브라이튼시내와는버스를타면20분정도걸리며주변은공기좋고맑은느낌이다 문앞에위치한싱글룸이였는데오고가는사람들로인해너무시끄러웠다 저녁에는1층카페에서술먹고그래서음악소리로인해시끄러워잠을이룰수없었다 객실도약간시골분위기가나고 요새호텔과는사뭇다른느낌이고 현관문도카드가아닌열쇠로열어야한다 아침은뷔페가아니고세가지정도의토스트를초이스해야하는식이다 다시가라고하면주저할꺼같다

Zunächst das Positive. Ich konnte sehr früh in der Unterkunft einchecken und mein Auto auf dem großzügigen Parkplatz neben dem Haus abstellen. Darum hatte ich die Unterkunft auch gebucht. Fast direkt vor dem Hotel fährt der Bus nach Brighton. Ein 24h-Ticket kostet 5,50£. Ich wurde sehr freundlich begrüßt. Dann wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass es am nächsten Morgen keine warme Küche gäbe. Ich bekam daraufhin gleich ein Lunchpaket für den nächsten morgen. Jetzt zu den weniger schönen Dingen. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer gebucht. Diese war auf der Rückseite des Gebäudes und besaß einen eigenen Eingang ( Zimmernummer 14). Das Zimmer war sehr schlicht und zweckmäßig. Daher war erstmal alles ok und ich hab mich gleich mit dem Bus nach Brighton aufgemacht. Nach einem langen Tag in Brighton hab ich mich dann auf mein Bett gefreut. Ich musste dann feststellen, dass die Heizung nicht funktionierte und es sehr kalt wurde. Ich hatte auch das Gefühl, dass die Fenster nicht richtig dicht waren. Dann ist das Haus wahnsinnig hellhörig. Man hört die Straße sehr laut. Außerdem kam ich mir wie Harry Potter unter der Treppe vor. Die Eigentümer müssen ihre Wohnung direkt über dem Zimmer haben. Es war bis nachts um 1 abartig laut. Es hat gescheppert und gerumpelt. Am nächsten Morgen wollte ich meinen Schlüssel abgeben. Es war niemand zu erreichen und das B&B war auch komplett geschlossen. Da war mir klar, warum es keine warme Küche gab. Ich war anscheinend der einzige Gast.

Basic, cheap but clean accommodation, perfect for a 1 or 2 night stay. I didn’t eat here so can’t comment on the food. Walking distance to local shops and various takeaways, petrol station just down the road and bus stop right outside. Large car park. Beautiful views of the coastline. Would consider staying here again.

Disappointing!
I had booked a room which included cooked breakfast. On arrival was told no chef no food. I was handed a breakfast bag containing a croissant, cereal bar, cocoa pops (i must of looked 5 years old) and half carton of milk which was warm by the morning. No apology no offer of a refund. Small towel was discoloured and shower head was rusty. All in all not impressed at all!!

The staff were very friendly and the hotel room was quite clean but the building itself was quite run down and not particularly clean. The bedroom windows were covered in bird poo. I think it was a reasonable price for 3 people to stay there and there was plenty of car parking space but if you want a fancy hotel this isn’t it.

Disappointed.
I booked the room late as it advertised a restaurant - not available due to staff shortages and no notification before, during or after booking. Not impressed. The room was cold - there was a second heater so that tells the story and the bathroom was freezing so that where the extra heater went. The room and bathroom condition was poor. It advertised free wifi but it was impossible to connect and I was next to the main building (pub) - not impressed. Free parking was useful. I left before breakfast which I expected but start time is 08:00 which is quite late. I would not stay here again.

Stayed in one of the small solo rooms while travelling for business, although the staff were friendly and the breakfast very nice not much else good can be said. No evening food was being served although it was advertised online and outside The room opened to the smoking area, the loud locals can't be helped but the small blind gave little privacy. The water temperature was lukewarm at best and the door to the bathroom struck the bed every time it was opened I'm sure the more expensive rooms are fine but for a single traveller, I would avoid

No evening food available due to no kitchen staff. No mention of this at booking, room very basic and consistent noise from something throughout the night. Breakfast was available and the guy was lovely and breakfast ok.

A pleasant surprise
Chose this hotel because of a) its proximity to Sussex University and b) the low price. My modest expectations were exceeded: the staff were really friendly and helpful, the bar was pleasant, and the room - while small and slightly shabby - was very clean. My only criticism is that breakfast didn't start until 9am on Saturday (an hour after I had to leave) so I missed starting the day with a full English.

Would not and could not fault the Downs hotel. Was absolutely perfect for my needs. Great value for money, friendly staff, lovely cooked breakfast, and free on site parking. I regard this place as a real find and will be booking again :)

Nice room great full English
Hotel was shabby from outside... An old pub which could do with updating. Room was nice and clean and modern and very comfortable. Full English breakfast was good in morning. Staff friendly. Noisy road at front so need windows shut at night. All in all a nice affordable stay thank you.

Terrible
When you pay for an ensuite room it isnt allt to ask to have running water and heat. Neither of qhichbi had for my entire 2 day stay. I had no running water in the shower at all. Zero and the sink tap had a cold water tap and a luke warm tepid tap. I gave up and had to boil a kettle to have a wash. The radiator was stone cold and no heat for 2 days. I was so cold i had to get under the quilt just to warm up. It was dreadful. A lady at breakfast did come to see and chexked the shower and confirmed it needed fixing and she advised me to use a communal bathroom. As a lone female traveller I would not use them as a matter of safety and especially as alcohol is served inma pub below. I paid for a bathroom and this is what i wanted. Another couple at breakfast complained that they had running water but it was cold and no heat. I cannot believe they have had the cheek to take money for another booking which I cancelled based on this exoerience. Under the consumer act they are in breach of contract and have not provided the service paid for and not to a comfortable standard. I dont enjoy writing such a negative review but sadly ive been left with little choice.

We needed a Hotel close to the Hospital. Fawlty Towers comes to mind. It was very adequate for us, beds comfy, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast brilliant when the chief turns up! Would stay there again as all the staff make it homely. Pity they were not doing evening meals.

Overpriced, under-serviced, disappointing.
Imagine arriving at a hotel and being told it's closed two days a week. No facilities, no bar, no restaurant, no breakfast and limited staff. They accepted your booking anyway and claimed you were informed of these things the time you made the booking. Well, not in such a prominent way for me to actually know. Room ok. Though no ventilation without leaving the windows open and it was a busy main road in a heatwave.

Brighton one night stay
It did what it said on the tin. Nights stay, reasonable place, convenient and booked with 1 day to go. Efficient really. It was not that noisy like the reviews say. It was also a beautiful view from the room we were in. We got packages breakfast in the room due to COVID restrictions but this was fine. It’s close to Brighton and Stamner park where we went with the dog, who also stayed over for an additional £5. All good really

Avoid at all costs!
It was clear from the outset, the proprietors have sadly neglected this business. The general condition of the building, with moss on the roof-tiles; old, worn paintwork and a very dog-eared banner for Sky sports, which should have come down years ago, were all disappointing to find.... and didn’t bode well. On arrival, I found the staff present that night to be very friendly and courteous, however. Maybe I was being over-cautious with my first impression? But unfortunately I found my room to be dirty, with an oil-filled electric heater as the central heating didn’t work and a broken stool. As I was just passing through, arriving late and leaving early I made do, but had I been visiting for a longer stay, I would have looked for somewhere else. I was disappointed with diner, the worst Hunter’s chicken I’ve experienced... the thick covering of melted cheese (about 10 to 15mm) was overkill, but the chips were good. Incidentally, this was about £4 more expensive than my previous night’s dinner at the Crab in Shanklin, IoW, which was a much better meal. Breakfast was reasonable, with a decent sausage and nicely-fried egg, but the cofffee was the cheapest instant (I work in the coffee industry and have previously worked in hotel management). I didn’t bother with the teaspoon I was given, as it looked as if it had spent the last six months on the floor after being lost behind the fridge (and the welcome message in my room spoke of enhanced Covid cleaning measures!).

Outer Brighton visit.
Nice pleasant visit , we’re made welcome with our small puppy. Evening meal was good , breakfast not so good but breakfast bag option was good.

This is a budget-ish hotel. We had a room at the front with an ensuite (extra £20) and boy! The road outside is busy and noisy! The pub itself was ok and the guys behind the bar were charming and friendly. My husband said the Harveys was good and the pinot was enjoyable too. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the linen super soft and fine for 1 night. Breakfast was.....not served til 10am!!! I had to nip over to the local Co-op and buy a danish at 7:30 to keep us going! I also had an 'incident' at breakfast when I sat on the restaurant chair and the whole thing collapsed in 3 places. The deputy manager helped my husband pull me up (it was in a tight spot) and instead of apologising just said, 'Are you alright?' Breakfast is, in the main, ok. It does the job but with little to inspire. Reasonable ingredients, cooked not especially well and presented almost grudgingly - on the plate and by the server. For one night only, and in the event of nowhere else being available, this is (at best) an ok place but not one I would recommend. It is what it is
