This is a great little B&B. It's not fancy, but the rooms are comfortable and reasonably clean. Our room had a swamp cooler instead of A/C and it worked some of the time. It was fine because the area is so safe and remote that you can leave your windows open all night...or even all day, no problem. The atmosphere is very conducive to relaxing and enjoying nature.
The privacy and access to hiking trails can't be beat. The property backs up to Canyon of the Ancients National Monument so hiking trails from the property take you into parts of the Monument most people don't get to see. They have Ancestral Pluebloan (Anasazi) ruins on the property that are in various stages of excavation/restoration. There is a restored kiva you are able to descend into. Across the arroyo, there is a small cliff dwelling. The owners are happy to share their knowledge of Native American history and culture. In fact they have programs most evenings on different topics, including natural history, Native American culture and tradition, and more.
They serve a full hot breakfast buffet style. It was very good. (Eggs, whole grain pancakes, French toast, bacon, cold cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt) The home made granola is excellent and available for purchase should you decide to bring some home or take out on the trail.
