A real gastro pub with accommodation
The B&B is well located and the food is superb. Due to its location and the demand for the rooms, it is a bit pricey but I guess is all down to supply/demand factors rather than any other thing. Anyway, I would stay there again if I could.

Great pub with accommodation
Lovely find, just a short way out of Falmouth. If you stay here then we’d recommend eating here as well. Food choices in the town are limited but don’t worry the food in the pub is excellent.

Note parking is off-premises, but there are public car park(s) within walking distance with free overnight parking. The staff kindly gave up their own car park place for me when I turned up as a late (indeed, last minute) arrival. Excellent service throughout. Enjoyed the food, too.

This pub/guesthouse was the highlight of our trip to southern England. What a charming place! The rooms are super nice and renovated with a wonderful view of Falmouth Bay (some rooms - request this). The owners are wonderful people and the restaurant is very popular and delicious. This is the perfect place to stay to visit your child who attends Exeter University/Falmouth University Penryn campus, which is why we were there. A quick bus ride or walk into Falmouth town.

Brilliant bathroom with great rainfall showerhead. Walk to station to go to Falmouth. Easy drive to Lands End and all beaches in between. Brilliant food.

I enjoyed the stay and liked the room which was stylish and comfortable. Bike storage was ok but needed my own locks. Staff were kind and helpful.

Marvellous venue, parking a skight issue.
The Thirsty Scholar was a lovely place. Restaurant, pub and hotel all in one. Breakfast excellent with a great arrangement of local beers. The only snag, and it will increase during the summer is the parking. There is no on site parking, it is free but there are very few spaces around the site. There is a large pay carpark, but it is a walk from the hotel. Overall though 9.9 out of10.

Weekend overnighter
Quaint and comfortable with very old but stylishly decorated room and en-suite. Warm welcome and well looked after. Good food. Would fully recommend. (Ps. Tip - call them to help re parking before you get there!)

Great value
No on-site parking. Car park down a very steep hill which is not great if you have a disability. The staff were warm , welcoming and friendly The room was clean with great on suite facilities. Although parking was an issue, I would certainly stay again

Very pleasant B&B
The staff were most helpful and the facilities good, except for the shower, which did not function properly. Parking nearby almost impossible, but free car park not far away by shortcut.

Good location
Nice place and kind staff. Very noisy room as it is under a pub bar and so was difficult to relax and sleep. But, we did know it was a pub so shouldn’t be surprised. We had room directly over bar which made it noisier. Shower bit of a dribble and hot/cold but room comfortable and breakfast was lovely and included.

All pretty good apart from: 1) The room was directly above the very noisy bar 2) The bathroom was mouldy and had a disgusting, very well-used (and not cleaned) toilet brush which I left in the waste bin when I departed.

Nice pub B&B with friendly hosts
The pub is very nice with friendly staff, we felt very well looked after. The food was also very good. Penryn itself hasn't got much to offer, but the Thirsty Scholar is definitely a little gem of a pub. Our room was ok, but could have provided a better overall experience with a more comfortable bed (a bit too soft for our liking), a mirror in the room (from a female perspective getting ready in the morning), soap by washbasin (in addition to small travel-size shower gel) and a shower with an even temperature (it was either hot or cold). However, overall we enjoyed our stay and it was near places we wanted to visit. Parking was nearby at the free town car park, a few minutes walk away from the pub.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed
We enjoyed our week in Penryn, it was our base for visits further afield in Cornwall. The room was basic but bed was very comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful (especially Jessie). I would have liked the shower to have a safety handrail as I worry about slipping as my mobility isn't what it used to be.

Very noisy during the night, with vehicles passing by at high speed. Our room is in the front of the hotel, which is just next to the road.

Friendly pub, nice people
Friendly pub, nice people. Room was a bit small and missing a table you could put a laptop on. Breakfast at weekend is not served until 9am. The team at the pub tried to accommodate my need to leave by 8.30 am with a continental breakfast, left out for me overnight - but to be honest wasn't the best, as tea and coffee had to be made separately in room upstairs.

Nice hotel, close to University
Good experience. Met all requirements. Visited University and the Hotel was within walking distance. Lovely food, Italian food on the menu. Very helpful staff.

No parking near the hotel. Nearest was a public car park about 400 yards away and walking up a hill with luggage. Hotel did say should have dropped bags off first. Staff very helpful and food was good.

Fabulous Pub accomodation in Penryn.
Great Pub accomodation, good food (try the Crab Shack Pasty, fabulous!), mighty breakfast, wonderful hosts, and Arthur the dog is really sweet! We'll be back!
