Phil and Helen took great care to make the breakfasts fit our needs with lots of choices. Great welcoming and conversation. We enjoyed our two nights. Comfy bed and though the shower knobs took a bit to sort out we enjoyed the shower after long days of touring and walking. Myriad thanks!

Fantastic

Pobyt w Hermiston Guest House był wielką przyjemnością. Nasz pokój był bardzo ładny z widokiem na ogród, co zapewniało nam ciszę i komfort w nocy. Łóżko super wygodne. Właściciel jest fotografem, co dodaje uroku całemu domowi, pełnego pięknych zdjęć, które można też kupić. Na wprost naszego łóżka wisiał piękny obraz-fotografia jeziora Buttermere, za którym tęsknimy. Doceniamy ciasteczka i herbatę w pokoju. Śniadania i pogawędki z gospodarzem, który ma cudowne poczucie humoru były niezwykle miłym akcentem każdego dnia. Mamy nadzieję, że uda nam się wrócić.

Best Guest House in Keswick

Stayed in this fabulous guest house with my husband and father. Everything about it was beautiful! The house is well planned and stocked. The owners, Phil and Helen, are very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was plentiful with good choices. Phil planned out a scenic tour in our car that was excellent for us. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes and small villages. I got some amazing photos! We highly recommend and would like to stay there again.

This was our first time staying in a b&b and it was so marvellous. A lovely atmosphere, superb room, lovely hosts and in an idyllic place. Perfect in all ways.

We had a great experience staying at Hermiston Guest House. Phil and Helen are excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The bed in the room “Whinlatter” is huge and comfy, and the bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was cooked to order and tasty. Couldn’t ask for more.

We will be back

Excellent information prior to our trip, a warm welcome on arrival with tea and short bread (every day!), lovely room, great breakfasts. Phil and Helen are great hosts. The location is excellent including 3 pubs / restaurants in the village for dinner, good access to the mountains, Keswick etc. Overall an excellent stay - we will certainly use Hermiston Guest House again - well done Phil and Helen!.

Cracking guest house fab location and hosts

Awesome from the start Met at the door with a coffee and a warm welcome from Phil, Discussed the best ways and tricks of the local area such as parking/places to visit. Breakfast was very tasty full English for me and porridge for the wife both of which were home cooked and fab lots of other choices with a-cracking view of lat rigg. Rooms were comfortable with everything you need including towels and hot drinks in your room. On return form day out infest was given by phil on the day and further advice /maps were given for the following days adventures nothing was too much for the hosts, this was our first one on a guest house the rest have a lot to live up to now. Will be booking a weekend away again

First class B and B. Phil and Helen very welcoming, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the Lake District. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Delicious breakfast every morning and welcome cup of tea and shortbread when we arrived and returned after our days activity. Perfect in every way. 10 out of 10 well done.

Lovely hosts, nice room and great breakfast

Very enjoyable stay, this is a well-run B&B with lovely hosts who are both friendly and helpful. Even before we arrived, we had received helpful directions to find them and some recommendations for local places to eat out, enabling us to book them in advance. On arrival, we were offered tea and coffee with delicious home made shortbread in the lounge, very welcome after a long drive. Our room had fantastic mountain views and was warm and comfortable, with a good ensuite shower. Breakfasts were delicious and well-cooked. Phil was brilliant in helping us get the most from our visit, directing us to the best local sights, both on foot and driving. They are based close to some truly spectacular scenery. I celebrated my birthday during our visit and was very touched to find a bottle had been left in our room that day to mark the occasion. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the Keswick area then I would definitely recommend Hermiston Guest House

Everything was first-class, we would happily stay here again and would certainly recommend Hermiston guest house to anyone going to Keswick. Food was excellent, bedroom and lounge were spotless, beds were very comfortable. Would be difficult to beat!

Absolutely wonderful stay here. We stayed 2 nights. Had a great first floor room with great views of the mountains. Felt very welcome despite covid limitations. Loved the small touches like the coffee and biscuits in the lounge. Excellent breakfast. Plenty choice. Would highly recommend.

Phil and Helen were incredibly helpful and hospitable during our stay this weekend! Going what felt like above and beyond for us and other guests. The rooms were cleaned daily, and were lovely for what we needed. The breakfast was fantastic, hot and plentiful. Each time we arrived back to the guest house, we were offered tea and coffee which was lovely! Having not stopped in a guest house before, I was apprehensive as to what I was expecting. But again, Phil and Helen completely exceeded my expectations. I could not find a single fault with our stay! Thank you for a lovely weekend! We will definitely be back!

Best weekend break ever

Fantastic stay, one of the best we have ever had, The owners go above and beyond, for example you could be out all day and when you return they offer to make you tea or coffee and give you home made short bread or cake etc. Although you have this facility in your room. You then get to sit in the living room and they ask about your day and give you loads of tips and advise. Would defiantly recommend and if you are a photographer lover you will be in heaven

First class stay with the personal touch

We arrived on July 10th as returning guests for a five night stay and were greeted like long lost friends. Phil and Helen are consummate hosts, who do their utmost to make your stay as worthwhile as possible. The room is clean and well equipped with an en suite shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Fresh milk is available if needed. Helen cooks an excellent cooked breakfast, the ingredients are all locally sourced and the food is delicious. Phil knows the Lake District very well and is happy to offer his local expertise and insight to maximise your visit, whether in terms of hikes, car parking or local knowledge. The guesthouse is only a five minute drive to Keswick with plenty of eateries to choose from. We chose The Sizzling Stone where you cook your own steak - delicious! Phil and Helen even bought us a bottle of Bucks Fizz for our wedding anniversary. We would definitely return for a third time.

The Hermiston is a real gem with wonderful views towards Skiddaw. Immaculately kept and a superb breakfast. Phil and Helen could not have made us anymore welcome. Their local knowledge helped us to make the best of our short visit, which I am sure will be the first of many! Following their suggestions we had very good meals at the Royal Oak and also the Middle Ruddings Inn, both within half a mile of the guest house.

Nothing could of been better

Phil and Helen were welcoming and really made us feel at home, nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was outstanding, with multiple choices offered, ranging from full english to scrambled eggs on an english muffin. Excellent recomendations on what to do during the day, helping to make the most of the limited time we were able to spend in the lake district. The room was a great size with a modern ensuite with an excellent shower. Hoping to return within the next couple of years.

The owners were warm and friendly, gave very helpful advice about the area. But the most unique thing are the owner's fantastic landscape photographs hanging on the walls, with beautiful views of the area's highlights. The breakfast was great, the hosts accommodating and the rooms clean and comfortable. Oh, also a great library. Wifi basically only available in the common area, but on vacation that worked for us just fine. Available when needed, but not invading our lives all the time.

Thank you. Glad you like the photos. Sorry the wifi was a bit unstable in the back bedrooms because of our thick walls. It is fine in the in all our other rooms and is due to be hard wired so it will be strong and reliable in all rooms shortly.

Lakeland gem

Hermiston house was easy to find of the a66. We were welcomed and shown to our room. Our room was clean comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was more than adequate and the cooked breakfast was well cooked. My mouth is watering thinking about the scrambled egg. It is close to several pubs for evening meal. We were able to walk into Keswick and there is good bus service if walking a problem. We were given good advice about walks and road routes. It was our wedding anniversary and they left a bottle of fizz for us. This was an amazing few days and I would recommend staying at Hermiston house.

Had a lovely time and would definitely recommend staying here. Phil also suggested good places to visit nearby which helped us enjoy ourselves.

It was an amazing experience in Keswick. Hermiston house was absolutely terrific! Phil and Helen were warm and informative hosts. The rooms were immaculate and breakfast made to order and delicious. we can't say enough about the experience. Phil gave us all the pointer for sightseeing and we enjoyed our stay very much! Hope to be back in the future! Thanks Phil.
