Arrived and they were not expecting me, although I had emailed and called them. owner was not in town, didn't check in but was told I could stay in a room until owner returned, maybe tomorrow. room was small no windows, no towels, no toilet paper and on that first evening there was no water. no TV, no internet, no free breakfast. only thing that was as advertised was the air-conditioning. I moved out at noon on the second day to a real hotel. never did see owner or any staff. only locals trying to sell local girls.

Right in the beach. Located in a bad neighborhood and had a difficult time finding the place bc I could not believe Expedia even had this motel listed. Bed took up the entire room, ni lamp, tv didnt work. Bed sheet didnt fit the bed, comforter was torn as well ad the shams. Ni pillows and I didnt feel comfortable having either one touch my face. So my arm was my pillow. Paid for 4 nights, stayed one. Get what you paid for.

Boca Chica is AWFUL!!!
The task o f even FINDING this hotel was miserable. We drove around and around for over an hour. The phone number on their webpage is disconnected. No way to see the tiny sign in what look like a bar on front street. You have to walk through to the back to get to the hotel which had blaring music on in restaurant. Was not sure how to even maneuver check in as we could not leave our bags in the car in this awful area. Ultimately decided to forget the non refundable room payment and find a nicer hotel. I live in Costa Rica. Not afraid of traveling and local environments but also saavy enough to know when an area is sketchy.

Old hotel in unsafe area
Old hotel with no phone to confirm reservation. No sign out front, very difficult to find. Cracked tiles, holes in walls, exposed electrical wiring, lost power every night, they ran a generator. Half-way working air conditioner that leaked water down the wall, puddling on the floor. Bars on windows, my door had 4 locks. Security fence locked at night w a guard sleeping in lobby. However, staff exellent. Kept me safe. Drove me to airport. And the beach was right there.

Old world hotel on the beach
I was supposed to have a beach view room - first night it was not available so had to sleep elsewhere & move the next day. Airport shuttle was supposed to be available and then I had to pay $25. While the employees were VERY nice, the hotel was just average.

N.B: The airport pick up and drop off is clearly stated on our page that we charge $25 each way daytime. We do not provide free shuttle.

Pas content du tout de cet hôtel nous avions réservé une chambre avec balcon on nous l'a pas donné on nous a donné une chambre avec des grilles a la fenetre.l'entrée de la chambre est composé d une grande alcôve vitrée qui donne sur la réception on n'a pas été d'accord pour loger là-dedans ils nous ont mis un rideau. Pour le petit-déjeuner on nous a proposé Café deux toasts avec de l'huile et basta tout le reste était payant. Quant à la plage privée ce n'est pas du tout ce qu'on pense cette plage privée se compose de deux matelas et de table posé sur le sable où tout le monde accès comme toute la plage de Boca Chica qui est publique. Je ne recommande pas du tout cet.hôtel. le jour de notre départ nous avions besoin d'un taxi ils nous ont demandé notre téléphone personnel pour l'appeler c'est quand même pas normal. Le wifi ne marche pas dans la chambre

Salut, on a jamais mentionné que notre plage était privée, pour votre information, il n’y a pas de plage privée à Boca Chica. En général, toutes les plages du pays sont publiques, c’est une loi etatique. Quand il s’a de la chambre, la raison pour laquelle vous avez la fenêtre la cuisinette à la rentrée, on vous a donné une suite, normalement on ne met pas de rideau dans la cuisine ten raison d’augementer la clarté naturelle. On donne toujour, le même petit déjeuner à tout le monde une valeur de $3 dollars américain qui est très explicite sur notre page. C’est tout à fait normal, si vous voulez consommez un plat beaucoup plus délicieux qu’il faut payer.

My worse experience
I called on feb 17 to cancel the Hotel. 1.number not working. 2. Extremely hard to find no sign. 3.dirty and smelly. 4.no receptionist. 5. I review the room and it did not have a kinsize bed it was a queen. Kitchen no utensils. Room was musty smelly like and refrigerator was off and stinky. Walked around 5 or 6 blocks in a street that i felt unsafe to finally find it. When I saw all that. I decided not to check in. I want my money back. No one should go through an unpleasant experience like that. Please remove that hotel of your site. Kenya R. Flores Rios

You do not get what you pay for
website stated that the room we requested included one way shuttle from airport to hotel. and later owner said that was not included. we reserved a specific room and got another room without the ocean view we paid for. The owner told us that the previous guest had decided to stay two extra nights, which were the nights we had reserved. Although owner gave us a free drink and did not charge us the extra cleaning fee, and apologized for the inconvenience, he did not give us a discount for giving us a different room of much lesser quality. it was not a pretty

We apologize for the inconvenience of not having the room with the balcony available for your stay. The amenities were exactly the same and a bigger room was offered to our guest. The reason we couldn’t reduce the price were clear and simple, we didn’t charge for the taxi, or extra fees and we gave free drinks to our guests. At this point, we agreed that everything was fine due to the fact that they weren’t staying for too long.

not good
The pillows had stains on them and they also looked moldy. There was no running water at night. The water was there in the morning but, it was just cold water. There was a lot of noise outside of the room window very early in the morning. It looks like that is a spot where people go in the morning. I had very little sleep. I had rented the room for 2 night but ended up staying just one night because of the conditions. The only good thing about this hotel was the location.

Next to the beach
I loved this place because is a hotel right by the beach. I had the room with the balcony beach view. Room service available. The staff is very welcoming. They are in the process of renovation. Everyday I saw new things getting done to the restaurant below. The food was excellent.

Very Friendly Owners and Staff
I had hard time locating the place . There was no sign and the entrance was through a restaurant.I stayed there only 2 nights. The first day the air condition was not working properly but the owners /staff made it work manually set at 24 deg. C. It was not cold enough but was comfortable when you compares the outside. The water pressure was not good but I think it is a common problem in all small hotels in Boca Chica. The second day evening the power was going in and out and finally when it came back I didn't have A/C or water in the room!!! The staff was kind enough to have 2 buckets of water in my room.

Not a couple's vacation spot but if it's just you and your friends and you care least about the condition of your room then this will do. The staff and owners are extremely friendly and helpful, which is the hotel's selling point. The food is also very good and the prices are reasonable. They is nearby dancing and a long stretch of beach along with some stores for sourvenir shopping. Wi-fi is also good and air conditioning worked. The only downside is the rooms really need to be updated.

Beautiful island escape!!!
Amazing people & place! Let me first say don't travel during hurricane season! Go there during winter months only. We loved the entire staff (Rasta, Surge, Wolford, Crosby, Joshua, Elbita and ect...)and the humbleness of the location. The food was fresh and each of the 3 chef's catered to your requests. The hotel sits right on the beach with easy access to clubs, restuarants, supermarket and transportation to the capital. We truly had a great vacation and wish we could stay longer!!! We definitely will return in the future. P.S. The only improvements needed are updated Wi-Fi system/ with cable TV/ new windows/plumbing in rooms.

Very nice beach and staff, room needs renovation
In total I loved my stay at Village at the beach because of the super nice staff and the very nice beach, including the possibility to dine and get drinks directly near the ocean. Before I ever book that room with a beach view without a balcony again, I would make sure the massive water stains on the ceiling and the walls have been fixed and the toilet will actually flush. The room with beach view and balcony has just been renovated while I was there, I would pick that one if I go back. Other rooms seemed to be in better condition, too. The transfer from and to the airport worked very well, too. However, each time it took me about a week to get someone on the phone to arrange the transfer with. But yes, I would go back, for the nice beach, great food and great staff.

Close to beach. Good food.
Nice staff and owner. Don't get beachview if you want quiet. Expect music through much of the day. Complimentary Breakfast starts at 8am. Overall friendly and good experience.

Very close to the beach but no hot water.
The staff were very nice and accommodating but there was no hot water in the bathroom sink, and the last day of my stay the electricity when out in the entire town. Would have liked a little more of an upscale presence.

Don't go.
We had no other choices as we made late reservations. I'd advise all others to stay away. It's been over 20 years since I've had worse accommodations.

I will never stay here again! New management and I have to say the conditions were really bad. I had no tv for the 10 days I was there. I got moved to another room because the one I paid for the ac was not working! I had to ask the staff to turn on the water for me to take a shower! They treat you like if you didn't pay to stay there! The staff were very nice people though! Most of the time the light would not work so I had to sleep uncomfortable! The price is not worth the aggravation!

Amazing Staff and Perfect Location!
The location of this hotel was perfect. Right on the beach and also on the Main Street. Everything you need is on your doorstep. The staff were all amazing. They were so welcoming, easygoing and extra helpful. They were always available to assist with anything we needed and they never missed an opportunity to greet or have a friendly chat. Would highly recommend this place. Multiple languages spoken by staff and great quality food served by the chef. Thanks for having us!

A nightmare on the dirty water.
As soon as my trip was booked, the itinery said no front desk?? When I arrived homeless people were all over the front of building, as you walk in a grill with no one there attempting, passing to the main building I took a glance at an opening supposedly the restrooms, some with no doors and dirty. As I proceeded to the back a bar was there close to the water but with the locals taking a bath...disgusting. And in all this these homeless or jobless people had access to the premises so dangerous I left within 10, I would've been safer in the Bronx. Take this village on the beach lie off the site.

Feels like Family
Stayed at Village by the beach to celebrate the husband's birthday. We had a wonderful time. This is our second time staying there and we plan to come back. We love being able to eat by the beach and relax. The food is great and the staff treat us like family.

Problems with the electricity and water
Had to bathe in cold water, the A/C did not work with the power plant, si when ere where power outages in the village is was a warm night. Poor maintenance, great location, good staff.

Great location, but...
I arrived and it was as though no one knew I was coming. The room that I paid for at a price of more than $100.00 per day does not exist at this facility. I was placed in one the basis rooms with a few of the top of a dirty building and no site of the ocean. I was then told that they had a better room for me the next day with a balcony and a few...didn't happen. On my final day the room was ready, and it had no running water and the air conditioning unit sprayed water on me and the bed constantly. I left without a shower or running water and no one to even check out or complain to. The food is good but watch your bill...any of the locals that sit with you will order and it will be charged to you. Biggest roaches I've ever seen and anything done for you they expect to be compensated for. This place has potential, but there are much better choices for less or equal money.

The best hotel and customer service ever
I was a bit concerned about the area since I am Dominican and I know how things work over there however I felt very safe, Thaylor and Marcus and his crew are the best peoe I ever met in my life. They immediately made me feel like family the service and love I got from them was extraordinary and I have been to many countries and hotels in my life and not once did I feel like people wanted to get to know me! The location is great because the beach is outside! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. My cousin stayed with me one night and she will be going back there again! Thank you guys for making my vacation so great and I will be going back soon!

A home away from home
This is a very nice and cozy hotel right on the beach, The hotel staff is very welcoming and fun to hang around with.They treat each other like family and make you feel at home as well. Food is great and Chef Markens definitely did a great job on the menu options. The bartenders are awesome, Renee and Alexis make the best mojitos, Pedro and Moise do a great job at keeping order around the beach. Pedro is also very helpful at getting guests the best deals around. Overall this is a great place, very comfortable and welcoming and we will definitely be back.

So nicht zu empfehlen
Man war auf unsere Ankunft überhaupt nicht vorbereitet. Zum Glück war ein Zimmer frei und zwar das Zimmer mit Veranda und Blick aufs Meer. Allerdings konnten wir die Veranda nicht genießen, 3 Bars, direkt unterhalb des Zimmers wetteiferten um die größte Lautstärke. Nachts regnete es worauf es am Morgen anfing ins Zimmer und Bett zu tropfen. Überhaupt scheint es, als ob das Gebäude von ungelernten Maurern errichtet wurde, alles recht primitiv. Von der Toilette aus vollen Blick auf den Strand, toll! (Solange man kein Licht braucht). Auch beim Frühstück gab es Unklarheiten, erst nach einem Hinweis auf die Buchungsbestätigung wurde das Standart Frühstück aufpreisfrei serviert. Auch wenn der Strand sehr schön zum Baden ist, so ist dieses Hotel in diesem Zustand trotzdem nicht empfehlenswert, zumindest nicht zu diesen Preisen. Es ist eine simple Unterkunft auch wenn sie am Strand liegt ist sie dennoch höchstens 30€ Wert. Allerdings, höchstes Lob für die Reinigungskraft die ganz lieb den ganzen Tag versuchte das Wasser aus dem Zimmer zu bringen.

It was a nice cozy room. Romantic stay on the beach. Only stayed a couple of days. Loved that we could eat on the premises either inside or right on the beach. The food was delicious.

Good stay
Thaylor is indeed a great person, friendly, carrying and helpful. So is the chef. The food was also great, as per all the reviews we read before (not cheap, but really good). The staff is also nice, not all of them speak or understand English, but they are all really nice. The hotel is right on the beach, a narrow but nice strip of beach, water is clear; however not very clean, a lot of plastics or garbage thrown away, but I guess it's a culture thing. Once you go to Dominican Republic, you should lower your standards of hygiene etc. Our room was pretty noisy during the nights because in the bars nearby, but I guess it was out of our hotel's control. The room was big and clean, good A/C, no mini-fridge and no toiletries.

At home away from home
FANTASTIC !!!! We really enjoyed our stay here and I want to point out that we came from a five star hotel in Punta Cana. Staff was phenomenal, 24/7 ready to serve us. Mr. Thaylor (owner) is an AMAZING person and treated us like family. Clean, air conditioned rooms with a lot of cable channels. The view from our room was beautiful. The decoration of the restaurants is awesome. Food was delicious, prepared by an international awarded chef and enjoyed comfortably sitting 20 feet (yes, 20 feet) away from the Caribbean Sea. Could you picture it? Definitively at Village on the Beach we were at home away from home.

De terror por el hotel y por expedia
Habiendo pagado en julio el hotel dijo no tener la reserva y no trabajan con expedia. Nos dieron una habitacion para no dejarnos en la calle, la cual tuve que abonar, fea, sucia, el baño sin puerta. De terror. Expedia nunca nos soluciono el problema ni nos reembolso el dinero. Todo una gran mentira.

This hotel is very, very close to the beach. Thats a big plus if you are looking to spend your vacay relaxing on the sand, swimming and tanning. If you are looking to enjoy the sights and offerings of Santo Domingo then you may want to stay somewhere closer to the city as this is a 30 minute ride out and this hotel does not offer a shuttle for guests. The rooms are mediocre. If you are a Hilton/Marriott kind of person this is not for you. There is air conditioning, tv, and good wifi. The negatives - soap scum on the shower curtain, rooms that could be more updated and lizards and cockroaches. The food was okay. The breakfast was good. The chef that usually cooks was out so im assuming his replacement did the best he could. Food orders took anywhere from 20-30 minutes every time. The staff is very nice and welcoming, the language barrier could pose some issues if you're not fluent in Spanish. The owner is nice and from the U.S. and will make you feel welcome and ensure your comfortable. I would suggest keeping a record on your food and beverage purchases as you can only run a tab and pay the entire bill when you checkout. The staff charges meals based on the room number you GIVE them which could lead to questionable charges. I personally felt like my bill was extremely high for one person while my friends bill for two people was lower. Unfortunately, the owner holds your passport once you check in and returns it once you pay the bill to checkout so disputes are not a option

Recent Stay at Village on the Beach
If you are looking for cookie cutter resort locale, this charming place on the beach is not for you. Village on the Beach relies on customer service and they treat each customer as if they are a VIP and not just another guest. The owners are very helpful and personable. The staff are happy to serve and very pleasant. The whole staff was great, but I must give a special customer service award to Alex, Evalisa and Yoelli (I hope I spelled the names correct.) They made sure my every need was fulfilled with a smile. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and very clean thanks to Rudy and Evita. The food prepared was so good and not one complaint in what I consumed thanks again kitchen staff and Chef Ferdno. The security was very good and kept us all safe. I was very relaxed and enjoyed every minute. I know I missed some of the staff, but they all deserve a mention for how good they were. The place needs a little more work, water was a little come and go, and not everything on the menu was available, but that would be my only critique of a fabulous, relaxing place. I recommend this place for any traveler that wants to experience life and the people, not just live life.

Charmant petit hotel les pieds dans l'eau
Charmant petit hotel situe en plein coeur de la zone touristique les pieds dans l'eau . Sa valeur ajoutee c'est la qualite de l'acceuil de tout le personnel ,sa proprete irreprochable ,sa cuisine gastromique de son chef venu de Miami , et lsa joli decoration ,d'inspiration haitienne avec une belle utilsatition du bambou . L'hotel est situe dans une zone plutot animee et un peu "chaude" ,mais sait se mettre a l'abri avec elegance et raffinement. Nous avons ete mon epouse et moi ete aux petits soins pendant tout notre sejour . . Nous reviendrons a coup sur .. Un coup de chapeau au patron Taylor remarquable de presence en continu, gros bisous a Jovely Aissa, Elvtita ,un "yeah man" a Rasta .

Beautiful beaches and "ACTIVITIES"
I enjoyed my time eating, swimming, water activities, and Soaking in some of the "Local Culture".... "Village on The Beach" was an Epic Experience!!!

Amazing Staff/Service, Best Food, Great Location
The staff at this hotel provide 5 star service. The owners are absolute gems who make sure that every part of your stay is as comfortable as possible. They are not overly pushy and are not trying to sell to you. The waitresses are very attentive and sweet. If you want to truly experience the Dominican Republic, this is the place to come. You are beach front, surrounded by other Dominican tourists instead of being locked up in some over-priced resort. The main chef at Village on this Beach is a food genius- he will cook up whatever you ask for and make sure it looks 5 star. People come from resorts around the area to try his food because it is reasonably priced and delicious. The hotel provides great security on the beach so you don't have to worry about your belongings when you go in the water. The rooms are basic but very clean and perfectly air-conditioned. The location is perfect- you are beach front and can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the water. I can honestly say this is the best service my boyfriend and I have received in a low-cost hotel and we have traveled to over 40 different countries.

Great Place To Stay Right On The Beach !
The owner was friendly and accommodating and I was surprised that there was 2 restaurants there. Boca Chica is a great place to stay and with inexpensive options like Village on The Beach. They are making improvements to the property so it's only going to get better!
