We were distressed travelers and found this "hotel" online. My wife is 7 months pregnant and we had our 1 year old daughter with us. The property is very dingy and appears outdated. We asked the owner to view the room before deciding if we would stay. The owner walked us to the room and stood outside while we checked. We pulled back one corner of the bed cover and sheet to check for bed bugs and turned on the AC unit to make sure it was working. We exited the room and my wife asked what would be done if there were any issues with the room. The owner told us "I cannot give you your money back because you used the room". He went on to say that "I cannot rent that room now, because housekeeping is not here to put it back together". He was being most unreasonable because all we did was check for bed bugs and to make sure the AC was working-all he had to do was put the cover back and turn the AC unit off. He spoke very rudely towards my wife and chose to be condescending. I told him to fix his tone and to address me instead. He then accused me of being aggressive, and I told him, I'm not being aggressive, I'm just letting you know that your tone is not appropriate. I asked if he was the manager, and he told me he was the owner and gave me his name which I can neither pronounce or recall.
It is ridiculous that he considered our checking the room for bed bugs and to make sure the AC worked as "using the room". We didn't take any luggage in, didn't use any towels/amenities, etc.
