Hidden Fees
Good stay however, when we booked the room, we were not notified that there would be additional fees upon arrival for having a pet. We picked a pet friendly hotel for that reason and thought we were set when we paid online .

I waited to write a review about the poor condition at TownPlace Suites by Marriott Charlotte Arrowood because I wanted to make I sure I accurately described what I observed. I’ve stayed at numerous hotels (including other Marriotts) around the world but TownPlace is probably the worst hotel I’ve ever booked. Clearly the photos of the hotel on the website were not accurate. The hotel parking lot and landscaping was not well maintained. The condition of the rooms were even worst. There was chipped paint on the walls and doors. The floors in the bathroom and kitchen were dirty. The towels were worn and discolored. The carpet was stained an the room did not smell fresh. We booked the two bedroom suite so my family and I basically had to disinfect the room before getting settled. The beds and sleep sofa were average at best. I’m shocked Marriott would own a property that’s rundown.

Don’t go for the cheapest rate
This was the cheapest price. I won’t let that be the deciding factor ever again! …..either the maintenance guy or the cleaning ladies came in my room and stole my jewelry. I told the front desk but there was nothing they could do. The parking lot is a hangout spot for the construction workers.

The room I was assigned was clean and was nothing like the previous reviews before my stay, I also liked the distance to the Walmart.

I chose the property for the size of the room and the pool. The room was great for my family with the separate bedrooms. The pool was closed. I was also disappointed with the exterior of the building to the rooms. Not secure. There was at some time a lock on the exterior door that needed a key card upon entering, but that was not functioning and anyone could enter the building. That made us feel a bit unsafe. My fiancé was with us, but if I was staying there alone with my kids I would have asked for a refund and found a different location. Especially with the people that I assume were residents there, hanging outdoors and openly smoking marijuana. The morning that we checked out, there were 5 police cars outside and a man getting arrested. I will not recommend this property for anyone with a family of small children.

I liked that the property was out of the city a bit but that’s where what I liked ends. The property completely smells like weed, you can hear literally every single footstep and every noise echoes so sleep is almost impossible especially with guests up at every hour. There’s numerous parking lots adjacent to this property and there’s constant noise in them. The doors to get in are supposed to be key card entry only but they’re always open so it doesn’t exactly feel that safe. Explains why the place is so cheap.

All of the work, none of the relaxation
If, while on vacation, you enjoy hours on hold with Marriott customer service, purchasing cleaning supplies, cleaning your own suite, hauling trash, daily trips to the front desk to ask for towels, toilet tissue and trash bags, stepping over dog excrement stains on the carpet (keep your shoes on!), walking by piles of trash bags in the hall and navigating random hazards in your suite (think tripping hazards and broken glass), this is the hotel for you. Don't worry. You'll have time for these activities because the pool is closed. According to the man who checked us in, they have no intention of opening it this year. Also, there is no free wifi. (Why yes, this is 2021!) You'll have to go across the street to Starbucks to get your work done.

The entire building smelled of marijuana. People were just standing outside drinking alcohol, yelling loudly on their phones at all hours. It was like it has become a meeting place or apartment complex instead of a hotel. Shower was covered with hair. Front desk people were kind and friendly but we’ve stayed here a couple different times with last couple years ago and they have let it become run down and letting people just do what they want and it feels very unsafe. We have small children and my wife was very upset and didn’t feel comfortable leaving room until time to leave.

The service was very good and the agreement with Fitness Club was very cool, however, the smell of weed (marijuana) was super intense 3/4 days we stayed there (inside de B building). We literally had to sleep with the air condition working in order to generate an airflow so the smell doesn’t get into the room.
