Due to the current situation there was an effective non contact check in service. This was through a side door where we were given access via a personal code. The problem was, we had brought our 5.5 month old daughter with us who we had to pack a lot of things for and there was no lift, just a lot of stairs, so we had to cart all of her pram up 2 flights of stairs which was not practical! I’m not sure how a person in a wheelchair would have managed either, but there was no staff around to ask. The room was a good size and clean and the shower was very good, however the mattress was very hard (but this could be personal choice) as I don’t like my mattress to be too firm. It was also freezing in the night when we got in from our evening meal. There was no way of turning up the heating manually in the room and was presumably controlled centrally so we both had to wear extra layers to bed as we were shivering! Again, not ideal when we had a young baby with us. This could have been due to the situation if the heating hasn’t been on in the building for some time, but being freezing cold in a hotel room you’re paying good money for wasn’t great. The breakfast and service the next morning was very good! All in all, have stayed at Hotel Forty One a few times now and willing to cut them some slack due to the current covid situation, but I would strongly urge you to think about better access to the building and also make it warmer for your customers!

Promising start but poor communication.
Nice hotel & a lovely breakfast on the first morning. Day 2 was the start of the new lockdown so no breakfast was given, despite being paid for & no other options offered. Let the hotel down, communication was very poor! Another point, no car park despite website mentioning a free car park.

Rooms very quirky -all different-have stayed here before. Quiet location so good sleep. Room facilities all good -clean bright bathroom with some toiletries. Good hospitality tray in room. Breakfast excellent-generous portions with quality ingredients.Staff lovely

Its done out and decorated to a very high standard, staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is very good,we've stayed there before and will definitely stay there again!

Great boutique style hotel, room was well furnished and spacious. Excellent choice for breakfast, freshly made with good local ingredients. Fantastic value for money.

So much promise! We stayed here a year ago and it was much better. On arrival we were told we couldn’t eat in the restaurant because they stopped serving at 2115 and they were full (our room cost £150 a night and they were expecting us). The room was clean and spacious, but there’s no really anywhere comfy to sit. And we had a wet room, but the shower just filled the room with water. So if anyone needed to loo after showering there was water all around it. It was cold in the room too - radiators didn’t get hot - we told staff but nothing was done. Breakfast was ordered on day 1 - we needed to ask for a steak knife to cut through the bagel and the poached egg was hard boiled. The next morning we actually went to the Wetherspoons across the road for breakfast. Such a shame - the hotel was much better a year ago and still has huge potential

Cool hotel in a convenient location
Interesting, well presented hotel with an individual character. Very nice room although not much of a view. Friendly, helpful staff. The bar was even playing decent music instead of the usual pop guff found in most hotels!

Disappointed
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times but this time was not a good experience. The room was very cold and the heating was not on, the TV didn’t work, the mirror was missing from the bathroom and there was a massive cobweb that was several days old above the kettle. The food as always was very good.

lack of attention to detail
Slightly quirky. Amazing room until you try to use the technology....no instructions...and the sophisticated shower and suffer the pooling of water around the toilet. The lift broke down. Without mobile phones we may well still be stuck in the lift - none of the emergency procedures/equipment worked.

Good service and good food. Checking in is a bit unusual as the check-in desk is also the bar for the restaurant but once you're over that hurdle everything is pretty smooth and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Only downside is no air-conditioning and only having vertically-opening windows that will only open a tiny bit. Not likely to be a problem normally but with this endless heatwave things can get a bit sticky. It's right on the main street in Driffield and surrounded by other pubs, so can get a bit noisy outside at night. Sky TV, a bluetooth speaker alarm clock and a really nicely kitted out and spacious bathroom are all nice extras to give a nice touch of extra comfort to the rooms though. The WiFi is also actually usable - though probably not fast enough to rely on for something like Netflix, I got a result of 5 Mb/s down when I ran a speed test.
