We love General Butler but were disappointed that there was no TP in the unit (we got some from the front desk), no icemaker or even an ice tray. The last 2 bedroom we rented had an ice maker, the 2 coffee packages in the drawer were BOTH decaf. And we SO SO SO missed the Fried chicken. When we went to dinner Friday night they didn't have any but the waitress checked with the kitchen and we were told that YES Saturday night they would be making fried chicken. But we came back from Cincinnati early and NO, they were not making fried chicken. We ate dinner in an awful restaurant downtown. We had to be back in Louisville early Sunday so we had to miss lunch Sunday which surely served fried chicken.

Room was pretty clean but very musty smelling. Steps and hallways in some area could have been cleaner. Staff did not appear to be happy working there. Park itself was beautiful.

Amazing property and beautiful views! My only complaint would be we were put in a room near a group of mid 70s-late 80s group of women. We couldn’t take a step to the right without there being a complaint on us about noise. We’d been gone all day, get to the room, turn on the tv and eat (no one was talking because we were just exhausted from the day) and boom phone rings about our room being too “noisy” fortunately the young lady at the desk understood exactly what was really going on.

Old but clean
The room was old. There was no view. It was clean but needed to be updated.

Superb overnight visit--would definitely repeat
Wonderful overnight stay! Such a peaceful, beautiful park to visit--sorry we weren't staying longer. Room was so nice and clean--very big with an individual balcony. Breakfast was just incredible--a hot buffet with all the goodies plus a fruit and yogurt bar and cereal too. Real restaurant quality. The lodge main room windows overlook quite a view and are fantastic to see--looks like a chapel with wood beams. Definitely would visit again!

Vacation!
We had a fabulous time, went to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We stayed at the General Butler Resort Hotel in a cabin. It is beautiful, too bad the pool was under construction, but had things to do. Our cabin had a sunken bedroom which was weird that you had to step down into the room and felt like you were going to fall. Hopefully all the cabins are not like that. Breakfasts are included and where fabulous!!! Would love to go back!!

This was a beautiful, peaceful place. The breakfast was top notch. We stayed for a quick overnight on a road trip, but would have loved to stay longer.

When I opened the door to the house, there was a musty smell, and the shampoo and conditioner were in a container, but the container was overflowing and the dishes and knives were stained with food. The breakfast menu was good and the waiters were friendly. There was a swimming pool, but it was unfortunate that it was under construction and could not be used.

Great Value, friendly staff, excellent food
Great value. Excellent venue, the rooms need a little love but they were clean and comfortable. Highly recomend the restaurant. Savannah was my friendly server. The Hostess, Annie was fabulous, took time to converse with me. The food was absolutely amazing! Breakfast comes with the stay..the best real breakfast at any hotel!. I loved it.

When we walked in the place was empty!! I immediately thought of the hotel from "The Shining" movie. The photos and the descriptions of this place are not accurate. The pool has not worked for over a year. The internet was not working. The breakfast was frozen items from Costco in a paper bag. Many of the rooms are not in use due to a flood at some time in the past. The room we were in was in disrepair and dimly lit. The staff was apologetic and polite but had nothing to offer. Said that some of the issues were due to a lack of state funding. It's obvious this place was something special back in the day, but not today.

Enjoyable Weekend Get-Away
Friends were staying at the campgrounds, so I booked the lodge (I am SO not a camper), and spent my nights there after visiting all day. Very pleased with my stay! Affordable, clean and well-kept, comfortable, and every staff member I encountered was polite and friendly! Will definitely consider GBSRP for future get-aways!

, Beautiful property, quiet, clean with friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was in a sack which had to be taken to another room to heat, no microwave. Pool was broken (had been for over a year). We checked out after the night and received a full refund.

The pool was closed which is very disappointing as we specifically choose our lodging based on having a pool. The hot breakfast was delicious and all of the staff was very friendly. The cottage and the property are not well maintained. The roads have a lot of potholes. Our cottage key reader didn't work the majority of the time. We even had the keys kept far away from anything else and took them to be reprogrammed once they still barely worked. Most of the time it didn't even recognize you inserted a key. The cottage itself was pretty snug and the shower could be cleaned better. I understand you are "glamping" but they should spray the porch for spiders - at night there is an army of them trying to attack you while you are fighting with the key to get in. I don't think they ever mop the floors in the cabins they were very very dirty.

The room had a rustic charm and was very clean with comfortable beds. Refrigerator and tv but no microwave. Pool is damaged and not available for use. The restaurant at the lodge is also currently closed. Was told due to lack of funds for the State park there is no time frame on when they will get either opened. Plenty of short walking trails throughout the park we’re enjoyable. Breakfast is very subpar. Consists of frozen mini waffle, fruit cup, muffin, granola bar and juice. Was great for an overnight while traveling but no amenities as advertised.

Nice quiet lodge that looks to be going through some renovations. Great buffet at 2 Rivers. Down fall is the pool isn’t open but not a big deal.

The Room #202 was absolutely horrible. It was right next to the lobby and elevator. And the adjacent room’s door slammed constantly and the sound of the elevator was annoying. After over an hour of having my sleep constantly disturbed, I asked to move to another room. Though the 2nd room was mostly quieter, the room above me, I could easily hear the footsteps at midnight. Fortunately, once they stopped walking around, it was quiet enough to fall asleep. Their facility definitely needs to somehow update their soundproofing.

The facility is in less than top condition. While we were there the staff were able to satisfy some needs, but no housekeeping attention was given to our room at the lodge during our stay in mid -April. Much attention to detail needed to ready the facility for prime time. It is a lovely location.
