Little big town
The lodge was very nice, deco friendly. The room was nice. The restaraunt was we equipped to handle a large group. Plenty of options to find something to do. A lot of history in this area. Well worth the visit.

Nice place. The only problem is you can get the one in hand and then you have a good day of work so I will have it on your computer when I can come over to my office to see you and I have to work tomorrow and then I can run to the church tomorrow to see you and then I can come over to you get a couple things I can.

It was a beautiful view of Illinois river. The Lodge was beautiful, room comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. Very close to Grafton area bars and restaurants. My on complaint, most hotels have small refrigerators and a microwave. We were there a couple of days and had leftovers from dinner one night. Couldn't warm them up later?

Clarification upon check in
We stayed a few months ago and fell in love with the restaurant and extra large hot tub. We booked a room to enjoy them both again but both were closed. We spent an hour round trip to get food over it and sat in room watching some rerun because the hot tub was down. Very disappointed

Beautiful lodge and guest rooms! Pool looked great too. Fun location that’s close to Grafton and Alton. Many relaxing hiking trails.

Great escape
Great get away. Covid restrictions caused some minor inconveniences. The dining room and hot tub were closed. We were able to take food into the lodge great room.

Historic Lodge at everyday price.
Like being at one of the Great Lodges in the West, but right here in the midwest. Loved staying in one of the cabins built by the CCC.

Peaceful Cabin
We had some noisy kids running in the hallway right after we checked in and the desk clerk graciously provided us with another room which we really enjoyed… One of the cabins. So grateful, it really made our trip wonderful – can’t wait to come back!

Nice rooms and nice restaurant. Lovely place to take a walk or hang out in lobby. Nice pool.

The room Size we received was less than 1/2 of the picture portrayed as the one we chose. And did not have the furniture depicted that we wanted. When we asked about it they said because we booked through a third party, that was what we got, they save their nicer and bigger rooms for those who book directly from them.

Dear Anonymous We only have 2 rooms that we consider upgrades, but on a daily basis they are an additional $10.00 per night. All of our rooms are rustic. When you book through a Third party they are not as familiar with our property, therefore when they book you a QQ, any of our QQ applies. If in the future you use a Third party, maybe a call to the property would better guide you in what you have your heart set on. Sorry for the miscommunication. If you are in the area, please stop by and we would be happy to show you all our room types, in order to get the room you are wanting.

This was the perfect retreat for relaxation. The Lodge is a beautiful warm and cozy place. We enjoyed the warmth and welcoming fireplace, the games in the main lobby, the pool, and the beautiful river view from our room! The breakfast was delicious! We took a challenging and scenic hike after breakfast, then enjoyed the new Grafton skyway tram to the Local winery. It was such a quaint and wonderful stay!

This property is beautifully set in a State Park. Lots of outdoor activities to keep you busy for days. The lodge was fantastic as well. Checkers, chess, connect four, cards, and lots more games to keep you busy. The pool and hot tub were very clean and lots of fun. The restaurant has A-MAZING fried chicken. Seriously, don't we at anything else. The winery is wonderful as well. We took a few bottles home after doing a full tasting of their offerings. The woman who served us the wine was knowledgeable, polite, and lots of fun. Overall, what a great retreat. Pro tip: bring snacks as there are no convenience stores close by. Also bring good hiking shoes.

Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. The inner lobby is a fun place to people-watch and play board games inside what looks like The Great Hall of some castle. I would suggest hooks on the inside of the bathroom door.

Repeated I was in Rm. 216 and wanted a 6:30 morning wake-up. Never got it. Late start impacted drive back to Chicago. Only ripple in the 2 day stay.

We arrived at about 9:30pm the restaurant closed at 10p it was a hour drive back for food do I canceled I still haven’t received my money back they said they would refund me one night bc it was a no show but I did show I have documentation to prove it

Thank you for your comment. You booked with Hotels.com, therefore your refund comes from them. We adjusted on our end. Plus our Restaurant closes at 9:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and Sunday thru Thursday at 8:00 PM.

Nice rooms, staff is very friendly. Nice peaceful area. Needs a bit of updating but overall still very good. Clean!! Bed was comfortable! We are planning on returning soon.
