Comfortable and quiet stay in the heart of La Fortuna. Easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Great variety of free breakfast menu items.

All facilities in hotel were good. Staff from reception being helpful in every respect to maid service being really good. One suggestion would be to install a grab bar in shower area for safety Free breakfast was ok but dinner at night was excellent.

A great place to stay. A big plus is the little river right beside the restaurant and sitting areas. The river was scenic and relaxing to listen to and provided wildlife sightings. Tiger herons, toucans, parrots, big King Fishers, two otters and several huge green iguanas, a mother sloth and her baby were all on the beautiful grounds of this hotel. The restaurant at the hotel is right beside the river; a wonderful place to eat. Besides the good breakfast which was included; the restaurant was also open for lunch and dinner. It was closed on Tuesday for lunch and dinner when we were there but I am not sure if this is a regular closure. We appreciated having the restaurant on site when it was pouring rain as we did not have a car. Even though there were several restaurants close by we did not want to get wet. The staff in the restaurant was wonderful; they were always looking for wildlife to show you. Location is great, close to everything. The easy hop shuttle stops right in front of the hotel. We had a junior suite with 1 king bed and while our room had a great view of the volcano it did not have an outdoor sitting area like most other rooms. The sitting area was inside and even though there were huge sliding doors to open I prefer to actually sit outside. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and it is amazing just to see all the vegetation. We loved our stay here!

Lovely small property, super clean and well cared for. Breakfast included which was from a full menu and delicious coffee. Modern decor in room, very spacious bathroom and shower. King bed which was average in terms of comfort. Walking distance to many restaurants and short drive to many attractions. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay!

The room was great . The hotel Is at a high traffic street , but in Tbe room in Tbe back we did not hear the noise . The pool is refreshing , not too big, but was ok . It is a great base to go for explorations from . Reception was very helpful with organizing excursions. Best massage ever just minutes away in Venus spa in a small shopping mall around the corner. Don Rufino great restaurant 3 minutes walk.

Really nice property located right in the middle of the town. You can walk anywhere, for supper or shopping. The rooms are ok and clean. Some rooms, like the one we stayed in, have a view of the Arenal volcano. Excellent breakfast. Check the back of the property for wildlife.

Great facilities, super-helpful friendly staff
Overall Monte Real hotel got everything right. The room was comfortable with a balcony and view over garden and endless bird visitors. Breakfast was sited next to the river with otter, herons, squirrels in residence. There was a wildlife garden by the river where frogs could be sighted. The staff were super friendly and very helpful

Traveled with my older parents and their friends. This proerty was really accessible for them. This place was pristine, really beautiful. Staff was lovely and friendly. Restaurant was delicious! Highly highly recommend.

The room was very basic but clean. Although the bed I had was not as comfortable as I had hoped. And the twin bed I had for my daughter was hard as a rock so she ended up sleeping with me. But the pool was lovely and it was a minute’s walk into town. Lots of food nearby and also at this hotel.

Good value with pool
We stayed here for two nights as part of a longer trip. The location is convenient enough to walk to a number of restaurants (also restaurant on site). Parking was included and inside the hotel property. Pool was a nice amenity. Room was comfortable and quiet with clean sheets and towels and bathrooms.

Location, cleanliness, adjacent to a water spring and surrounded by nature. The sounds of the birds and watching them in the morning is an unmatchable experience. Beautiful place, very friendly and professional staff.

Little slice of heaven
This was such a nice hotel. We had a comfortable room with a fantastic view of Arenal. The pool was nice to cool off in. We walked the paths along the stream and saw pretty flowers and birds - toucans! We enjoyed dining to the sound of the running stream. The included breakfast was amazing! The staff is so friendly and helpful with everything! Luis became our best amigo! Just a happy nice guy who made us feel like family! My son left his sweatshirt behind and when I called a day later they had it! Honestly I will stay here again. It is t fancy but it’s perfect and you can walk to anything downtown. Great location!

This hotel is like a little haven within the downtown area. You drive through the gates and it is like you are in another place. Our hotel room was very clean. Immediately outside our room was the tree frog garden with many lovely flowers and plants. There is a lovely stream running through the garden, which creates a peaceful, calming sound. There are bird songs all around; not much sound from cars, etc. I even did a Zoom call from our balcony with no interruptions (with our cellular data).

Great Stay in Monte Real Hotel
The room is BIG with 2 queens size bed. Daniel and Jackie both front desk receptionist were very helpful with information about transportations/tours etc. the free breakfast was simple but all home cooked. it is NOT on the major strips of the town but all fruits stands, supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries were within few blocks

Outstanding Hotel In The Heart Of La Fortuna
Outstanding stay. Plenty of parking, exceptionally maintained grounds, clean and spacious rooms. There is a small restaurant on site overlooking the river (or you can easily walk to most La Fortuna locations). We ate a light dinner there and watched parrots and toucans land near the river. There was a sloth on site as well. We did not see monkeys or otters, but we were told they often make an appearance. We were able to check in early and the service was outstanding.

I am Canadian, used to Canadian & American hotels to set the stage. This was my first time to Costa Rica so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Upon arrival in La Fortuna I was skeptical as it’s nothing like CAN or USA but I must say I quickly realized what a wonderful property we had chosen to stay at. It’s not fancy but it’s very clean, it’s close to everything yet set that few minutes away that it’s quiet and peaceful, you will have an excellent sleep and the city is literally footsteps away! The complimentary breakfast was delicious and you had a few options. Small pool area and view of the volcano. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I will give this hotel 5/5 and would recommend to anyone! Showers were hot and bathroom was huge! Bed was comfortable and in room safe let you explore the city and surrounding area with no worries about your valuables. I read many reviews hence why I booked Hotel Monte Real and so glad we did!!! A great choice in La Fortuna.

As soon as we were checking in. We saw a toucan. A few minutes later from our balcony we spotted a sloth. I will definitely stay here again in the future

Lovely place, friendly staff, beautiful location
I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It was the first place we stayed in Costa Rica. Close enough to the town square for food, but just far enough away to not hear any traffic. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, they couldn’t help you more. The breakfast was delicious and fresh each day. The grounds are incredibly well kept and the room was perfect for 2 travellers. The air conditioning was excellent (and needed!) and the bathroom had a huge walk in shower. 10/10 stay, would highly recommend.
