I am sorry your stay didn't meet your expectations.As you know I did explain that guests would be having their breakfast between 8-9 am and unusually we had one guest who required an earlier breakfast ; I apologize that you were disturbed - you mentioned that you didn't realize that it was light at 9 am - we talked about whether we were early or late risers - general conversation - and at no time would I have suggested you might have 'gone to bed' earlier; as you were clearly unhappy, I offered to refund your second night - I also explained that we do not get paid by agoda until after your stay & commission is deducted - I refunded you in full so please do not mislead other guests by your comments; I did not need to refund you but did so as a goodwill gesture Our breakfast room which is shown on our web site is in the same wing of the house as 2 of the B&B rooms - it has worked really well for the past 11 years Truenz Guides $380.80 1471490 Plumb $368.42 Payment Mr & Mrs Plumb Havelockhse. 03/10/2020 Refund $184.21

Dear Angela, Thank you for staying with us at Havelock House. I am sorry to hear you did not have a good stay but you had a good journey home to Toronto We enjoyed meeting you and your daughter, and hope you enjoyed visiting Hawke’s Bay In the bedrooms we provide TV, in room tea/coffee making & biscuits, fresh flowers & a comprehensive bedroom folder as well as free maps, and complimentary wifi; as well as complimentary refreshments on arrival which I think you enjoyed? Many of our facilities you didn’t use such as the 10 metre pool, the tennis court or the guest lounge and games room or small guest kitchen but they are all there for all our guests to enjoy We do provide safes in the rooms and usually guests find them large enough for their needs; there is also a lock on the inside of the bedroom door. Our bathrooms are far from basic, with large showers, vanity, basin & toilet , in addition we provide a range of quality bathroom products by Jaymar – the May Chang range - shampoo, conditioner, shower wash, & body lotion as well as wrapped hand soap, tissues, disposable bath hats, & make-up wipes and hair drier We have a beautiful home and gardens – guests usually remark that ‘the house & garden are beautiful’ ‘the gardens are amazing’, Wonderful gardens’ – these are just a few recent comments from guests taken from our visitors book; it may just not be to your taste? Given the fact that you were here for 3 days I am surprised you didn’t raise any of these issues personally with me at the time – we are very welcoming hosts and take great pride in offering a warm welcome to all our guests

Thanks for posting - very pleased you enjoyed your stay We are always happy to help with suggestions of things to see and do - and help guests with their holiday plans - we are close to Havelock North,Te Mata Peak, wineries, cycle tracks, great restaurants such as like Black Barn, Pipi's. Maina and Craggy Range ( winery) and lots of other choices in Havelock North village - where there are more than 10 cafes/ 12 restaurants & excellent shopping Hope to see you back here another time

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback - I am sorry you didn't mention the pillows when you were here as it would have been a simple job to replace them for you - pillows are quite a personal item and we have other pillows we could have offered you We offer complimentary refreshments when guests arrive with home baking, and the in room tea/coffee is provided for your comfort but I am generally on hand to make hot drinks for guests if required Our bedroom folder is full of useful information about things to see & do in Havelock North & Napier as well as providing a list of restaurants - and items we are happy to lend guests such as beach chairs, guide books etc With regard to the request in our bedroom folders to turn lights off when not in the room - like all businesses in New Zealand we try and save valuable resources The breakfast menu is quite extensive - choice of hot drinks,teas & coffee - we make our own muesli as well as marmalade and use fresh local produce, fresh fruit / and poached fruit is always provided - guests can choose from the menu - for example scrambled eggs & smoked salmon or poached eggs & bacon ' my signature dish' and 4 or 5 other dishes; we would have been happy to cook and prepare whatever you wanted; other guest reviews often mention how much they have enjoyed the breakfasts. Havelock House was built approx. 30 years ago - in the style of older Bay properties and is furnished in a traditional style which suits us. We are in a country location - yet an easy 5 minute drive into Havelock North - it is very likely we will get the odd cobweb in the eaves but hank you for bringing it to our attention I hope you have an enjoyable time on your return visit Kind Regards Diana
