Check was quick and easy which was great as we were going to a concert at Roche Estate which was only 1/2 walk.

The property and staff are fantastic. Our room smelt nice when opening the door and it was lovely and cool inside thanks to the air conditioning. The place has so much history which we appreciated. On the negative side we were very disappointed after a big day that the restaurant was not operating, plus there was nothing else available to eat or drink. I would have expected coffee and cakes etc at least, but absolutely nothing, so we had to drive elsewhere for dinner. It was a public holiday over the Easter weekend, but really, that’s when people are on holidays to relax and unwind. Sorry for the negative comment and I hope that doesn’t detract others from staying there, but I guess one shouldn’t assume the restaurant will open every day/night so it might pay to check first.

Absolute class act as always, immaculate property/grounds, beautifully presented rooms and engaging and kind staff. This place is a dream to stay in. If you are looking to splurge or enjoy a romantic getaway this is the place to stay in the Hunter.

It’s lovely accommodation but not for the price tag- hotel is a little run down and rooms are very small.

The history is something that we can all be proud of and the decor is so awesome..... what I didn't like was the room is too dusty as my husband kept sneezing and I could see the dust and hair on the bed frame the shower is too inconvenient and too difficult to get the right water temperature upon checking in, the receptionist kept telling me things that i wasn't aware of - maybe got mized up with another group who were checking in on the same day most of all - it was my husband and I's 35th wedding anniversary and there was no acknowledgment whatsoever! If I've made a booking at The Shangri-la, the celebration would have been acknowledged with a nice greeting and a tasteful cake!!!!!

We retraced our steps from 26 years ago to return to The Convent. it was as special today as not was then. The staff were friendly and would go out of their way to assist us. The atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable and comfortable. The windows in our room (815) rattled all night in the wind and the air code was tricky to get working. Water pressure was fantastic and hot water was In abundance so the showers were great (though the bath tub (shower over bath) is a little narrow when standing in). Circa restaurant was as enlightening today as it had been all those years ago (then 'Roberts').

The staff were very pleasant & mostly accommodating. The room requires updating, for both bathroom & curtains. Wifi was quite patchy at times, whilst there is nothing but free to air television available. We found The Convent not good value for money, well over priced for $500 a night including a limited breakfast.

Property was a beautiful boutique hotel with lovely gardens and great staff. With it being a boutique hotel however, some of the amenities like the bathroom were showing their age and not up to date with certain facilities. Overall a lovely place to stay

Great property. Very quiet. Lovely seeing the kangaroos hop by with their joeys in their pouches. Good amenities. I would have liked the hotel to offer some picnic hampers, cheese or charcuterie boards for in-house guests as there was no room service or lunch options available. After a day of wining and dining an option of a light dinner would have been great. Otherwise great stay.

It is a lovely property, however for the price the rooms are out dated and I would have expected a high quality - there was no full length mirror in the bedrooms and the bathrooms could be renovated to justify the cost per night.

The Convent.
We had a fabulous time. The garden cabin we stayed was beautiful and quiet. The breakfast was delicious and served on the verandah in scenic surrounds.

Almost excellent.
Lovely slightly dated room, very comfy, but rather sparsely furnished. TV almost 5 metres from bed or singe seats, day bed foam mattress with loose sheet covering. Big disappointment was the bathroom, very overdue for refurbishment. Wish I was advised this was a disabled room. Great service in breakfast room.
