On a one week trip with my son and Bend was to be the highlight, which is why I was willing to spend more for my room there than in some of the other stops. Let me first say that the resort is in an absolutely beautiful location, an incredible property with some gorgeous views looking down onto the Deschutes River from the rocky bluffs high above. And that is what you'll see on all the photos that the resort provided to Expedia... but that is most certainly NOT what I got. In fact, it was quite the opposite. We were put up in a first floor unit, dark and dingy, that looked like it had been picked up at a cheap garage sale. I was as clean, though, but the old adage that you can't put lipstick on a pig applies. We had absolutely no view, unless you consider looking out onto a dusty access road something worth pondering. When I checked out, another guest overheard me speaking to the guest clerk about my disappointment and nodded in agreement, saying she'd had the same experience. The clerk clearly didn't have any clout to do anything about it, though, as she simply gave me a cursory "I'm sorry." They also have no concierge service to assist you in a pinch with booking excursions, or at least that was my experience. It's too bad, because as you drive up the hill you're drooling in anticipation of what you see from across the river. In short, I would think if you have a river view unit you'll be very happy but, if you're booked into a "ski view" unit you'll be upset!
