Hello, Jermy, we had painters painting the rooms on the opposite end of the hotel. We apologize for the inconvenience. We had around 20 rooms rented out at that day. Most of the guests checked out by 9:30 am because the water was shut off between 11:05 am till 11:15 am to fix a pipe urgently. We apologize again for any inconvenience that caused. We are now done with all the renovations. Our guests are extremely happy to stay in newly painted rooms. We are very sorry. It was one time event during the renovation. We thank you for coming. Matthew, sorry for your concern. I can assure you we do not use bloody or any spotty bedding. The painters were rushing to finish last 5 rooms. They covered the bed setup rooms with their clear plastics. The spot you saw it might have been from the headboard stain. All the rooms were painted and all the Furnitures were stained. I am sorry for the inconvenience. We could have switched you from that room had you informed us. We are definitely changing the towels. The towels we ordered were for the contractors. We do have some fluffy towels in our linen storage. But we are aware of this issue and will address soon. We apologize for it.

By the way, the Expedia has our cut off time 11 pm the latest. Our website also has the notice that we do close the front desk at 11 pm. We important thing to keep in mind is to please be aware of the shortages of the employees especially the late hour employees. Majority of our guests arrive by 9 pm the latest. We have not totally given up on those guests who check in late hours. We make a special arrangement to have them come late to self-check in with special instructions. Hello, Thanh, I am glad you had good time staying at the hotel. The hotel is in the middles of the wilderness. We advise our guests to keep the doors close especially the back door where the freshwater creek is. By the way we have pest control once a week as well as the City of Cumberland Gap has its own pest control. As far as Tv cable issue. We are only phone call away. Our maintenance person can fix this problem in matter of seconds. The tv signal mess up when someone ends up punching numbers on the remote control accidently. We appreciate you. Please come again.

However, there are three restaurants known as 1919, coffee house and Angelos. Plus, a bar that is known as Caboose. Couple of Antique shops. We are access to the hiking and wilderness. We attract, large number of LMU students and their parents because we are only 5 minutes away from LMU. We stay so busy that we have to turn down at least 20 guest a week. Our price is the best you might notices. I am sorry you might have been in a room that is ready for the renovations on the floorings. If anything, you see please contact us immediately, we could offer you the renovated room. Our managers are on duty from 9am till 11 pm on weekdays and mid night on weekends. Hello, Mr. Stewart, thanks for your kind review. The uniqueness is the historic hotel of the Cumberland Gap build once in 1874, had a fire and gutted. The original location was in the middle of the parking lot. They had parking for the horses. Current hotel was built in 1987.All Furnitures and chandeliers are antique. But we are now slowing replacing them. The area where the Danial Boon settled down. There has been a civil war in the park but at the Virgina part of the National Park. Cumberland Gap Inn is located in the National Park. There was an asteroid crashed in the new town of Middlesboro many years ago. One of the chunks of the asteroid fell in the site of the Cumberland Gap, that created a shallow ground. We see many foreign visitors come each year to explore. The Cumberland Gap inn is also known as a hotel of the Ghost. People come to stay in room 107 and 213 where they felt the ghost presence. Film crew from UK came to stay with us for filming the area for their documentary film. Bears are sited once in a while. Deers are very common to hang around the Cumberland Gap area. They also gather behind the hotel's wooded area. Hote is surrounded by old trees and Mountains. There are walking trails, tri-state border line marked for people to go up on the mountain to explore it. The guest can see the mountain view from their front windows. Pinnacle mountain is accessible for public to go up by car and view three states, Virgina, TN and KY. That people find it amazing to watch.

Bruce, the older was built in 1997. We completely renovated recently. there are few bathrooms need to be renovated with new tiles. Fortunately, we are so busy we cannot get to the renovation. We are hoping for this winter we will complete the renovation. We managed to complete the new roofing, guttering, and painting done outside the hotel. We installed all new hardwood flooring this year. The old Furnitures, lamps and chandeliers are all antique. Some may have to go but we may refurbish them otherwise the value of this hotel uniqueness will not be there.

We had weak internet signal due to couple of storms where the corporate office is located somewhere in the Midwest.Yes agree the towels were not the brand towels. We had to buy from the local Walmart to cover the shortages. New delivery of the bigger towel due to arrive on Monday. We do compete with Holiday Inn and Sleep inn therefore we have to keep the same standard. You probably know that our prices are much lower than the area hotels. The unique location and being in the middle of the Cumberland Gap Park, is an added benefit we we stay extremely busy. Many people end up reserving the rooms a year prior to arrival.
