Thanks for your review. In the interests of fairness we feel we need to respond and put some context and facts into this too.You are correct, your room was late to be readied. On the day of your check-in (our busiest day of the season) we had a number of last-minute staff illnesses and our laundry delivery (from 2.5 hours away) cancelled their delivery. Rather than cancel your booking (which was an option but not one we wanted) we did contact you in the morning (around 8.00am) of check-in to let you know that there were some issues but we would work around them, which we did. We (managers) and our remaining staff put in around 12-16 hours each on that day to ensure that your holiday continued. Whilst this was not ideal for you, or us, I would have hoped that reasonable people would have been able to see and understand the extraordinary situation and appreciate that those still working were 'busting a gut' for you and your holiday.With regards to the free BBQ use we offered you on check-in to mitigate for the late check-in you in no way stated that you definitely wanted the bbq the next day and it should be brought down to your Studio and made ready. You said you might want it but would let us know. On the day in question I phoned you and left a message asking if you wanted it. I had no reply and there was no contact from you either by phone, text, email until around 7.00pm later that night. As you were offsite for the day we kept the office open for an extra 45minutes (6.45) for you but eventually had to shut the office so we could go offsite to complete more laundry (for the next day) at the local commercial launderette. At around 7.15pm (on a restricted number) you called me and left a message demanding where the BBQ was and why were we closed? Within 20 minutes of receiving that message we cut short the laundry we were doing and returned to the complex where I set up your BBQ for you. Given your lack of clarity in the matter we, again, worked hard to solve this issue that you had not been clear about.You are entirely entitled to have your own opinion on your stay and your version of how you remembered things and we are sorry you felt that the stay was only 'okay.' We have taken measures to have more back-up laundry (at our own expense) and have also advertised and appointed more back-up housekeeping staff. However, I remain disappointed that your position and comments are ones that I believe most reasonable people would say lacks empathy in a situation not of our making and could be regarded as somewhat entitled.

Thanks for the mostly positive review. The issue with the key arose because your arrived quite some time after the allotted check-in period (and the office had closed) without informing us that you would be late and despite our considerable efforts to phone both of you and also message you on the expedia channel we could not get hold of you. We kept the office open later than usual for you, but we had no contact from you and eventually had to close the office. The credit card given to us also declined when charged (as standard) so we believed that the booking was not genuine. Unfortunately we cannot man our check-in 24 hours a day.

Hi Richard, we are bitterly disappointed to read your review and would be grateful if you could let us know when you stayed here. We always try and assist guests when checking in, and if a studio was available with less steps we would have accommodated you in one of those. We would definitely have offered to help with your suitcases as so would any of our staff. We do not advertise air conditioning or any dining options within walking distance.
