Rustic Lodge with a lot of charm and warmth
This place is a rustic gem. It's on the "old highway," and as such it is 10-15 min from the nearest restaurant or gas station. Terry is a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was great and the decor was a fun "hunting lodge meets folk art." Loved it. Do know that the better choice to get a variety of meals is in nearby Grangeville rather that the "other direction" of Whitebird. Terry told us as much. We exited the lodge and went to visit White Bird, just a stone's throw off the road. So cute. And the woman who works the desk at the post office was SUPER helpful. We were mailing stuff home to make room in the trunk of our roadster, and she helped us weigh things and get good rates. She even shared a video clip she'd shot of a horse-parade portion of a big trailride down mainstreet just a few days prior. We hung out and chatted with the owner of the grocery store and a very cute gift shop. (Hence the need to mail stuff. :) )

Thank you so much for the recommendation for our unique BNB. If you could email me privately the resturant you ate at. Terri

Wonderfully personable bed and breakfast at high point of old 'highway' over White Bird Summit. The owners 'retired' from jobs in Milwaukee to create a comfortable and gracious extended home, including their horses, pot-bellied pigs, goats, and myriad hummingbirds on feeders just outside the kitchen window. Breakfast is delicious, the bed super restful and cozy, and the conversation intriguing. Happy I found this respite on my way to Nez Perce country and the Clearwater National Forest.

Where is it???
Wayyy off the beaten path, this place was very unusual. It is an old lodge filled with taxidermied animals. Since we are anti-kill, we were appalled and saddened and would have gone elsewhere had we known. The rooms were downstairs. No TV in room - had to join others upstairs if wanted. Outside our back sliding door was a pen of pigs and another of goats. Could be fun for some but definitely not our bag. Lodge is run by one hard working lady and considering that, she put together a nice breakfast and kept the rooms clean.

I am so sorry that you did not realize that we have a huge display of taxidermy work from all over the world. If you would have gone to my website it shows a better discription of what our Bed and Breakfast is all about. Expdia does not explain well enough what we offer. Again i am so sorry I never want my guests to feel offended. I must say you were very gracious considering you were uncomfortable with the surroundings. Please note the pigs - are pets - they are pot bellied pigs not just pigs in a pig pen. We have the animals for our guests to enjoy. Please next time tell your host you are uncomfortable - most all BNB want to make their guests as comfortable as possible. I would like to thank you for being gracious with me and staying at my little part of the world

Enjoyed the Wild Bill room. Location was spectacular. Terri treated us like family and prepared a great breakfast. Next time, we will book at least two nights to explore the grounds and enjoy the peace and quiet. Only recommendation would be for hand railing on steps down to guest rooms and smoke detector was missing.

No longer had a pool. Good for families but not safe for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Inn keepers are wonderful people.

Gwen Thank you for your stay with us. i am sorry that you thought we still had the pool. We turned the pool room into a game room - which I believe gets allot more use. I am trying to get Google to take it off my listing - so far they still have not taken it off. i will keep trying so no one else thinks the pool is still here. As of the not safe for pre-schoolers I am not sure why? Again thanks for staying with us. Terri

Great stop over
Gorgeous property at the top of the mountain. Views are spectacular! Terri was awesome and we had some good chats. As a birdwatcher, seeing 20-30 hummingbirds around the feeders constantly was really cool. The lodge is close to Grangeville, so you can go into town for food, groceries, etc. My kids loved the double bunks and the friendly animals.
