Nice little house
This was a two bedroom house in a residential neighborhood near Volcano Nation Park. We stayed two nights to visit the nation park and surrounding area.

Older house, moldy smell
House was ok, kind of dated. The only problem I didn't like was that the couch and beds had a moldy smell to them, as did the house in general. The pillows smelled moldy too, they need to be replaced, I couldn't use them.

Nice two bedroom cottage, close to the volcano.
We stayed two nights. Very nice kitchen and very clean.

Nice and cozy cottage
It's very spacious cottage with full kitchen and two bedrooms. My sons love staying there and it's very relaxing to stay in the cottage at night due to limited activities in the park after dark. However, the TVs are too small (10-14 inch) and we couldn't do family movie nite. The fridge is too old and not cold enough. I thought it was broken and thus called the housekeeper. She is very nice and responsive. She came to check it right away and brought us a cooler with bags of ice. She tried to contact the manager for us but couldn't get a hold of her. Overall, it's a very nice experience staying here for 3 nights.

Volcano Park
Nice charming cottage, well equipped. Would be hard to find at night so be sure to at least drive by in daytime. Has a tiny, old TV and shower fixtures couldn't control heat but otherwise very nice.

Does the trick
The cottage seemed to be sealed well and bug-free, which is great for a jungly area like this. It had a bit of a musty smell but nothing terrible. It was very basic but cute and charming. This cottage is in a very convenient location, right in the town of Volcano, which is just a mile or so from Hawaii Volcano National Park, where a lot of people go to see the volcano glow after sunset. So the location is wonderful. There are even several excellent restaurants right in Volcano - if you like Thai food, Thai Thai Restaurant is absolutely outstanding. And in general, the jungly setting around the house is very lush and beautiful. Our main gripe was that the sheets didn't seem to have been changed. I flipped the pillowcases over and found eyelashes - only on the underside of the pillows. And I pulled the topsheet back and could see a clear impression/wrinkles where one person slept on the left side of the bed, but not the other. This wasn't a huge deal as there is a pantry with plenty of extra sheets and pillowcases, but it was a hassle to change them. If you book through hotels.com, be sure to call the property manager beforehand (during business hours) to get instructions on how to get in (~keycode). We didn't think about this and called rather late, about 9pm, and they did answer and were very nice and gave us the code.
