The listing for days inn windham west des Moines/ Clive stated they had a pool and description said it had a outdoor heated pool but there was NOT a pool of ANY kind on the property. The WHOLE reason we had made reservation at a hotel was so my kiddos could go swimming and not "break the bank" .

The place is good value if you’re looking for a minimalistic place that is inexpensive on your roadtrip. Our beds were very new and comfortable. The room was clean.

Its dirty, looks scary on the back side. You can tell its a long stay hotel that ran to the ground and the owners bought it and have tried to cheaply fix it up. The only warm breakfast options were waffles. There was mold in shower. Holes in the ceiling stuffed with paper. You could here the traffic from the interstate. To get to the back upper rooms you have to walk up outside steps and walk clear down and around. The bed is literally a mattress on metal bars. There was dog food all over our floor. Just gross!

tv would not turn on. contacted front desk and clerk came up and something happened and the tv worked-but couldn't adjust volume or shut it off. only when un- plugging the power cord would the tv go off and when plugged in again the tv would come on automatically. also the heater wouldn't shut off when room temperature reached the set temp.

Dirty grounds, cigarette butts and spit on side walks. There wasn't an alarm clock in the room. I booked the room for 2 days and they deactivated my room key after the first day. I had to go down to the front desk and get it fixed. Very inconvenient, due to having to leave my friend along with my shopping standing outside in the cold.

The door to room 142 did not close properly. Needed to force close. It was unaligned. The bathroom looks like they were trying to "remodel" but the workmanship was horrible and looked unfinished. The queen bed was set on a full size frame so sitting on the edge was dangerous. Free breakfast was limited to waffles, toast and cereal. Didn't see any juice, eggs (hard-boiled or scrambled). Although staff at the desk was friendly, it was very hard to understand him and had to ask him to repeat questions multiple times.

All of the rooms are exterior entrances and the property was a mess. They said it was because they just completed a remodel but it must have been some other rooms because ours doesn't look like anything had ever been updated. Including the hairdryer in the bathroom that had been ripped off the wall. The room was so small that they could only fit two double beds and not queen sized bed. There was tons of junk from the remodel that was all over the property. I don't mean to rip on the place but it needed a lot of work to be just average.

It appeared that the property was still in a refresh mode; “not everything finished upgrading“
Staff had difficulty communicating in English.
The breakfast bar would have been better if they had regular coffee (they were out and the morning desk staff didn’t know where or how to replenish). Great array of sugary carbs, very little fruit and no yogurt.
They hopefully will do better in the future.

We got there and they claim we didn’t have a reservation. We had a prepaid reservation. I checked my email to find they checked us in 2 1/2 hours before we got there. They finally gave us a room. We get to the room to find the door did not latch all the way, and the door frame was damaged. So even getting the door latched the best we could it was still loose in the frame. It looks like it might have been kicked it. Very disappointed.

all bad....
Dirty room, trash on the floor, looksed like poop was rubbed on the wall, bathroom door would not shut, looked like a dog tried to eat it, toilet was dirty, shower had holes in the floor, No one ended up even showering here, overal 0 stars.

Window was cracked. Carpet was wet. Room smelled of mildew. Went out to get food and someone panicking asked us for narcan before the police showed up. Someone was selling various pets and hedgehogs out of a unit. All in all. Hilarious experience. Enough for a good story but only for one good story. Be careful.
