having loads there to get cold and stale. The bar had comfortable seating for an evening drink also the terrace had lovely views (providing the weather is kind)

The property has elegance as well as efficiency in the way it is run. Suggestions are made (eg) as to how you approach your room etc. but up to the individual to make their own choices. The property is an Institution for advance learning when not providing residency for paying guests. The ambience of professionalism is apparent.

One night away
Fantastic location, couldn’t fault the room, but bathroom could probably do with a refresh. Breakfast was a let down, everything had been heated so long it was like eating rubber! Only water or apple juice to choose from and no glasses available. Have to give special praise for the receptionist who was on duty when we arrived. Very friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Overall was impressed and would visit again (but hope for a better breakfast 😏😋)
