Terrible stay
The venue was beautiful and the room was large and nicely decorated ,but on further inspection found that the room hadnt been cleaned ,several years worth of mould and cobwebs behind furniture ,the shower looked slimy with black mould on the grout .Bed felt damp .no WI-FI no information pack ,no phone number for owner .very basic .Had to go and find the owner in the dark to investigate an altercation in the room above .Owner didnt seem very concerned or helpful .We left at midnight and drove home as the weekend had been ruined .

It ticked the boxes!
It is a very interesting enterprise with the owner adapting to circumstances and demand. We thought it was a bit pricey but realised that as it was the only accommodation near the near the footpath they capitalised on it. The room was pretty and comfortable but toilet was dirty,a piece of plastic left by shower and only two teabags! Very pleasant,friendly and informative hosts.

Three nights in October
Fiona is a wonderful host. She was very welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel grounds are just gorgeous with breathtaking views and there are some lovely beaches very local. Breaky was a treat each morning. Even our dog got a sausage cut up and fed to him each morning too! He’ll miss this attention!! Thank you

Fantastic host and family
A lovely lovely host and family the property needs a bit of updating but they are so short staffed it was hard for them to offer the bar and restaurant and the outside seating had no cushions on but they made us feel so welcome and were so friendly and so hard working and offered to cook evening meals and open the bar if required. They work 7 days a week with no rest and we even saw the owner up at 10 pm one night doing the laundry. I do hope they get the rest they deserve in the winter months when they close

a short break away.
The interior of the hotel is a little tired however our bedroom (room 1) was very clean and the bedding and towelling soft and spotless. The bed itself was also comfortable. The ensuite had been recently updated and was to a good standard. There was a friendly welcome by staff for our breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location, friendly hosts, dog friendly
Stayed for 4 nights recently. Fiona & her team offered a very warm & friendly reception in a beautiful part of Cornwall we’d never visited before. Our dog friendly accommodation was amazing, private entrance, 4 poster for the adults & an adjoining upstairs, beautifully oak beamed attic room for our 8 yr old daughter, large with 3 single beds - great for a family of 5 plus the Dorma windows made for easy star gazing. Breakfast was lovely, fresh & local full English with good continental selection. Daughter loved the waffles & Fiona reserved a waffle just for her every morning. Our dachshund also spoilt with a sausage every morning for breakfast! The hotel grounds were also beautiful. There’s a lovely garden & large pond, with nesting mallards there at the moment. Within the grounds, there’s a great play area for kids, surrounded by nature & very secure. The Liscawn is a great central base, stunning surroundings & within 25 mins of attractions like Mount Edgecumbe, Looe, Polperro & Cawsand. The Barbican can be reached by foot ferry from Mount Edgecumbe. There’s a small beach close by, easy access. Tregantle’s large sandy Beach is a mile away, beautiful & uncrowded - down the cliff but you could get a pushchair down. A huge plus point was how dog friendly the area is, numerous restaurants & shops all welcoming pooches, our dachshund was spoilt more than the humans!

Beautiful old house in a lovely wooded valley, with a wonderful view. Very warm, welcoming and helpful staff. Sadly, the restaurant we've enjoyed on previous visits was under renovation so we had to dine elsewhere, but the hotel provided helpful and valuable alternate recommendations.

Great service
We picked this hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby. Fiona and Anna made us feel very welcome, and made our son feel especially welcome which was great as he is an only child. Service was above and beyond, especially as they are short staffed given the circumstances around Covid. Lovely views too.

Lovely location
Overall we enjoyed our stay at The Liscawn. Beautifully location, friendly welcome, lovely breakfast. Should be noted that the owner appears to be experiencing some staffing issues and the establishment is bring run more like a Guesthouse than a Hotel. This did not impact our stay too much, but might affect others looking for are more inclusive experience.

Rooms need updating
Hotel is advertised as a 4 star, we were very disappointed as it’s definitely not 4 star. Although very clean the room was very dated and the bathroom door didn’t close properly. Not a lot of choice on the food menu. Hotel staff were very friendly. Lovely location.

Dog loving hotel
Room was a bit dark - nice welcome but what was disappointing was 2 incidents at breakfast - the waitress cleared a previous occupied table and poured the milk from the jug into the communal milk jug on the bufffet table - even without COVID would not expect this to happen. The 2nd incident was that a guests dog was in the restaurant at breakfast and the owner brought out some sausages on a plate for the dog which was fed them by the proprietor and the dog also licked the plate. I like dogs but I did not feel that these actions were acceptable.

On arrival down a very unfriendly drive steep and full pot holes and stones parked up on slope went into check in and found a grumpy manager who took our temp and that’s were COVID precautions stop apart from a gel machine too and bottom stairs no masks worn by any staff Room run down dirty stained carpet mould in bathroom headboard dirty just felt unclean Asked for bottle water or jug for room got told there’s a tap in basin! eve meal was the worse curry I have ever eaten just tons of veg mostly peas in a basic curry sauce all sloppy did not resemble veg in a creamy cocunut curry sent back hardly touched no comment from waitress if there was a problem or if everything was ok went bed to a machine noise humming all night outside window either a generator or freezer either way it’s all you can hear , again at breakfast there is help yourself to bread to make toast no tongs and in plastic bread bags still everyone touching and juice tea coffee on station everyone touching again no masks worn or sanitizers in room breakfast very greasy , found our bikes had been parked across by car even though manger said to park there as only flat bit ground when asked if they could get car moved as it was hurdle to get out car park with out trying to get round car was told women who lives in house hates customers parking there and was grumpy so no they wouldn’t ask her !!!! This must be the most unhelpful unfriendly hotel we have ever stayed in and was relived When we left

Hotel is in a picturesque location and breakfast was nice. However our arrival was met with a very uncaring gentleman who really didn't seem to care whether we were booked into the hotel or not. The room was OK but the beds were hard and uncomfortable and our bathroom was not very clean - overall disappointing and I wouldn't stay here again.

It's situated in a very rural and peaceful location, but within an easy drive to the ferry service to Plymouth

Really enjoyed our stay very obliging however bedroom and hotel needs some money spent a little run down here and there bed uncomfortable needs a new mattress and pillows very lumpy but apart from that enjoyed our stay.

Liked the friendly helpful reception and serving staff, the room decor (double room main building), the many efforts made to make the hotel welcoming to all kinds of people. At a price of £114 for one night I was very disappointed with the poor range/quality of breakfast food , cold dining room, limited range of cheap quality wines for dinner (6 white/red) and coolness of the dining room (ate wearing my down jacket) and the annexed family room.

Die Lage ist für SWCP-Wanderer prinzipiell nicht schlecht, nur sollte am Coast Path ein Hinweis-Schild zum Little Fox Hotel stehen. Alle anderen Beurteilungs-Kriterien für das Hotel mit einem Preis von 130 £ pro Nacht sind äußerst negativ - ein herunter gekommener " Schuppen" mit Wartesaal-Atmosphäre! Eine herbe Enttäuschung, verglichen mit allen anderen privaten B&Bs zum halben Preis. D.h. wirklich nicht zu empfehlen!

The staff were amazing there had been a mix up with the booking via Expedia and the quad room was not available No problem the team gave complimentary drinks whilst they sorted an additional room at no extra charge The food here is exceptional location is also beautiful only regret is. That we only stayed the one night will definitely return

Hotel was in general good condition and staff were friendly but seems to lack the finer details. Mugs and glasses had marks on and not all the breakfast cutlery was on the table. Access to out room was around the side of the kitchens past used oil containers and wifi access in the room was poor.

Nice hotel lovely food didn't get the room I was expecting as myself and my husband are in our late 70s and an outside room in a loft was not to our liking but the manager did his best to make it right with us .

Over night stay before travelling further South
The owner was exceptional the food was of the best standard the accomodation was comfortable but we would have preferred a room where my wife did mot climb the stairs being disabled.

Good hotel, needs modernisation
It's a nice place to stay bedrooms and bathrooms are very dated and need modernisation. The restaurant bar and breakfast are all good. The staff are very nice and helpful.
