We liked it!
This was our second stay and we stayed for two nights. We found the staff friendly and the food very good. the room could do with a spruce up, and we simply must comment on the cheap, flimsy loo seat that kept coming apart! We actually liked it overall and could probably stay there again.

Stuck in the 1950’s
Handy location and good parking. We were given a room up in the highest point of the hotel, and was offered no assistance in getting any bags up there by the person on reception. We had to leave very early and the person who was on reception told us that this was before the kitchen opened but would arrange for a continental breakfast to be brought up and left outside our room overnight. They also said that we could leave a chiller bag in the fridge downstairs and someone would help us get it in the morning. No breakfast arrived and there was no one around, or answering the reception phone to enable us to get the bag. We ended up leaving without the bag and had to return the next day, going out of our way to get it. Very inconvenient and not appreciated. Property old and tired. Needs dragging into the 21st century - this could be done without losing the charm of the character of the property.

Checked in and then checked out 3 hours later
Hotel not what I expected. Didn't use my room and asked for a 50% refund on checking out. Passed on to Assistant Manager. Assistant Manager told me a different set of reasons of not giving me a 50% refund. I tried to explain why I checked out and the Assistant Manger pit the phone down on me.

Food awful do not eat there in pub ordered homemade hamburger with sausage bacon fried egg and cheese. It was served up a burger by its self in a bun and was not homemade,sent it back saying we ordered as above came back with sausage that was nearly cold apiece of bacon like shoe leather and a few slices of cold boiled egg. Plus the chip were cold by then. I was offered something else but by this time it was obvious it wasn't a trained chef. In the morning I pulled back the bed sheet there was a massive dried blood and wee stains. We only stayed one night out of two we were booked in for. Only see 3 staff who were nice. Only see one cleaner and considering her task did not do a bad job.

Do not stay here if you like new hotels
I would not stay here again as the place needs a lot of money spending to get it to an acceptable standard, the staff were good and the breakfast was good but the rooms are in an awful state, we moved rooms and it was barely better but we were on a rush so accepted

Tired, oh so tired
Staff are friendly,but there aren't enough of them. So the ones that were there were tired. The hotel is very tired too. In desperate need of cleaning thoroughly and decorating. The shower in our room had been cleaned but the tiles etc were mouldy. Breakfast was okay. Not a lot of choice and one over worked person trying to take orders,serve,clear up etc,etc. We had an interesting stay. Unfortunately won't be visiting again. Its a shame as its a really interesting historic building in places. The staff are lovely too. Hope someone will take pity on the poor Talbot Hotel and bring it up to an acceptable standard in the future.

A lovely old Inn style hotel. Big room, big comfy bed. Very quiet. Lots of period features like wonky floors and low beams. Lovely pub grub and lots of it. Nice real beers. Central location. Big car park. Easy going relaxed. Comfy big chairs. If you want a sanitised bright lights Travelodge experience go there. If you want to stay in an old pub stay here

Character hotel
It's a very old hotel that needs a lot of money spent on it but to be fair it's ok for the price. They must improve the quality of the tea bags as they are cheap and horrible

Absolutely disgusting
Didn't stay here it ruined my trip visiting family as I had to return home because the room was filthy staff didnt apologise infact the housekeeper was very abrupt. How they can let rooms like this or you advertising them for them I don't know and I have just read the reviews on trip advisor and the majority of them are terrible and say the same thing and I am now waiting to get my money back from you.

Convenient for my visit good location,
Good location , better room than the last 2 times I stayed here, bigger and fresher only thing was tv didn't work no aerial signal so couldn't get any picture,did tell staff about it but it wasn't sorted by the time I checked out so I mentioned it again to the owner when I checked out and took key back other than that a pleasant stay

This hotel should be taken off your site. There were warning signs it might not be up to scratch, but that was 3 weeks ago. There was plenty of time to make improvements. Stains on everything all carpets and upholstery. Mould in the bathroom. Health hazed staying here !

Don’t go there!
Didn’t end up staying, we checked in, staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing, mould had eaten through the ceiling in the bathroom & the room was dirty. Changed rooms & wasn’t much better- still dirty, didn’t want to risk it as it didn’t feel very secure either. Found a nice B&B to stay in instead.

Good location for my visit
They had cleaned the windowsill of dried spilt coffee that was there on previous visit, I was put in the same room so I checked and windowsill was cleaned so plus point for that,supply coffee tea making facilities in room and a kettle, and overall room looked cleaner this time , it's in a good location, lot of character being such a old place, price is good compared to other places , and room had improved since last stay there

Upon arrival the entrance at the rear was littered with rubbish and smelt like sick. The reception was unmanned and was dark and gloomy not very appealing for a woman travelling alone. The room was disgusting white duvet had long black hairs and what appeared to be animal hair. Yellow stains on sheets too. In the bathroom the shower would not turn off so flooded the floor. Felt unsafe staying there so left on same evening of arrival so did not stay in the hotel. Very disappointed that this hotel was available and rated on such a reputable site will not be recommending to anyone.

Old historic hotel
Hotel looked ok when I was walking to room, no lift but I managed to haul case up 3 little flights of stairs, the room however was disappointing , it looked a bit tatty, the walls could of done with a lock of paint to freshen it up specially the bit by the door and chest of drawers that had marks faded paint and mould on the dado rail, there was some coffee that had been knocked over and left to dry on window ledge and hadn't been cleaned up or wiped the carpet hadn't been hoovered was pile of dust on it by wall, the wall by mirror had marks all over at the bottom that should of been cleaned wiped off or painted over to cover them up the bathroom window had black mould on the frame, which again could easily have been and should of been wiped off, the room was small , but when I read other reviews tbh there was not one good one , I didn't try the breakfast tbh after reading the reviews so can't comment on that,but the room just looked like it needs cleaning freshening up i know it's old place and the character is good , but it's no excuse for not cleaning a room that someone's paid to stay in tbh , the staff i encountered dealt with were pleasant enough but the overall cleanliness of room i stayed in let it down , it's in a good location , and it's reasonably cheap , but I still expect clean and hoovered if it's on your site tbh advertised I think someone needs to go and look at it as what it looks like on site it's not like that when get there at all

Yes. But no.
The hotel is very old. Although my room was reasonably clean, everything is just really old and needs an urgent update and renovation. Wall paper is peeling and I could see there has been water damage or a damp issue on the ceiling. Because it is an old building, you can hear everything from the outside, as it is single glazed. Staff is very nice though, the bathroom was clean and the bed was very nice. I've spend one night here, which was okay. But I would not recommend it.

The Quirky Talbot
I love the Talbot Hotel. It’s quirky personality reminds you of days gone by. Sure it could do with some updating but it’s staff and the food make up for it. Carvery Wednesday it superb value even for non residents. Crooked floors and not a 90 degree angle in sight but who cares. I love it there

Very disappointing.
I booked a superior room, the only superior part was the size. The room was facing the high street therefore there was people & traffic noise late into the evening. The secondary glazing only opened a quarter of the window size, it was a hot day & there were no fans available. The TV Ariel had come out of the connector whilst they came to mend it, I was surprised to see it plugged into an extension reel. So I found out you had to ask reception for a hairdryer after I'd had a shower, if you could find someone. For superior you expect tissues, a biscuit or something but there was absolutely zero, a very basic room.I could only see my eyes in the bathroom mirror as it had been placed above the tiles no use at all. It felt as though the place needed a good clean, if you go past room 6 you are faced with a complete mess of chairs & bits. I will not be staying again.

My experience at The Talbot Hotel was not a pleasurable one at all. Why was that: We checked into the hotel after travelling from India and being awake for about a day and a half. Leaving India on a night flight after being up all day. two flights we arrived in London and travelled to The Talbot Hotel in Stourbridge. We checked in, had a shower and went out. The first complaint would be that the shower did not turn off. I turned it off but it still kept going. I went down to the front desk, the manager came up and he used both hands to manage to turn the shower off to a constant drip and he said, "There it's off". I complained and he said he would get a plumber. Never did get it fixed. When we arrived back at the hotel and had a shower, same thing, not fixed, had to give it three goes of using both hands to turn off the shower. Still dripped and dribbled. When I hung up my clothes in the wardrobe I cut my toe as there was glass poking out from under the wardrobe. I complained about this and the shower again in the morning, the manager said he would get housekeeping to remove the glass, I showed him a picture of the glass. On top of this I received a parking ticket for parking on the hotel property of £100.00. The hotel did not register my car. I received the ticket after returning to Canada. Several attempts to contact The Talbot Hotel to have them get the ticket cancelled proved fruitless. The Talbot Hotel did not have the courtesy to responds to my emails.

Old hotel full of character. Room was spacious and bright with a large comfortable bed. Some lovely antique furniture. Good selection of hot and cold food at breakfast.

I think this is great for the price you pay. Fantastic breakfast. Ok. It needs a refurb but that doesn’t make the stay any worse. The mere were 8 guests having breakfast and we all talked saying this is the best hotel to stay in Stourbridge and the cheapest

You get what you pay for.
OK for a one night stay, convenient location with limited free car parking available, WiFi was good but I think the staff could do with going on a customer relations course!

Very nice room, but the bathroom was full of black mould and it wasn’t inviting to take a shower because of that. The signage to find the room was also very confusing.

Staff very rude. Room not what I was expecting Room dirty and bed broken. Most of the furniture in the room was either dirty or broken. Bath was dirty. Very noisy music until late. At 7am staff were moving tables around down stairs for breakfast.
