It was very close to beaches. Property had many magical gardens & wood-burning hot tubs throughout the gardens that U can reserve… Absolutely magical & very friendly staff. They brought lots of bottled water to my room. The DECOR was stunning!! I took lots of photos of each of the sitting rooms. Beach/ Ocean views throughout the RETREAT… Amazing!!

Loved it!
What a cool and unique hotel concept! A beautiful, old building makes up the core of the resort, with several newer houses around it that have been converted to hotel rooms. Multiple pools, nature paths, a pickle ball court... there's something for everyone. Plus, it's a very quick walk down to the beach!

Booked a room at Camps Bay Retreat for NYE - they told me my reservation was at Bay Hotel. That is NOT what I booked, but with it being NYE there were no other options around Cape Town. Bay Hotel is an entirely different property in an entirely different location. Not only did I have to stay at this property that I did not book, they would not provide any compensation for what they admitted was THEIR MISTAKE (a "system issue"). Beware of this bait and switch tactic they are using to show photos/descriptions of the Camps Bay Retreat to sell rooms at different properties. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

A beautiful property with so much character. Staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. The property felt very safe. The food was great - my boys loved the pancakes the best!

Manor has a Old World charm. Room was clean, large and well thought out. Staff were extremely helpful when called upon. Allowed us to relax and explore Camps Bay easily with a short drive from location. Grounds are well kept and offer quiet. View of water from the grounds is great while enjoying a drink. Enjoyed the stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Perfekt boende i en fantastiskt miljö med underbar personal. En lugn oas, ett litet paradis, med kort avstånd till Kapstadens centrum. Tog ca 10 min med en Uber in till centrum. Vandrade längs stranden eller i dalen upp mot The Lions head. Restaurangens frukost och övrig mat måste upplevas - makalöst gott. Tack, återkommer gärna om vi får möjlighet att återkomma till Sydafrika.

Beautiful retreat on the hill!
This property is stellar! Beautiful views, relaxing grounds and secluded, wooded trails to relax! We had a wonderful stay. The room was comfortable as well. We loved waking up and strolling through the property before enjoying the amazing breakfast overlooking the ocean below!

When I stayed at The Camps Bay Retreat for the first time, a few years ago, I immediately realized that that I had found somewhere unique, special and breathtaking. It was unlike any other place I have stayed, and I have lived in four countries and have been fortunate enough to travel in the past. Every staff member and the especially the manager, went out of their way to fulfill every need, wish and want. I have stayed at The Camps Bay Retreat three times, and it is impossible to properly explain what is so incredibly special about it. One has to experience it. A wide expanse of ocean is one’s furthest view, and then the trees and plants and flowers and lawn that sweeps down the the gradual hill in front of the the majestic, old Manor house, and then less gradually, eventually down into a forest of naturally growing vegetation. The path down has hidden delights. The privacy and space of the land around and below the property, with tall trees and the abundant plants and flowers, are a perfect experience. The food is delicious and I ate food I had never tried before. I am very glad I did. The beds are very comfortable and each room is perfect in a different way. My love for history and the past made the main house perfect for me. There is a wonderful library and The Camps Bay Retreat, would always be my first choice, anywhere in the world, to stay and spend time.

Classical Gem on the Beach!
Absolute gem! Breathtaking location, walking distance to beach. Extremely comfortable beds, clean, quiet, very spacious and very friendly and personal service. A little odd is the inclusive breakfast, which only allows one pick off an a la carte menu. So if you have an omelette, but also want some fuits and yoghurt, you get charged extra. Dear Management, something to look into. Otherwise an absolutely wonderful stay and thank you very much for the upgrade!

We didn’t really know what to expect, but this was amazing! From the deck house you literally have a view of the ocean, little nature reserve, Lion’s Head and the Twelve Apostles! We went for a walk on the grounds, swam in the mountain pool, played with Bangers the dog, had a massage, they squeezed us in at the restaurant even if it was fully booked and breakfast was amazing!

Great stay for some time out.
The cabins across the bridge are cosy and private. Leave good out for a minute and there is a trail of ants though. Breakfast is excellent. Gorgeous tennis court that is available to be booked by guests whenever. Excellent location. Incredible views. Really helpful staff.

Excellent dinners, dreadful cooked breakfast
Lovely sedate main building housing reception,lounge,library,dining room with bedrooms in newer buildings in the grounds. There is a path through the garden taking you to the coast road but quite steep and not brilliant coming back in the dark if you are elderly or not that energetic. Dinner was excellent both nights. Breakfast buffet was good (cereals, yogurt, fruit, meat, cheese etc) but cooked (to order) breakfast was very poor. You would think the fried eggs had been cooked the night before and reheated. If you wanted a simple glass of orange juice tough because they only had weird concoctions of bottled ‘health’ drinks.

Perfect for us - we wanted to completely relax and camps bay retreat really delivered on that front. The grounds and pools are wonderful and location is fab - easy to access Clifton and the beach and out of the wind. Our room was a little dated (in the deck house) but clean, large and private. Don’t come here for modern glitz and glamour but if you like a traditional vibe and value views and open space it is hard to beat in Cape Town.

Camps Bay Retreat is a lovely and secluded boutique hotel with an amazing view overlooking the ocean with the sunsetting over it everyday. The trails, and nature throughout the property are beautiful and it was great for some peaceful exploring during our stay. The staff were pleasant, with Alfred in particular being great to connect with throughout our stay on things to do and overall tips for Cape Town, and he made us feel greatly appreciated during our stay! Food was great, and the property is beautiful.

It is a great placê to stay, specially if you are in a couple and want to stay at the place. We did a lot of sightseeing in capetown and we choose this hotel for the final part of the trip just to enjoy the place which came out as a great decision. I would add a huge plus. They have some dogs at the property that are te cutest gosta you can ever meet in a hotel. The place is awesome!

Lucky choice!
Great old British Club central building and bridge across wild ravine to “MiamiVice” new buildings. Restful green space, attentive service, great breakfasts. (So many good restaurants nearby, we did not eat dinner here.). I feel very lucky to have picked this hotel. From Table Mountain the grounds are a green spot in a very built up area. Not on beach, but overlooks ocean and avoids clutter and noise of beach drive.

Excellent and a unique hotel
Camps Bay Retreat Hotel is unique, a one off, and a little quirky. It has an English country house vibe, and yet you can hear the Atlantic waves crashing below whilst sitting in bed. The staff are amazing, not only excellent service, but genuinely nice people who really do care that you have a positive experience whilst studying at thier hotel. The gardens are beautiful with wonderful views down over the bay below. The main house has an oak panelled hall and lovely library. It's like living in an Edwardian country house, but with much better weather.

Good proximity to local restaurants
The stay at our hotel was fine for the first day. Then we were robbed of $500 USD while we were at breakfast at the hotel, by one of the staff members. Our Privacy Please sign was on the door, so no one should have entered the room. Hotel management lied about having cameras that could show who was able to access our room. Took them 2 weeks to "investigate" which really would have taken 2 minutes of reviewing the camera footage. Horrible customer service from a supposed "luxury boutique hotel." Be careful if you stay here, you can't even trust going to breakfast 100 feet from your room without someone rifling through your personal belongings and stealing all of your cash when you were on your honeymoon.

Gorgeous hotel in stunning setting
We spent the final night of our holiday at this hotel and were blown away by how gorgeous it was. We had booked it last minute and never expected to be greeted with the level of grandeur in the grounds and room that we found given the rate we paid, fantastic value. We stayed in one of the villas over the rope bridge, which was fun, and from every angle the views were stunning. There is a big crane interrupting the main view from the lawn, but that's not their fault and is easy enough to ignore. The hotel is small in terms of the number of rooms, but has the feel and facilities of a luxury resort, with tennis courts, multiple pools and great access to the beach via lovely walks through the grounds.

Fabulous Hotel!
The hotel was beyond all of my expectations & was GORGEOUS! The staff was amazing from the minute I arrived, but they should offer 2 keys to those stating in the rooms because it can be a source of contention. The doggie is lovely, as is the owner of this luxurious property which was the perfect winter setting to get away from it all & indulge in yourself! The spa services I cannot recommend highly enough! Three hours & you're in heaven:) The food in their dining room was exquisite & their singing chef - lovely! At Camps Bay Retreat, I felt like family, not a hassle and I left in love with the place & everyone that worked there! I mean EVERYONE! I'll be going back for their next winter (June 2016) for a month next time because it was incredible! Heads up tho. Winter weather can get extreme, it's cold & the pools are closed, but THAT'S the ambiance for those like me, who love that stuff! And their Internet service are limited. High speed in Camps Bay is NOT high speed in the states! But the charm of the property, the staff, the food, the room and the great atmosphere was worth every penny! Loved it! #swat4hire

This is a extraordinary hotel! Beautiful property, with views to the mountain and to the beach. The room is very confortable. Nice location for Camps Bay.
