I stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and the experience was fine - but it is under new ownership now. I made a made this reservation last minute, since my arrival in Edinburgh changed and I needed a room for one night. Only a triple room available but I was desperate so I took it, even though it was expensive. (single traveler) I arrived from the airport around noon and did not know what to do. There was a contact number on the hotels.com website to get a check-in code, but the number is out of service. So I was stuck outside on the street with my luggage in the cold. The place is being refurbished, and when a worker came out, he let me go inside the hall - he offered to call the owner who said I had to wait until 3. Okay, so I sat on the stairs waiting - what could I do? Along comes the housekeeping woman, who also offered to call the owner - who again said no that I had to wait to get an email at 2. (it arrived at 2:15) I had a painful torn shoulder, my arm in a sling - well, it is not a good memory. (and I am pretty easy going) The room is nice and clean and comfortable, the housekeeping lady was so nice - but the owner's attitude was shocking. It is an okay place to stay if your flight arrives in Edinburgh after 3pm but heaven forbid if your flight is earlier in the day. There are so many other hotels in Edinburgh that are cheaper, have a bathroom ensuite and kind and helpful staff who are there to make sure your stay is a good one. I would never stay in this hotel again
