Stayed only for one night but had really good time. Room was clean and warm. Fridge was stocked with soft drinks and there is some snacks which is really nice touch. Close to everything that leith has to offer as well as centre. Would stay again.

Very friendly and helpful host. He gave us a rundown of the city and even let us keep our car there the next day as we explored Edinburg. We appreciated having access to the kitchen and the complimentary coffee, water and snacks. Would stay there again.

Great place to stay in Edinburgh
Pillars House was a great stay in Edinburgh. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the accommodations themselves were clean and spacious. We would certainly stay here again on another visit.

Noisy building in a quiet location.
I had a friendly welcome, great that I could check in at noon and I was given a room at the back of the hotel on the first (top) floor. Fair sized family room with a double and single bed, attic style window with roller blind, basic key operated safe and fridge stocked with complimentary juices, water and milk were the key features. Food offerings included flavoured croissants and mini packs of biscuits. Small old fashioned en suite with toiletries and ample towels. The beds were too short for someone 6ft or taller, lots of creaking floorboards and paper thin walls. I was unlucky with inconsiderate neighbours, who didn't stop talking or have the tv at a reasonable volume until they went to sleep. Even then I could hear snoring/ sighing through the thin walls. Ear plugs are essential, I would advise. The hotel is situated in a quiet area of Leith and there is a tram stop close by.

Hi ChristopherI am very sorry you didnt have a good stay with us here at Pillars House unfortunatly all our beds are made to uk standard size we would have to have them specialy made and matresses and bedding the same.I believe we could get ones made to order but it wouldnt be counter productive to us It is the same as the matresses some maresses are to hard for someone and to soft with others so we have to find a happy medium Unfortunatly this is an old victorian building and can be noisy in certain parts and have looked at how to resolve this .I would recomend the premior inn premior rooms I do belive they have longer beds as we are just a small guest house All in thank you for the review we do like to see if we can improve on certain issuesKind Regards

Everything was perfect!
We visited Edinburgh in October and we had the best time ever! The rooms were very clean and cute, it is very easy to get to all the spots you would want to visit during your stay, and also the owners are extremely kind and also willing to give you good recommandations regarding sight seeing spots and restaurants. We are definitely planning to visit Edinburg another time and we would never even consider to sleep at another place. Absolutely lovely!!

Comfortable and convenient
It was a really nice stay in the property. Comfortable and clean throughout, specially the room was really warm, so we did not struggle with cold. The en-suite bathroom and shower facilities up to the mark. Edna went extra mile to let us checked in earlier as we were tired from long journey. They also kept our luggage on request after we checked out, for few hours, so that we could wander freely around the town before our train departure. Last but not the least, excellent communication with the centre, tram is just in front of the house, so convenient, easy connection with airport and railway station. Halal food nearby. Just one thing, I would try to avoid booking downstairs room if possible, as it can be noisy specifically at night time due to upstairs wooden floors. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.

Some rooms including mine are overlooking Constitution Street where the tram now runs. This can be noisy first thing in the morning and late evening (including people leaving several pubs ), especially if you like the window open for fresh air. On the other hand the tram stop is a couple of minutes away so ideal access to the city 👍.

Hi RogerThank you for your review, its a blessing and a curse to have such convenient location on the tram lines on one hand the access to the city is super easy on the other the trams do pass our building, they are however in my opinion quieter than the buses trucks and cars that used to come down the street before the trams.

Lovely B&B
Great location few minutes by tram to the centre. Shops near by. Many restaurants and pubs too. Not far from the ocean terminal too. Room was nice and warm. Beds clean and comfy. Huge kitchen downstairs available. Friendly staff. Would use it again if I would return to Edinburgh.

I stayed at Pillars House for 3 nights with my family and we really enjoyed the place. Everything was perfect, Edna and Craig are two perfect hosts and made us feel so comfortable. Upon our arrival, Edna gave us much information about what to see, and the best places for having meals and drinking. I cannot complain about anything, cause the property is cozy and perfectly clean, outside the lively center but totally and easily accessible by public transport. It's within walking distance from the tram stop. Thank you so much for everything and sure see you soon :)

Friendly clean convient
Friendly clean and convenient. Trams 3 min away and parking. Kitchen available although cooker was not functional at the time should be available. Good choice for seeing Edinburgh.

A perfect cosy stay!
Such a lovely cosy little home away from home. The room was perfect - snacks and a selection of tea and drinks which was a lovely touch. We were given such a warm welcome and offered lots of tips and recommendations. The room wasn't booked for the following day so we were very kindly offered a late check out which i really appreciated.

This was hands down our best stay in our whole trip all over Europe! The place is amazing, a quaint and beautiful building, super walkable location and lots of thing to do around, clean and comfortable and has everything you may need to have an amazing stay. I have to say, as amazing as the place is, what really makes it shine is the people. Craig welcomed us like we were old family friends, sat down with us to give us all the best tips for food places, tourist attractions, hidden spots, transportation tips and everything we could need. Edna was the loveliest lady ever, super friendly and approachable. I will definitely stay there again the next time I’m in Edinburgh!

We (my mum, my son and I) just came back from Edinburgh. We had a lovely stay at Pillars House. Really relaxed, homely atmosphere. Kind and helpful hosts. There are really good transport links to the city centre and the Leith port. It's not a far walking distance either.

Overall good although overpriced hotel. Our room smelled old and humid. The hotel is located on tram line so make sure you you dont book it when you are a light sleeper. Staff is nice and friendly with welcoming family atmosphere. Plenty of grocery shops around along with restaurants.

Lovely property and great owner. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. They even provide breakfast bars and cookies for guests.getting to the airport is super easy - a single tram ride that takes you right through the city centre and is steps from pillars house. Walking distance to lots of great restaurants and the port in Leith. Chop House was delicious!

Craig, the manager was great. Upon arrival he showed us where to eat and how to get around the city. The rooms were stocked wity snacks and drinks and were very clean. Very nice little smoking area out back too. Highly recommend

The hotel is basic but comfortable. The room was small and you could hear the other guests (talking and snoring lol). Quiet during the night from outside. Perfect transport links with the tramline right in front of the hotel.

Pros: Location was good with easy access into the town centre from the nearby tram. Great host, really friendly. Cons: The accommodation is very dated and in my opinion overpriced. I appreciate prices are probably inflated this time of year but I didn't think it was value for money.

I recommend it! The host was super! Great location! Tram is up front and you can gome and go in the city and to the airport vith the tram. Breakfast included. Towels were changed during our stay.

Great value and excellent hosts!
Must admit, when we first arrived we weren't sure what to expect. The surrounding area isn't the nicest. On entry, we were greeted by a really nice man who honestly couldn't do enough for us. He offered us advice for our trip and talked us through everything. The room had been fully sanitised and felt really clean. The fridge was stocked with Irn Bru, juice cartons and bottled water (which was so handy as we were off to the golf). There was a little bottle of sanitiser and toiletries for us to use. There was a bit of noise with the trams early in the morning, but for a great all round, good value stay, you can't beat this place. Really good location for getting into the centre of Edinburgh and the 10 minute walk to the harbour.

Hi AdamThank you so much for the review! we are glad you enjoyed your stay, I can assure you despite the occasional drunk the area is very pleasant and a highly sought after area of Edinburgh to live in with house prices being ridiculously high compared to other parts of Edinburgh. Nice guy....quiet and friendly......steals towels.....brings in extra person overnight without telling staff and avoids extra occupancy charges, by health and safety standards and by law we need to know who is on the premises and number of guests......we are reasonable priced for Edinburgh....... bad customer wouldn't recommend, always the bad guests that leave bad reviews.
