Great place to stay. We had plenty of space in our room, and didn't get to use the kitchen area but could prepare a meal very easily! Only complaints are limited parking (otherwise have to park on the street and the area is a bit dodgy), and nothing for load-shedding when it happens. We were completely in the dark. Not even a torch.

Hi Erin, thank you for taking the time and your positive review of The Patio Suite at Bartholomew's Loft. Parking can be a little crazy over K-Day week-end, the cars are bigger than usual. We have a camera on the street that is monitored 24/7 by our local security company especially for times when parking on the street is unavoidable.We have just purchased a large generator which unfortunately the electricians weren't able to install in time for K-day. But I double checked and there was a Magento rechargeable light on the bedside table. I will remind staff to point it out on check-in for future guests.

Pleasant stay
The staff at Bartholomew's Loft were extremely friendly and helpful. Due to protests in Makhanda, we were unable to return home so we had to extend our stay and the owner was so generous and offered us a discounted price. The room is also large, has a heater and many other facilities that make the stay pleasant.

Hervorragendes Loft, gemütlich und geräumig, kleiner Pool, aber trotzdem super. Die Altstadt kann man gut zu Fuß erreichen, Supermarkt in der Nähe. Wir konnten aus 4 Zimmern wählen, die Empfangsdame war super nett obwohl Heiligabend war und wir erst recht spät angekommen sind. Sie hat sich trotzdem jede Menge Zeit für uns genommen. Jederzeit wieder wenn wir in der Gegend sind.

It was really an amazing place. Was just there for one night on Business but I have found my home away from home when I am in Grahamstown.

Historical self-catering stay
Excellent venue. Beautiful wooden floors in an historical building. Safe, quiet,clean and very spacious. Nice kitchen amenities for self-catering. Not far from town but perhaps a bit far for a walk.

Pretty pics trick you when booking online!!
Upon arrival at 2pm no bedlinen because it was wet apparently due to rain the previous day. When linen eventually arrived it was still wet. Bathroom door didn't close properly as it was skew. Struggled to get the outside door locked as it was also skew. Staff was friendly, especially Siphiwe but need to be trained properly. Had to ask for teaspoons, napkins and butter at breakfast. The food was however good. Our room was right adjacent to the street with workmen plastering and hammering right outside our window every day. No curtains only broken blinds and shutters when closed, left us in a dark room. At least it was clean.

Wonderful Place to Stay!!
Bartholomew's loft and bedrooms were cozy, clean and bright. The weather was a bit chilly but our accommodations were perfect for our stay. The Loft is walking distance to center city and a reasonable drive to other local treasures such as Kenton-on-Sea, Port Alfred and Port Elizabeth so it's a great home base. Staff went out of their way to assist us and our stay was wonderful! This Canadian family enjoyed their 21 day stay immensely and will definitely return.
