I booked this as a special treat for my daughter’s birthday. On arriving in our room there were water marks all over the wall and areas that it had clearly been patched up but not decorated properly. There were also stains on the sheets. Our room was freezing so I was going to call reception but discovered no phone in the room so had to get dressed (was in my pyjamas) and go down to reception to ask for help. The lady on reception was very helpful and came up to help sort out the heating.
The next morning I wanted to use the hairdryer. However, I soon discovered that was broken. I called reception using my mobile phone and they said they would send up a replacement. After waiting for nearly half an hour I gave up and went out with wet hair. Finally, on the last morning we flushed the toilet and water just get pouring into the toilet and it then wouldn’t flush. We were checking out anyway so I told the lady at reception and she was very apologetic and offered us a small discount. However, for the cost of around £300 for two nights I felt that the discount wasn’t very much. I would definitely think twice before booking another Mercury hotel.
