Great Place!
Self check-in was very convenient. Received text and email with room code and was able to go directly to room on arrival. Room was clean and very comfortable. Beautiful common area/kitchen to hang out in. Water views and sunset were amazing.

The Troll Cottage was an amazing place to stay for family. It was a detached room so it gives more privacy. The rustic vibe of the place surrounded by trees will give an added feel of peace and relaxation. Special thanks to Eric! he was very helpful with instructions for check in and very attentive to our requests. He even set up a bonfire for us to enjoy the cold fall weather fall at night at the backyard. It’s worth the 4.5 hours drive from the Chicagoland area. This place is highly recommended and very near the Washington Ferry Island ferry station in case folks would want to visit the Washington Island for a day trip. warm thanks again Eric for the superb accommodation!

Unique Inn
My husband and I had a nice time staying at the Harbor Light Inn. It was a unique experience. There is no front desk, so you check in with an access code. If you do not receive an email from them 24 hours prior to your trip, make sure to call the Inn so they can sort this out. When you make the reservation, you get a room name, so when you get there you drive around the building and find the parking spot with your room name and then the room is also written on the door to your room and you enter your access code and you are in! We arrived when it was dark out so it was great to have these instructions, hope this helps future guests!

The futon couch was broken. The grounds keeper is a wonderful guy and wants to accommodate but he is only one person that services the whole complex. The Troll Cottage we stayed is charming but parts are falling apart. The stairs going to 2nd floor is STEEP so watch out! Only 1 bathroom on 1st floor. Small but functional kitchen...the toaster was broken and then the little coffee pot broke the next day. Loved the outside porches and private backyard with fire pit. That was real nice and the big trees added to the charm along with surrounding buildings. The grounds keeper is a delight, friendly...but it is ez to see he is only one person and could use a hand with these units which are many...Overall we enjoyed our time here and we love being on the tip of Door County since we had the time to travel during the day...all day long.

Eric, the caretaker, started a fire each night for us to sit by! Very nice. Also immediately responded to broken lamp in our room and fixed it. No hangers on the lovely rack in hall, nor enough shelves or towel bars in bathroom. Bed was most comfortable. Front door screen was torn and door unable to close fully. Thankfully no mosquitoes in Sept! The caretaker did a great job! Owner needs to fix the place up- paint, doors, sulfur smell whenever hot water was used. Room was very clean! Nice little table area for snacks and coffee. Sat on porch in the sun both late afternoons. There is a great room for common use which we didn’t use, but was fully stocked! Worth the drive at the end of the road in Gills Rock.

It was a lovely stay in the quiet area of Door County. Nice location near the lake and ferry to Washington Island. Comfortable, roomy space. However, know that there are no amenities in Gils Rock except for a little store that closes at five.

Check in email was never received, causing delays
We never received the email containing the code for our contactless check in, so we weren't able to have a smooth check in because we had to call hotels.com and also the property.

Perfect for our Mother-Daughter Getaway
Harbor Light Inn was the perfect place for our mother-daughter getaway. The grounds were private; the location was quiet and beautiful with a view of the bay; the rooms were clean and comfortable (although just a hint musty--barely noticeable); and the response time for additional needs was within minutes. Most impressive was the community room which had a very nice, well-stocked full kitchen, dining area with a large table, and a couch and chairs. We shared most of our meals and visiting here. On the last night of our stay, we enjoyed some time around the fire pit. We would stay again...and we would recommend Harbor Light Inn.

Really, really nice!
The room with step-out balcony looking at the bay was wonderful! We had a kitchenette, table and chairs, 4-cup coffee maker and frig. They supplied a second luggage rack and plenty of towels, etc. The keyless entry was nice. No worries about losing our keys. The location is nice, too. Not far from a lot of haps in Sister Bay and not far from the ferries out to the islands.
We were on the second floor just to the left of the big tree in the middle. The First Mate's Quarters.

Great quiet, clean stay. It was worth the drive and a good value. Private keypad entrance, balcony, and view of the bay we're great. It felt more like a home than a typical hotel. We didn't use the shared lobby area, but loved the community fire pit option right out front. We would stay here again! Close to the Washington island ferry if you plan to go that way.

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The view of the sunset was incredible. The small balcony was a great place to hang out in the morning. The bed was quite comfortable. The fire pit was a good place to meet people. We didn't see any staff, which would have been nice, but the communication was prompt and clear. Would stay here again!

It’s a very nice property. We stayed in the light house(nautical) It is like a small apartment. Very clean, stocked with all the necessities. The light house is by the road, but it was quiet with no road noise. The grounds are nice, as you can walk around freely. We had a fire in the fire pit at night. Definitely recommend this property!

Great location…. But sadly the complex is in illrepair. My wife got a number of bug bites , likely bed bugs !! She is dealing with itchy skin irritation a week later. We should be fully reimbursed for this sad situation.

very enjoyable
Pleasant, unique place with a private feel away from the busier parts of Door County. Room was large and furnishings comfortable. Our only complaint was that the bed was extremely soft. Nice to have access to the common room/kitchen.

Very quaint and quiet stay. We stayed in the moonraker suite. The contactless check in was very convenient, but we never saw the inn keeper or any other staff the entire stay, which felt a bit odd. The bed was very comfortable and the suite had just enough items to make the room work. Could use some updates. The community room was fantastic and very up to date. Would recommend this place if you’re wanting to get away from the main tourist communities in Door County. Gills Rock is cute, but doesn’t offer much, so plan ahead in regards to that.

Things started off a little rocky because I am not very techy and it was a pain to figure out the check in process such as where our room was and what not. I thought the code was the room number. The room is nice but damp and the ac in the window was blowing right in my face all night. The shower was beautiful but there as pooling water. It was easy to get towels. It has pros and cons but all in all I did love the bed, it was very comfortable.

The unit was clean and well kept. I didn't use the on-premises facilities so can't comment on that. The only complaint would be that the wifi was slow, unreliable and kept cutting in and out.
