I wouldn’t call this a hotel, rather a shabby ,run down , grubby, dingy guest house. The curtains were tatty & almost hanging off the track in room 11. Pillows cheap nasty clumps of foam. En suite .... if u could call it that was so small you could hardly turn around in it. My cake mixing bowl is bigger than the sink in there! Absurdly expensive @£80 for single occupancy. No where to eat nearby apart from 1 restaurant offering a £50 taster menu. Shame as it is a beautiful building but needs a comprehensive up grade.

der Standort war gut, zwei Minuten zum Bus, von da 5 min. in die Stadt. Die Zimmer waren in einem sehr sehr alten Zustand, es war leicht miefig im Zimmer, die Tapeten gingen ab, und im Bad schimmelte es in einigen Ecken. Für 50€ wäre alles ok gewesen, aber für rund 100€ die Nacht einfach eine Frechheit

Well placed, but single room not great
The hotel was in a nice road in quite a smart bit of Edinburgh, with a bus stop just round the corner – so perfect for returning home late at night on my own. The room was clean – small, but I knew it would be. Teas and coffees provided. When I booked it I hadn't realised it said private bathroom rather than ensuite, but I didn't mind this, assuming that meant it was my own bathroom, but outside the room rather than within it. Turns out that 'private bathroom' actually means 'with lock' as it was very much a shared bathroom, on the floor below, although there is a tiny loo on the top floor. The worst thing about the room, however, is the fact that there's no window, just a skylight covered with a sort of lace curtain thing. So there is no view, and no way of seeing what the weather's doing, and it felt very claustrophobic in there. While I would consider booking this hotel again, I wouldn't book that room again, and I would suggest that Expedia should review the mention of 'private bathroom' and change it to 'shared bathroom'.

What a dump, the rooms smelt awful in fact as soon as you walk into the building the smell hits you. Room was spacious but windows would not open properly as gunked up with paint and grime Staff were unhelpful I told them I had to see a client first thing in the morning, I was too early for breakfast which is only open for 1 hour and when i went into the breakfast area there was sheets drapped over the tables and chairs vey hygienic, she gave me a Banana and a yogurt I would not of ate anything else from the kitchen as it looked appalling dirty. This is with out doubt the worst hotel I have ever stopped in Parking is on the road

Très bon accueil et bien situé
Emplacement idéal pour visiter Édimbourg. Calme et proche de la station de bus. Chambre spacieuse pour 3 et très propre. Le petit déjeuner est cependant très moyen.

Pleasant stay in Edinburgh
A pleasant stay in a quiet area. Had a small room at the top overlooking gardens. Although I did have a car ( street parking) it was handy to get a bus to the Royal Mile or Princes Street. Not really anywhere local to eat or shop.

Tenant nice and willing to help you. Room clean and simple. Breakfast a bit too small. 30min walk to city center. Major black point: no free parking as described when I booked, got a 30£ fine... => 110£ for one night ; a bit too expensive.

Très bon accueil.
Accueil chaleureux et sympathique. Le propriétaire est prêt à donner tous conseils nécessaires pour faciliter le séjour. Nous sommes arrivés tard. La clé nous attendait malgré tout. Chambre de 4 personnes assez spacieuse. Petit déjeuners copieux. Un peu en dehors du centre d'Edinburgh mais liaison aisée par bus.

Nice place where to spend few nights
Changed towels and cleaned room every day. The lady (I guess the owner) welcomed us in a very nice way..bus stop for the city centre just 1 minute from the building..totally recommend!

Great deal for the money
I stayed in a separate room with shared facilities. The room was clean, warm enough, but additional heaters were provided if needed. Shared facilities were clean and I never had to queu to get there. The hotel people were very friendly

Value for money
Budget hotel ideal for a short stay. Overall everything was ok. The room and the toilet were small but nice and comfy, the area is really quite and close to the Arthur 's seat. It's 30 minutes walking far from the city centre, but there are buses just out in the street (anyway the walk is pleasant). The staff is kind.

Lovely stay
It was exactly as the pictured showed. Good transport connections in the city centre (but make sure you have small change to pay for the buses). I felt very at home, Herman was a great host with loads of local knowledge and even offering to take me on a wee tour in the car on a miserable day. I had a lovely stay and I would recommend staying here.

We had a nice stay over NYE at tgis B&B. The room was very spacious and clean. The manager was very friendly and gave us many good suggestions on where to go and what to see in Edinburgh.

Suitable for short stay
The room was good for a short stay and had just what we needed ie. kettle and ensuite bathroom. Would recommend requesting additional bedding as the room was cold during the night despite the heater being on.

Good value for money
The hosts were friendly and helpful. The on-suite was a bit tight but I am a big man and cannot really complain about that. Beds were comfortable and clean and the room was serviced every day. The breakfast was a selection of cereals and you could have eggs and toast. We did not have an issue with that as we have cereal for breakfast on a normal day. Considering what we paid, it was really good value for money.

Inaccurate Description
The main problem with this hotel was that it advertised the room i booked as having a Private Bathroom. I am aware that this does not mean en suite but it also does not mean that i share a bathroom and shower with other rooms and anyone using the stairway. I pointed this out to the owner on arrival but his response was there was nothing he could do. What he can do in future is not advertise a bathroom as being 'private' when it clearly isnt. There was no bath mat provided either in the room or the bathroom itself, if I had used the shower I would have stepped out on to a grubby,dirty door mat. The second disappointment was that the cooked breakfast was eggs and nothing else and the toasty that came with it looked as if it had been(under) cooked with a hair dryer. 3rd problem was parking, again they advertised free parking but the hotel actually on has 2 spaces which were both taken by the time I arrived. . there is some parking in the street but these were all taken up by residents. . A bit more clarity and honesty in the advertising would be appreciated.

Per un breve soggiorno di vacanza ad Edimburgo ho prenotato queto BB. Viaggiavo in auto ed è possibile pargheggiare in strada, con un po di fortuna, praticamente davanti alla struttura. All'arrivo personale gentile ci spiega il tutto e ci da la chiave della camera. La camera è immensa con una luminosissima bowindow. Camera altissima decorata con stucchi. Il bagno in camera ha una grande doccia, il WC ed un minuscolo lavandino. Il letto matrimoniale è comodo e pulito. A terra l'onnipresente moquette su un pavimento scricchiolante. Solita scarsità di prese ma abbontandi ciabatte con prese sul pavimento, ovviamente solo spine GB perciò idispensabile un adattatore! La camera di notte è silenziosa. La colazione scarsa e con poca scelta ma sufficiente per noi italiani. La WIFI dopo la prima notte è sparita e non è stato più possibile connettersi.

The morning I was due to check out I went to use the shower but to my surprise when I turned it on only a dribble of water came out, this was ice cold. I turned on the tap on the sink only to find the water was ice cold. When I reported the poor shower pressure and cold water to the lady who greeted me on my check out she just said "Ok, thank you for staying with us". Surprised by this response I asked if the poor shower pressure was a common complaint which she replied, "Yes the shower pressure is very poor the higher the room". She also added "I've only just started working here recently so I'm not too sure. I couldn't believe my ears. Obviously I wont be staying here again and wouldn't recommend anyone else staying here either, not until warm water and a decent shower is on offer, the very minimum you would come to expect from a B&B offering a room with an en-suite!!

Very welcoming hotel
We stayed here for two nights during a weekend away in Edinburgh. We found that the location was practical and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay at The Thistle House. The breakfast was also very nice and the room was spacious. We would definitely stay here again.

Cozy hotel
Cozy hotel near to the bus stop, so it's easy to go to the city center. Also it's close to go to the Arthur's seat. I loved my 3 nights stay there.

Small and friendly place to stay.
Room was clean with a comfortable double bed. The service was friendly, considerate and helpful. It is a quiet place to stay with no traffic noise and is a peaceful place to stay. The continental breakfast was good. It is within short walks for restaurants and take away food.

Delightful B&B
Nice clean guesthouse in a quiet but convenient location. Breakfast was simple but adequate, the dining room small but very nicely presented. A few problems encountered with the bathroom plumbing, but dealt with immediately. We would definitely recommend
