Ship’s Knees Inn is a beautiful property run by lovely people. We truly enjoyed both patios for breakfast and nighttime fun around the fire pit; the excellent pool at the end of hot days; and the fresh and well-kept grounds (flowers everywhere.) The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is the significant drawbacks of our very tiny room: the bed was a super uncomfortable big marshmallow (we didn't sleep well during our entire visit); the walls were embarrassingly thin; and it was dark throughout the day. This room might best be used as a storage area; certainly not worth the cost. In any case we'd return to this Inn and request a better room.

We appreciate your interest in returning to request a "better room" & thanks for staying with us, but we don't think the Ship's Knees is a fit for you. All of our mattresses in every guest room are Serta Perfect Sleepers "Plush" which receive high marks from our guests, but mattress comfort is always a personal preference. Unfortunately no difference in any of our rooms as it appears you might require a much firmer mattress. The room you selected online was identified as a "Petite Queen" referencing the size of the room which also included the room dimensions in the event you were confused by the description, or possibly we just change it to "storage area" for future guests?. If you knowingly reserve a small room we don't understand why you would negatively complain about it? Outside your room windows are 2 shade trees to prevent the afternoon sun from becoming too bright & hot in the room. We're sorry you didn't like that, but is possible to open the wood blinds to allow some light into the room. As for the "embarrassingly thin walls" you are staying in an 1820 restored Sea Captain's home with walls made of horsehair & plaster, not soundproofed, as in newer hotels & if you are requiring "perfect quiet" one of the larger resorts might be able to assist you on a future visit to the area.

A relaxing spot close to beaches and good restaurants. Great breakfast bar, good healthy selections. Staff were friendly and responsive. Room was very small and dark, bed too soft for our backs but overall a pleasant stay.

This is a lovely little inn about a quarter mile from the Atlantic Ocean. They have a wonderful continental breakfast.

What a wonderful stay I had! The property is beautiful and clearly well cared-for, and a short walk from the beach. It’s nestled into a quiet part of the town which is what I was looking for. The owners are accessible, friendly, and very helpful. It was so easy to follow the instructions for contactless check-in and check-out. The breakfast spread was simple but satisfying, just what I needed. My room was small but the furniture was arranged very nicely to make the most of it. My two complaints are: first, the room often felt damp despite the AC, though that’s likely explained by the orientation of that room in particular and the weather that week; and teeny tiny bugs invited themselves in by the window two nights of my stay—again, likely due to the orientation of the room and the damp weather. Neither of these issues prevented me from thoroughly enjoying my stay. I will absolutely look to stay there again next time I come out!

Peaceful, tasteful and close to beautiful beach
With Covid-19 restrictions in place the stay was a bit different. I appreciated the extra precautions taken to provide a safe and quaint time. The place is charming and the grounds are beautiful. Beach is short walk away and is very nice. It’s peaceful and worth the trip

The location is a gift. So close to the most wonderful places on the Cape. Their property is charming and so lovingly maintained. The breakfast is fab fab fab. So inspirational that I’m even doing breakfasts for friends based on her recipes. Loved being there in a storm, love a good storm. I’m a Cape Codder. Will be coming here for years to come. Must share our secret garden with others.

The property is beautifully maintained and conveniently located. Breakfast was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Every inch of space was maximized to provide a comfortable yet cozy stay. The grounds were beautifully manicured, and the staff was attentive to our needs.

Will Definitely Stay Here Again!
The Ship's Knees is a charming old inn just a short drive from famous Nauset Beach. Our room and bath were pretty, well appointed, and extremely clean. The hosts were very gracious, and the free breakfast every morning was terrific -- eggs, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt and more. We will stay here again!

Great Getaway Spot on the Cape
Ship’s Knee Inn is a wonderful B&B that is 5 minutes walk from the beautiful Nauset Beach. The breakfast here is amazing and the rooms are artfully decorated and have all the conveniences. The rooms are smaller than a regular hotel, but the charm of the room beats most hotel rooms. The restaurant recommendations by the owners were all great and there is plenty of fun things to do in Orleans. I would recommend SKI fora couple’s getaway to the cape!

Lovely family run hotel
A small family run hotel in a very quiet neighbourhood. A wonderful welcome from our hosts (who couldn't do enough to ensure we had a good stay) and a spacious, well appointed room (we had the suite). Breakfast is amazing with home cooked food. 24/7 tea, coffee, cookie availability. 5 min walk to Nauset beach, 5 min drive to all amenities. Unfortunately the pool is not available until mid June. The only thing that wasn't so good was the weather but heigh ho!!

Cape Cod et ses hôtels est un monde à part, surtout en haute saison...Malgré un prix assez sinon très élevé, le Ship's Knee reste un Hotel 3 étoiles. Plutôt vétustes, les très petites chambres offrent peu d'insonorisation, une vague odeur d'humidité, un climatiseur très bruyant et une petite salle de bain. L'environnement, les petits déjeuners, la piscine (non chauffée) sont biens; l'accueil et le personnel excellents. Cependant, la raison principale de notre choix fut la proximité de la plage. Génial pour le prix puisque les options de 4 ou 5 étoiles près de la plage, à Cape Cod, ne sont pas à la portée de toutes les bourses!

Love the Cape
The inn was a pleasant little place, only a five minute walk from Nauset Beach. The owners made us feel very welcome and provided an excellent breakfast every day. Fire pit at night, relaxing sound of the ocean not far away, and a comfortable, homey room. We would return here any time!

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast walkable to the beach
Our room was excellent and the breakfast is always worth waiting for. Denise always serves healthy and delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere with a firepit at night you can sit at and meet fellow lodgers. Peter and Denise have give you helpful suggestions on what to see and do.

Great Place for a Getaway
Ship's Knees Inn is an excellent Bed and Breakfast place that is a 5 minute walk to the Nauset beach. The amenities are great and the breakfast is amazing. The rooms are small in size, but there is so much to do in Orleans and the Outer Cape that we were hardly in the room during the day. There is a great fireplace outside to relax in the evenings. The proximity to the beach will save you parking charges at the Beach, and the owners are very generous with beach supplies which makes the entire beach going experience super easy!

Very nice inn in a wonderful, historic building.
We had a wonderful time at the Ship's Knees Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good, and the quirkiness of the historic building is charming. The fire circle is lovely - a fine place to meet fellow guests and socialize. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there.
