Characterful hotel in beautiful old town
Great hotel in a stunning town. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food in the restaurant was delicious. Highly recommend, although be warned driving through the narrow streets is a challenge!

Le lit était vraiment inconfortable. Il était impossible de se stationner près de l'hôtel.Il y avait une procession religieuse qui montait vers la place près de l'hôtel. Il a fallu se garer loin en contrebas, très dérangeant avec les valises. Le restaurant était agréable et offrait de bons plats.

Very friendly and accommodating staff in a fine little hotel, with a little restaurant with nice wines and a great grilled veal. Driving the narrow paths that lead to this peak location is no easy task but this is a lovely place to experience the upper part of this mysterious village.

Wonderful location
Comfortable hotel and friendly staff. Even though we arrived quite late we were able to have a lovely meal in their restaurant. Beautiful little town

The staff was amazing. Their personal interest in our comfort and enjoyment of stay was noteworthy. The restaurant food quality was excellent. Order their house wine, it was perfect for the homemade pasta dishes

Ein sehr schönes Hotel in Mitten der Altstadt
Das Hotel ist nicht ganz einfach zu Finden, doch die Suche hat sich gelohnt. In Mitten der malerischen Altstadt liegt das historische Gebäude in der Nähe des Hauptplatzes. Das Innere ist geschmackvoll renoviert, unser Zimmer war passend zum Haus geschmackvoll eingerichtet und erfüllte unsere Erwartungen voll und ganz. Eine Überraschung war die exzellente sizilianische Küche im zugehörigen Restaurant. Der Service war im Hotel wie auch im Restaurant freundlich und professionell. Bei einem nächsten Besuch in Castiglione di Sicilia würden wir dieses Hotel wieder wählen..

Quiet hotel in the mountains
Federico II is a very nice hotel. It's quiet and clean and the staff go out of their way to help you in every way possible. The atmoshere is very nice - I enjoyed my stay very much!

Immersi nel medioevo di Castiglione
Io ed il mio ragazzo abbiamo trascorso una notte al Federico II. Abbiamo apprezzato la dimensione della camera (una tripla), la disponibilità del personale quando abbiamo chiesto se fosse possibile una camera al piano alto e la pulizia. Inoltre non ci è stata messa alcuna fretta per il check-out permettendoci di partire alle 11.30. Vista l'ora non abbiamo preteso di far colazione anche se sarebbe stato un gesto carino chiedere se magari avessimo voluto prendere un caffè al volo. Ad ogni modo l'impressione generale è stata positiva e Castiglione di Sicilia è davvero una cittadina dai paesaggi incantevoli.

Very friendly staff and perfect location. The pillows were too thin, but apart from that will happily stay there again next time.

Good value hotel in old part of town.
We enjoyed our 2 day stay in this rather out of the way hotel but it is a fine base for exploring round Etna. Good value and excellent dinner. Unfortunately we were locked out at 10.15pm after going for an evening stroll so I would suggest that a key be provided or a staff member be on duty. We did get in eventually after attracting the attention of another guest!

Nice hotel in a beautiful location.
This is the second time that we have stayed in this hotel and we enjoyed as much as the first time. The food was delicious. In our second week we went to another part of Sicily, but could not find any food which compared with Federico II. The hotel is situated at the top of a beautiful, very peaceful medieval town perched on the top of a hill, with dramatic views of Mount Etna. We are looking forward to visiting a third time!

A nice stay in atmosphericCastiglione di Sicilia
Our GPS could not find the hotel due to Expedia forwarding the abbreviated name of the street on which the inn is located. A call to the hotel's front desk resulted in the appearance, within minutes, of a staff member in his car, ready to guide us to the hotel and help us park. We were able to converse in English with the multi-lingual family that owns the hotel, and found them to be helpful and hospitable. Our room had shutters opening on to a balcony, giving us a lovely view of a medieval street and a glimpse mountains in the background. The room was not as modern as the pictures made it seem, but it was comfortable and immaculate. The WiFi worked perfectly throughout the building, and free parking on the Piazza was a bonus. The breakfast offerings were the usual; nothing special. However, in the evening the restaurant downstairs serves delicious dinners with hearty portions, at fair prices.The house wine is a bargain.

Wir waren eine Woche in diesem Hotel und haben uns wohl gefühlt. Die Lage ist recht gut, man kann einiges Unternehmen. Ohne Auto geht nichts. Der Ort ist sehr klein und bietet nicht viel Abwechslung. Allerdings hat man einen super Blick auf den Etna.

... ma incastonato tra l'Etna, il fiume Alcantara ed una serie di cantine vinicole di tutto rispetto. La struttura è molto gradevole, ben restaurata e ben tenuta. Al ristorate interno si mangia bene e si spende il giusto. WE da riproporre. unica nota dolente: temperatura esterna fredda, impianto interno non adeguato.

Excellent hotel in a lovely mountain village
We booked for two nights but stayed for three and would have stayed for five except we wanted to sample agrotourismo. Lovely hotel with excellent staff and a great restaurant. Very good overall value. The roads up to the top of the village a very narrow but this is not a problem and the hotel is easy to find if you follow the signs.

Nettes Hotel in einem ruhigen kleinen Bergdorf
Sehr leckeres Essen im angeschlossenen Restaurant, leider kein Verkauf von Wasser und in der Nacht haben wir keines gefunden. Frühstück ist ok, Extrawünsche werden gerne erfüllt, überhaupt ist das Personal sehr hilfsbereit, eine nette Familie. Die Lage ist einfach toll, man fühlt sich wie in der Zeit zurückversetzt. Allerdings ist es auch seeeehr ruhig, nach 22 Uhr hatte keine Bar oder Restaurant mehr geöffnet.

Con el título está dicho todo. Magnífico hotel, magnífico trato y magnífica habitación (amplísima, con terraza, baño inmenso...). Está situado en el centro de un bonito pueblo. El desayuno también está muy bien. Por poner una pega, no llegaba la conexión wifi a la habitación (en la recepción, y seguramente en otras habitaciones más cercanas, sin problemas).

Kleines und schönes Hotel
Kleines und schönes Hotel, etwas abgelegen vom Strandgeschehen. Für Diejenigen, die etwas Ruhe und Entspannung in den Bergen suchen, genau das Richtige. Es gibt viele Wandermöglichkeiten, aber auch Einiges an Sehenswürdigkeiten. Besonders gut hat uns das etwas verfallene Schloß hoch oben auf dem Berg gefallen, es kostet ein wenig Mühe und Anstrengung den Berg zu erklimmen, aber die spätere Aussicht entschädigt für alles. Das zum Hotel zugehörige Restaurant ist erstklassig und auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. Wir haben dort sehr gut gegessen und sind mit "Übergewicht", aber gut erholt wieder zu Hause angekommen. Es ist auf jeden Fall von Vorteil, vorab ein Auto zu mieten, so dass man direkt vom Flughafen zum Hotel fahren kann.

Rilassante e confortevole
Grazioso confortevole e pulito, personale cortese e cordiale, questo albergo si trova in un paesino molto tranquillo e carino da visitare a soli 20 min dai Giardini Naxos. Prezzo contenuto colazione abbondante (buffet) e dispone anche di un ristorante che non abbiamo potuto provare ma sembrava davvero delizioso.

Romantisch und freundlich!
Von dem kleinen Hotel in Castiglione di Sicilia war ich begeistert. Das Personal, offenbar alles Familienmitglieder, war sehr freundlich. Der Preis war ok - vor allem dafür, dass es eine sehr kurzfristige Buchung war. Die Zimmer sind einfach, aber mit allen NOtwendigkeiten ausgestattet und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war - wie in Italien üblich - so lala. Man merkte, dass sie hart arbeiten und deswegen manchmal etwas im Stress waren. dafür war das restaurant hervorragend. Castiglione di Sicilia ist ein süßer Ort, den man über eine etwas längere und kurvenreiche Strecke bergauf mit dem Auto erreicht. Wer also einen Badeurlaub sucht, sollte vielleicht einen Ort suchen, der näher an der Küste liegt... Der Ort ist sicherlich etwas für Paare, die Romantik in einem verträumten Ort suchen. (eher aber Mann/Frau - Mann/Mann oder Frau/Frau, also Gay-Paare, werden in dem Ort sicherlich komisch angeguckt). Ich kann das Hotel mit seinem sehr guten kleinen Restaurant in jedem Fall empfehlen!

Un hôtel idéal pour des vacances en Sicile réussie
Nous sommes très satisfaits de l'hôtel Federico II où nous avons passé 3 nuits pendant notre semaine en Sicile. Situé à Castiglione de Sicilia, un charmant village perché à flanc de montagne, on a beaucoup aprécié le cadre pittoresque et la proximité des sites alentours (ascension de l'ETNA,TAORMINA: environ 30 min en voiture, gorges de l'Alcantara, ...). L'endroit est très calme et offre un beau panorama sur l'Etna des hauteurs du village. Nous avons été très bien accueillis, il n'y a rien à redire sur la propreté et le confort de la chambre. L'hôtel fait aussi restaurant; nous y avons mangé deux soirs sur trois: excellent rapport qualité-prix , nous avons très bien mangé à prix très raisonnable!

Great relaxing holiday
My daughter and I enjoyed a holiday sleeping in this wonderful medieval town in the mountains. It was very quiet, the hotel and the owners (family run) was very nice and made us feel welcome. We rented a car which is necessary if you like to go to the beach and see other places and we were around every day. Around 8pm we drove the scenic roads to "our town" in the mountains and we ate almost every night at the restaurant which served superb home made food. It was a very relaxing holiday and we will give hotel Federico our best recomondation.

Ruhige Ausgangsbasis für die Etnaregion
Schönes Hotel in renoviertem Palazzo in der Stadt. Großzügige, schöne, ruhige Zimmer. Nettes Städtchen, etwas entfernt von den Touristenhochburgen am Meer, in der Nebensaison wenig belebt. Sehr gute Ausgangsbasis für Etna-Erkundungen.

Fantastisk. Veldig koselig liten by. Flott hotell drevet av en hyggelig familie Utrolig god mat i restauranten hvor vi spiste flere ganger. Må spesielt anbefale ravioli med pistasjsaus, dette må være den beste pastaretten noensinne.

La famille qui tient cet hôtel depuis 5 ans est vraiment très gentille et serviable. Par contre pensez à louer une Mini voiture (car rues très étroites) en arrivant à Catane sinon c'est quasi impossible de se déplacer! Ou alors si vous pouvez garer vous en bas du village c'est encore mieux! Les repas servis à l'hôtel sont très bons , le petit déjeuner est assez bon également. L'hôtel se trouve à environ 1h15 de l'aéroport en voiture, à 1h45 de Syracuse, et à 40 mins de Taormina.

Good quality perfectly situated little hotel
We stayed three nights and ate breakfast and an evening meal. We found the hotel suited our needs - the room was spacious with a small balcony looking out over the rooftops of Castiglione which is a very beautiful little town. The family running the hotel are attentive and hardworking. Food and wine were really good. Everything was good quality and there was easy parking in a very central position. You can walk out from the hotel into the best parts of town in moments. It is a very quiet place with twelve churches - all of which were closed when we were there sadly as they are well worth seeing. But there is still plenty to delight here. Castiglione is a bit run down and needs a few improvements - the community seem to be divided in their attitudes to tourism. It is a good place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle of Taormina - we ended up not going at all as we liked it so much in Castiglione and Francavilla and then we moved on around Etna and explored the rest of eastern Sicily.

Mountain hide away
Located in the "middle of nowhere" with very nice landscape and not far from Mount Etna. If you just want to spend time at the beach, book something closer to Taormina. Very clean rooms, nice stuff. Breakfast is avarage.
