This is lovely old building, and has so much potential. But our stay was disappointing, in a number of ways.
We were given a massive room, which was lovely and (more importantly) clean. Having said that the underside of the bath mat was filthy, the towels were washed but had imbedded make-up stains from previous visitors, and when we opened the wardrobe- well, there were sheets flung inside it and two spare pillows (one of which was covered in stains and wasn't the sort of thing you would keep at home, never mind in a B&B).
Breakfast was disappointing. We arrived down in the dining room, to find a couple of almost empty bags of bread sitting out, no butter for the toast (had to ask for that), salt/pepper shakers that weren't working and a bag of bananas (still in the shop plastic). Basic things, but so very vital. The cooked breakfast was cold- probably because it was on stone cold plates, and different parts of it were cooked at different times (so, lukewarm sausages, and cold fried eggs).
Just not a great experience- but so much potential for a lovely old character building. Spoke to the manager, who was very nice and promised to address the issues; but so many basic things that just need to be dealt with.
