Never again!
Only the location was good. The room was dated but not that bad. The most problem at this hotel is staff and service. They alwasys kept lying. At first, they said twice of taxi fare and later they changed the word. Moreover, they promised me to serve breakfast box instead of breakfast buffet because I had to leave earlier. But in the morning they said they have no idea even paid including breakfast. And after I checked thier note about breakfast box, they said the cook has some problem.. excuse and lie again and again.

overbooking
i made reservation in Oct for staying on 31 Dec but they did not inform anything until i arrived the hotel. When check in, they said there is no room and introduced the zanzibar hotel . The zanzibar hotel is cheaper than Dhow but i did not have any choice. They kept bring other overbooked customers to the zanzibar hotel. plz double check if you reserve Dhow palace.

Flott og rent hotell!
Vi hadde et glimrende opphold på dette hotellet. Alt var bra og vi ble oppgradert til bryllupsuiten ved ankomst uten å ha best om det, kjempebra service! God frokost med mye frukt og en hyggelig mann som stekte egg slik du ville ha dem. Kommer tilbake hit hvis det blir flere besøk til Zanzibar!

The property is very beautiful, it has very nice decoration. Our room was exactly as in the photos, clean and beautiful. Also the staff very welcoming and ready to serve at any time. I highly recommend it!

Stone Town is over rated. The area is dirty, the buildings' facades are falling apart. The public parks and beaches are mostly dirty, with garbage everywhere. I wouldn't suggest to stay there. Better stay some where else in Zanzibar and just spend one morning walking around Stone Town. The hotel air condioner was really noisy, the pillows uncomfortable. Could improve in several things.

Wonderful ambience with unique style and antiques all around. Only a two block walk to the beach, five minutes to Forodhani market. A good sanctuary among the busyness of Stone Town. No alcohol served or allowed on the premises. Food is generally good.

The Dhow Palace was a great place to stay, convenient to everything that Stone Town has to offer. The staff is amazing, very friendly and super helpful in organizing taxis and tours, and recommending activities as needed. The breakfast was also plentiful with varying options on a daily basis, unlike some places that offer the same exact things everyday. Housekeeping also came to the rooms on a daily basis to spray against mosquitos as a safety precaution. This was out first time in Zanzibar and we were there as a group for a couple of days. We wanted to experience different types of accomodations, and also had booked an Airbnb for a part of our stay, a decision we immediately regretted once we saw both places. Even after checking out, we still ended going back to Dhow Palace almost on a daily basis for one reason or another for the remainder of our stay in Zanzibar. Highly recommend.

Very friendly and attractive hotel, staff happy and invariably helpful. A good place to stay although it is in a busy area of Stone Town.

Perfect place to stay to immerse yourself in the history and feel of old Zanzibar. The staff is eager and very helpful; the rooms spacious with lots of character. The hotel overbooked and I was moved (for one night) to a room in their sister hotel’s annexed rooms, which was fine but I’m glad it was only one night.

Great Place to Stay
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was in the heart of stone town and walking distance to the pier. Breakfast was very nice with a lot of options to choose from.

Worth a stay
We stayed for 2 nights before flying back home. The hotel is old and beautiful with clean rooms and hot water. Breakfast is pretty standard for Tanzania with omelette, pancakes etc with some additional sweets. Located quite close to everything there is to see and do in Stonetown.

Très déçu par l'hôtel qui n'était pas propre,une odeur forte et déplaisante dans la chambre et la salle de bain. Impossible de s'y sentir à l'aise! Le balcon était difficile d'accès car le lit bloqué la porte et les chaises pliantes sont inconfortable. Cependant les espaces communs et particulièrement la terrasse sont agréables et l'établissement est très bien situé,au centre de la ville.

Very traditional Omani Hotel in the Centre of Stone Town. Nice Pool and Pictures of the room are realistic of what to expect. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Super convenient and great staff
Booked this hotel for my last night in zanzibar and as my flight was early. Super convenient location. The hotel is not 'modern' but has all the conditions needed, has a lift, and room was well cleaned and comfortable. The fridge had 2 complimentary waters. They organised a taxi to the airport ( 10 usd) and prepared 2 boxes of breakfast has we needed to leave hotel at 6h45am.

Angrer ikke på at vi valgte dette hotellet. Perfekt beliggenhet, og nydelig interiør. Frokosten var overraskende grei til Zanzibar å være - fersk frukt, bakevarer, pølser, og til og med omelettstasjon. Rommet var behagelig, men badet kunne trengt litt kjærlighet. Vi var tomme for vann en kveld, ringte resepsjonen, og de sendte noen som dro og kjøpte vann for oss. Bra service.

Downgraded and not compensated.
The porters and men at breakfast were good. However they downgraded us rooms and the owner/manager made themself scarce. And never resolved the problem. We were told we had a nice room. The room wasn't sound proofed, no safe, no pool view, ac never got cold at its lowest temperature. I didn't get what i paid for, I paid more for a room and was given a cheaper room. And the hotel did nothing about it except say sorry. Would NOT recommended this hotel.

Mycket häftigt och annorlunda hotell. Tyvärr serverade de inget vin eller öl till maten i restaurangen. Hotellet var mycket lyhört. Tuppar som började gala kl.4 på morgonen. Personalen var mycket serviceinriktad och hjälpte oss med många olika saker som tex bra pris på taxiresor m.m.
