What a delight! This is the quintessential "mom and pop" bed and breakfast that Vermont is famous for and in a beautiful and serene setting. Mike is an absolute gem of a human being and makes a killer breakfast with the most perfect over easy eggs and french toast I think I've ever had. The room was clean, peaceful and comfortable and I'll definitely be coming back!

The property and grounds were beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable and the couple who runs it were friendly without being intrusive. Excellent breakfast. If you are gong to Killington or Woodstock and want to avoid the ski lodge atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

A respite in December
Mike and Barb are excellent hosts and aim to please. Bailey (the doggie) was adorable and friendly. The place is very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

Very cute and cozy home in a scenic area. Mike makes an awesome breakfast! There is a very steep set of stairs up to the rooms , so pack light. Small shared bathroom but works for one night. The room was clean, bed super comfortable and WiFi worked great. There is a beautiful waterfall right down the road. I’d stay again if visiting Vermont area! Thanks Mike and Barbara.

Let me start with the positives: Breakfast was good and Mike was engaging. Property is secluded, if that's what you are looking for. Property is decently priced. This property is close to the Appalachian Trail, so I assume it's a popular stay for hikers. Negatives: Bathroom must be shared with others, which is more like a hostel, than a retreat in my opinion. It was fine during our stay because we were couples traveling together, but still not ideal. Had to drag heavy suitcase upstairs up a narrow stairwell. A two man operation. We had to surrender ours shoes as soon as we entered the property, and did not see them until the next morning. We could not take our shoes to our room upstairs. There was no air conditioning, which is probably fine for 99 percent of the year, but we brought record heat with us, so it was a bit hard to get to sleep with only a fan. Our room was extremely small, small TV, not much room to open a large suitcase. See pics. We had a number of black ants in our room and bed overnight, luckily they did not bite. View out our bedroom window was a wooded hillside.

A mountain cabin retreat with very friendly hosts and daily breakfast. Rooms fit your luggage, clothes and your (big) bed. Appalachian trail is close; local towns have plenty to eat. If you need a break from the concrete metro areas, seek no further.

My Advance on the Retreat
Barbara and Mike present a unique and beautiful bed and breakfast nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains. My room overlooked a magnificent view and the accommodations were excellent. Mike is an outstanding conversationalist with a wide range of life experiences which added immensely to my overnight stay. If I am ever in the region again, I would surely visit the Mountain Valley Retreat.

A Little Disappointing.
We were disappointed with this B&B. Mainly because we like to have our own private bathroom. All the rooms in this B&B share a bathroom. Fortunately, we were the only ones there so we had the bathroom to ourselves. But if you like you own bathroom, this is not for you. Stairs to the second floor are extremely narrow. Breakfast was excellent. Location is quite remote. We would not stay there again.

Excellent place to stay.
I always enjoy staying there. I have stayed there 3 times. It is quite close to Killington.The owners are very friendly. The rooms are quiet. They provide a full fresh cooked breakfast.

Mike and his wife is so nice. This is the best place I have ever visited in Killington. The room is clean and very close to the resort. The breakfast is so nice which I have already missed. Highly recommend to stay in this lovely hotel. Hope I could visit here again.

What a pleasant surprise to find this property available when I was in town. Mike and Barbara go over and beyond to make it feel like a stay and "your family's place". I was in town for work, but there are a number of things to do in the valley. The only downside is sharing a bathroom, but definitely not a showstopper. I look forward to returning in the near future.

What a beautiful location and wonderful hosts. The house is nestled in the valley, not too far from the highway but far enough that it is quiet and secluded. Breakfast was delicious, generous and served with lots of care. Had a nice chat with Mike over breakfast. Such easy access to the Appalachian trail - only 10-15 walk. Goldfinch sighting in the front yard. We had a wonderful stay!

Best b&b ever with the most amazing hosts!
One of the nicest places I’ve stayed at in a long time, probably ever, this property is beautifully remote surrounded by trees and mountains and pure nature, the faint sounds of birds in the morning and the absolutely stunning night sky are enough to impress but it only gets better. The house sits on the base of a small mountain overlooking the valley the mountains create, the views from both rooms are amazing and the house itself is beautifully built and exceptionally clean. Our hosts Mike and Barb are the absolute sweetest, most accommodating, and open minded people I’ve ever met, both of them are a joy to talk to and be around late at night or early in the morning when Mikes making breakfast. Breakfast is set to your preference and the eating nook overlooks the valley and hills soaked in Vermont sun, the food itself was deliciously made and beautifully served with coffee or tea and freshly squeezed orange juice (seriously freshly squeezed) alongside faint music and a nice conversation. It’s hard to not keep listing good things but every aspect of this b&b is perfect. I don’t think any other hotel or stay you have will compare to the mountain valley retreat, I genuinely recommend anyone who loves Vermont (the most beautiful state), nature, pure beauty, and the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, to stay here at least a night maybe more, I think you’ll need Mike’s breakfast more than once.
