This is a beautiful Heritage home with well appointed rooms located in the lovely village of Stanley on Tasmania’s north coast. The bonus is the Little ‘Fairy’ Penguin viewing each night a short walk from the guest house.

I love Hanlon Guest House. It's our second time staying there (both time Beach View Queen Suite Up Stairs with Balcony). Beautiful place. Close to town, the Nut and lovely little penguins.

Great location to all shops, cafes, beach and the nut. Excellent bar and snack options both in room and guest lounge. However, in summer it needs a fan or air conditioning as the room was stiffling. The bed was very hard. Fan didnt work in bathroom and you can only watch TV from bed as it doesnt move to face the comfortable chairs.

Hanlon House was a very quiet, clean and comfortable stay. It is a short walk to the Main Street, the beach front and The Nut. The house itself also has deep history and heritage which was interesting to read about and experience in the decor throughout the house.

Enjoyed our three day stay at Hanlon House. Delightful colonial home . Our room was large with a view across to the ocean. We watched the fairy penguins come in from the ocean one night which was a lovely experience, A recommended stay.

Very friendly host, bed was super comfortable, enough towels and bath room supplies. Good tea n coffee. Close to the beach and the Nut chairlift .Would recommend staying here.

Staying in this beautifully preserved piece of history allowed me to fulfill a dream of mine which was to visit and stay in Stanley and explore the township and especially hike around the Nut. The extra surprise for me was the joy of seeing the Little Penguins that would waddle all the way right up to the house itself and past it. I could only imagine life 100 yesrs ago in this area of the world, no wonder they chose to stay, its absolutely spectacular. The house and its room was so homely, I didnt want to leave. Very big and comfortable, beautifully decorated and furnished. Extremely comfortable bed, clean and spacious bathroom. I love the trust system, although I didnt get to sample any drinks on offer this time around, I'm sure to next time. It was always a great feeling to come home to Hanlon House after a big day of exploring and activities. Thank you for maintaining such a wonderful property and hosting me

Two enjoyable nights
We really enjoyed our stay at Hanlon Guest House and were very comfortable. Everything was clean and comfortable and the location was quiet but close to all attractions of Stanley. We would stay here again.

I could not believe that I found such a good place to stay. This place is right next to the penguin platform, and about 5mins walk to the stores and 10mins drive to Highfield Historic Lookout. The place is decent and well vintage-decorated. Nice and clean. The only thing is the parking. I only could park at the natural grass area with an angle.

Great guest house near town centre
Amazing guest house in the shadow of The Nut in Stanley. Historic house converted in accommodation rooms. We had a King Room - not large but OK for a 2 night stay. No direct contact with owners - keys and instructions were left at the front door. Good wifi. Parking was on street. Great location for walking into town and restaurants and to see the penguins on the nearby beach.

Location is perfect for this lovely tastefully renovated historic building. Several eateries with a few minutes walk and we had a very quiet stay even on aTassy long weekend.

We loved staying at Hanlon House. It is vey beautiful and relaxing. The front room, with the honesty system for the serve-yourself drinks and snacks is a beautiful idea. We really felt at home. The chairs on the verandah with cushions is a nice relaxing touch too. The room had everything, great coffee machine and iron and ironing board. The dressing gowns is a nice touch too. The room and bathroom were very clean as well and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner supplied. We even had a beautiful view of The Nut. Next time we visit Tasmania, we are going to book multiple days here. Everything is so well thought out, so much love, heart and smarts has gone into how this Guest House is presented to guests. Also, it was vey interesting to read the history of Hanlon House, which was typed onto a piece of paper in the old type writer. Lucy & Anton
