Ive finally given up with this company, and the owners Katie and Alex Clarke!
Absolutely AWFUL experience with this establishment.
Rye is lovely. The hotel is nice; Good, but not great. Smart refurb and good design generally though. But customer service is diabolical.
Totally understaffed. NO-ONE answers the phone AT ALL. Tried for days and day throughout the day and all you ever get is an answerphone message.
So couldnt reserve tables for dinner. Room service was non-existent, they just didnt answer any phones at all - within the hotel or from without it!
Just checked my phone records... as of today 78 unanswered calls to the George in Rye. Not a single one answered.
And then saw that our CC company had put through the agreed daily rate 3 times. So was charged 3 times for a stay that consisted of 2 rooms for 1 night!
Tried to get a refund... just NO LUCK whatsoever.
Perhaps the George just likes to overcharge any customer who asks questions.
Or perhaps its just racist and doesnt like people who are not white-middle-class!
Dont know.
Just hope I get a refund of 1 nights stay that is correctly due to me!
