I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay. It appears that everyone is different. One person's idea of "rundown" is another person's idea of beautiful historic authenticity. Unfortunately some people find the compromises required to stay in a repurposed historic building difficult to accept. Every room at Vacy Hall is individually decorated, so in the case of the room you stayed in there are 3 different room pictures provided and they are accurately protrayed but all are different. The room you stayed in did not have wallpaper ??? No other guests have reported problems with mice, but we have commenced our pest control proceedures on your say so. Your bathroom decription is an exaggeration and while the shower is dated it is not a kit. When you book your accommodation through an online travel agent you are inflating operating expenses by 15-30 per cent and we are unable to absorb this cost. We pass these costs on to people who book that way. We pass on the savings to people who book direct. Hi Anonymous, It makes it very hard for me to know details about your stay when you don't use your name. Like everything else is life, when you book a smaller and cheaper room, you should expect a smaller and less extravagant experience. It is not reasonable to book a cheaper room and expect that it will be as grand as our Large Suites. Dear Anonymous, Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your second stay. We are disappointed you did not let us know of your concerns earlier. I had left a message for you on departure to personally apologize for not providing you with extra toilet paper but you chose to not call me back. Your room was fully serviced on the Saturday We were relieved, pardon the pun, to discover your note on the empty toilet roll, that you had brought your own toilet paper and there was really no problem. If you had called me on the Easter Public Holiday to let me know of the issue i would've directed you to our supply. I regret we are unable to always have the office open especially on public holidays, but the phone is attended to 24 hours a day. We are ONLY able to help you if we know there is an issue at the time. The fridge in that room has recently been replaced. Best wishes

If it was a problem for you we would also have happily changed the room if one was available when you checked in. We believe quirky is more memorable and hopefully a reflection of how much we care about Vacy Hall and our guest's experience. Our smaller rooms are cheaper than a motel stay and our larger rooms are more expensive. The room you booked was originally built for use by household staff so it is not as grand as the larger rooms. During the week when they are available they cost only $25 more than you paid.. I can understand the need to comment on the size on the size of the room but because the heritage-listed building has been adapted from it's original use, there's little we can do except embrace the history and authenticity of this magical place which is widely regarded as one of Australia's great historic hotels. We have dozens of extra pillows for guests. If the ones on the bed are not to your liking you just need to ask. We would have happily tried to find pillows to your liking.
