As for your comment on being old, the cottages are only 20 years old, and even so, doesn't that add to the character if everything is comfortable and functional, not every place can be refurbished every 5 years.

Thank you for your review. On day you arrived it was a 40 degree day and therefore the touch screen monitor was too hot and slow to respond. We do have a message to contact us and had you done this we could have just checked you in over the phone. We have looked at the shower head and replaced it with another. We hope you enjoyed your stay with us.

This guest has been unreasonable since they arrived. Unfortunately the swim spa had a maintenance issue that morning of Mr Cooks arrival which caused the swim spa to be shut down. To get to the part on the swim spa, the panel had to be pulled off. Not sure how this makes it look like it has been off for some time when a panel is screwed on and off in 2 minutes? How else do you attend to maintenance and how rude to make false assumptions and accusations when we explained directly that it had just happened that morning? Mr Cook was contacted on several occasions and advised of this and rather than understand it was out of our control (as the swim spa was not part of his accommodation cost), he is now targeting that cottages need updating. If a restaurant of a motel burnt down in a tragedy which caused the motel not being able to serve dinner, would one not understand and complain and write a shaming review? A shame we can’t live in a more understanding world where we remember that we are all human and sometimes things happen beyond our control.

Hi, thank you for your feedback. The heating/air conditioner was tested upon your departure and works fine, often guests do not know how to set the settings which is a standard remote control in Australia. The Swim spa/pool is actually described in all advertising and we sent you upcoming booking email repeating all this information and cost involved. Also in our email correspondence to you and day of arrival it was explained to you how you could get in contact with us free of charge through our inhouse telephone/email system. We cannot be responsible for you not reading our material that was sent to you and told to you on day of arrival and explained in your cottage in your guest information folder.

We note you tried to cancel you booking 2 days prior to arrival and we hope this review does not reflect your frustration that you were unable to cancel at such short notice. We have checked the shower and had it tested and were advised it worked perfectly fine. We’ve also asked guests for their feedback on several mornings after your stay and none had any comments of any problems with the shower. A towel may have been overlooked, apologies if it was (maybe from older stock) but most of our towels are now replaced new. As for our new swim spa feature, you were sent details of costs etc prior to your stay. Upon arrival we spoke to you and you advised us that everything was lovely and we mentioned to you should you need anything at all during your stay to contact us day or night. Had you spoken to us, we would happily have checked the shower for you and offered you a discount for the spa for you and your family should that have been something you really wanted to experience. Our pool and spa feature is not like other accommodation pools. It’s not open to everyone at once and you get to book it privately with many features and benefits. It is an optional extra for a fee, such as breakfast. As far as your comment to being the most expensive, we would like to point out that our rates are one of the most affordable in Port Fairy and the whole Great Ocean for the self-contained stand-alone style of accommodation we offer for a family of four.

In your instant feedback review you mention we are “quiet location, nice bed, clean, easy parking and quick”, however it seems your experience was tainted due to the extra fee applicable to our brand new swim spa/pool feature. This luxury indoor feature was specially built as an extra for guests so they could book a private session which requires bookings to ensure that you get to enjoy your experience of the swim spa/pool all to yourselves in private with special features such as Bluetooth so you can play your own music through the spa and turn on the led lights whilst enjoying all the features of the swim spa/pool. Our prices for accommodation are one of the lowest in Port Fairy and you are getting a standalone self-contained cottage and not a motel room. For those that want to spoil themselves further and pay a little bit extra, our swim spa/pool feature is an optional luxury extra that the guest can either choose to use or not. We believe our price is reasonable especially as if you were to go to the local day spa which is full of other people it would cost the same, but ours is private with bonus features we mentioned above and also onsite so you only have to walk back to your cottage. As a gesture, we would be more than happy to offer you a free one hour swim spa session for 2 people should you wish to book directly with us in future.
